There are days I don't wash my hair in sections, and there are days I wash my hair in sections. I take each section down while holding onto my ends so they don't get too tangled especially now that my hair is longer. I also detangle my hair before washing it to remove the shed hair. if I am trying to have a more intensive conditioner treatment I use a mask because it will go deeper into the hair shaft and address specific concerns like severe dryness, damage, or breakage. A deep conditioner only provides a more general level of moisture and repair. A mask is usually thicker and more concentrated with more nourishing ingredients and a deeper penetration than a deep conditioner. It is more intense. I sit under a hair dryer. I will use a mask or a deep conditioner every wash day. I use a leave-in conditioner and allow it to sit on my hair for ten minutes under a plastic cap. I never leave any mask or deep conditioner on my hair for more than thirty minutes because after 30 minutes it will do nothing else for the hair and your hair will only receive about 35 percent of what you put on it. Anything else you put on your hair is just coating your strands. It does not penetrate the hair shaft. I never allow my hair to air dry. The longer the hair is wet, the longer the bonds are broken. I hope this helps. I am a retired Cosmetologist. I have done hair for forty-three years.

Wow Sis, this was really helpful. I have some questions I do hope you can reply, when you mentioned you do not leave any conditioner does that include leave-in? And how do you get your hair to dry faster? If you do use a blowdryer could you recommend a good heat protectant because I am struggling with heat damage right now.
Thank you for the indept explanation of hair mask and deep conditioner❤️

@@GloryOkings No dear I was talking about the mask and deep conditioners. I get my heat protector from Elite Hair Care USA. It is called Shield heat and humidity protectant spray. I have used Chi thermal protection before. There really is no heat protection that I have seen that will stop heat damage. You can get heat damage from your first silk press. I recommend not to use a high temperature on your hair, especially if you plan to curl it after the press. Only do one pass with the flat iron during the pressing process. You can increase the temperature for the curling, but not too high. If you can curl your hair with one pass during the press that would be better. I have a loose curl pattern, and I have been pressing my hair once a month for the last 6 months. My last silk press I did caused a little heat damage. I don't recommend a silk press if your hair and scalp are not healthy unless you don't mind a loose curl pattern. I hope this helps you.

My hair is rather fine and not very dense, so I've never really felt the need to section my hair since it's quite short. I'm glad to say that my hair doesn't get very tangled. Great video! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Hi, I wash my hair in 5 sections. I let my hair loose when I wash each section then twist it back up and focus on the next section. I like to do things this way because I can have access to my entire scalp plus I can easily finger detangle at every steps at the same time.
Mask or conditioners are marketing terms. They have similar ingredients (conditioning ingredients) and do the same thing. I just use a mask or conditioner that works for me. I just need them to make my hair easy to detangle, have slip, make make my hair soft.
I actually really love the mask you used in this video. It's one of my favorite.

Hi sis thank you so much for your comment❤️
I also wash in sections but i felt the shampoo step can be done without it being in sections for now, maybe when my hair gets longer I would go back to sections. But for the deep conditioner I always do it in sections cause it's easier to detangle the hair.
I would definitely make some research on the difference because I used to think masks were for a different porosity hair type. But we learn every day.

@GloryOkings Actually if you listen to cosmetic chemists who are the ones making our hair products you'll realize that porosity is not even a topic for them. It's more of an internet/social media thing for the final customers.

5:47 I think hair masks and deep conditioners are probably the same. It’s mostly marketing language. However there are more protein-based masks and conditioners, and those that are moisturizing. Products that say - Reconstructing, strengthening, etc. have more protein.

Oh that's interesting, I always felt hair mask was probably for medium to high porosity hair types. But it makes sense when looked at from the angle of a marketing language

I've asked myself about the hair mask and deep conditioner thing so many times! I haven't got a clue but use them both interchangeably. Don't know if I'm wrong lol😂🇬🇭🇬🇧

Queen, thank you for the video! I love and always benefit from your content. I think the difference between a mask and deep conditioner may be in how often and how long the applied product stays in the hair, where a mask is used as part of a monthly regiment and stays in the hair for a longer period of time.
I do not section my hair for wash day.

Hi Sis! Thank you for your comment❤️
I think that makes sense, I used to think the mask are for medium to low porosity hair types and deep conditioners are for low porosity hair type. I would definitely look more into it and get more knowledge on it.

7:14 All of the cosmetologists I follow suggest following the instructions on conditioners. Don’t leave them on longer than the instructions say.

I usually do not, but I got distracted, busy and tired then I slept off 😂
Usually I try to leave it in for 30-45 minutes.

I’ve noticed with the masks that I’ve used, they tend to be thicker. That definitely does not apply to all. I interchange them. I use them both like deep conditioners. I’m licensed and my hair is healthy, so… 🤷🏽‍♀️
