- Which is the Best Sunscreen in the Indian Market?
Summer is round the corner and in this season the one cream that should be a part of your daily cosmetic kit is a sunscreen. Sun is the source of energy on this planet, however prolonged exposure to the UV rays of the sun may lead to sunburn, fast ageing and in some cases even skin cancer. So applying a sunscreen on a daily basis becomes extremely important. However, it is shocking that most commercial sunscreens in the market are full of toxic chemicals like oxybenzone, parabens, mineral oil, BHT and many others which not only harm the skin but also completely block the absorption of the Vitamin D in the body, of which the sun is a major source.
So, what choice do we have? Obviously, we want to protect ourselves from the harmful radiations of the sun but at the same time we don’t want a toxic sunscreen to damage our skin.
In search of the best sunscreen in the Indian market I picked up almost 15 sunscreens, some from the supermarket while others online.
After an in-depth analysis, I have sorted out all these sunscreens into 3 categories on the basis of number of toxic chemicals present in them.
01:42 - CATEGORY #1 - These sunscreen creams have 10 or more toxic chemicals in them. Many of these chemicals have been known to interfere with the thyroid gland. Some of these chemicals have the capacity to cross the skin and get into other tissues in the body. Basically, they are the worst in the market.
02:33 - CATEGORY #2 - These sunscreens claim to be non cosmetic and Ayurvedic but it does not mention the complete list of ingredients. However, they do contain some harmful chemicals.
03:33 - What is Sun Protection Factor (SPF) number really means?
04:35 - CATEGORY #3 - Sunscreens by these brands have nothing to hide as they have mentioned the complete list of ingredients. These sunscreens are safe and natural in their true sense.

I'm 34 and I've been using sunscreen every single day for almost 12 years now. I'm sure my skin wouldn't look the same if I'd didn't do this. I always apply on my face, ears, neck, arms and hands (never forget your hands). I'm from Brazil, we do not have these ones here. I use the ones for oily skin and my preferred ones are: Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence and Anthelios Airlicium by La Roche Posay.

Actually I read that there is a major difference in sunscreen and sunblock . Sunscreen helps to prevent harmful sun rays while sunblock actually block sun fully which is actually not good as we need vitamin D which is the most vital nutrient for your body (and most of us don't have enough of it )
I wrote this down because neutrogena is a sunblock so try to buy sunscreen with atleast spf 30 to 50 (more than enough) apply it before going out ( 20 min before )and apply on your expose parts of body too so you protect you body as well

I have a question, should i go for a detan session first then buy a sunscreen for effective use (cuz I have year long tans) or one can use sunscreen with tans also...

You can go for sunscreen without de tan session or you can go for one if you wish thats totally upto you
See the major difference is that if you go for de tan is that the sunscreen will show visible result more quickly else you can just use sunscreen and wait patiently.

There are so many people in the Aroma Magic sunscreen's review section saying that it is more of like a fairness scream and leaves a white cast. Ugh. Before buying have some sufficient knowledge about the ingredients of the products.
Aroma Magic is a physical sunscreen and physical sunscreens are meant to leave a white cast as it sits on the Epidermis layer of the skin. Chemical sunscreens on the other hand don't leave a white cast but they are more harmful to use as it absorbs the UV rays and convert it into heat, so the sebum in your skin can oxidize. Aroma Magic is indeed the safest sunscreen to use as it has Zinc Oxide (which is approved by FDA), no mineral oil and no paraben . Other safe ingredients to find in a sunscreen are Titanic Oxide, Avobenzone and Octisalate. Harmful ingredients in sunscreens are Oxybenzone, PABA, Homosalate and Octinoxate (also known an Ethylhexyl or Methoxycinnamate) Also if any sunscreen has silicone, for example Dinethicone, it is safe too as it is FDA approved and improves the texture of the product. So from the next time have a good amount of knowledge of the product before complaining about it.

Aroma magic's sunblock is good no doubt, but it is extremely drying on the skin and it always leaves behind a white case. I am using the face shop's eco sunscreen which is unfortunately expensive but I have no other hope for my dry skin condition.
It's leaving your face white because it is a sunblock. Sunblock is different than sunscreen. Sunblock is thicker in consistency and makes a layer on your face and blocks the sunrays.

I got the skin on my face stitched after an accident. Doctor suggested Lotus sunscreen at all times(even while sleeping otw the stitched skin will turn black). And it worked wonderfully.
