As an Asian living in Asia, I do notice that baldness is not as prominent here compared to our Western counterparts. You get a lot of Western male celebrities who are bald, but you rarely find any celebrities here in Asia who are, especially East Asians. Having hair is very much a thing here.

But is that because Asian's are less predisposed to balding? Or is it that many of them care so much more, that more Asians go out of their way to fix or mask it?

@@TheSixthSLoT East Asians *are* less genetically prone to balding than many other races; at least, they start balding later than their Caucasian peers. But I think it's fair to say that this in itself causes extra sensitivity and pressure, and masking becomes more of a priority for those who do lose hair. This is only compounded by the nouveau-riche taste for luxury and cosmetics that is currently not uncommon in countries like China and Korea.

Reminds me of a time I had to quietly let a hairpiece wearing colleague of mine know that his hairpiece had shifted and had exposed some scalp in the back. Several people saw it and were snickering. I did it on the sly so as not to embarrass him in front of everyone. He was a flight nurse and I have no idea how he kept that hairpiece in place while taking his helmet off.

Forst off, Doctor Gary, thank you for all you do. Im bald and planning on keeping it that way but i still watch your videos because they are so informative and well explained. Thank you for that
    Second off,
    Embrace the baldness kings!!
Its not as bad as one might think.
I started loosing hair when i was 15/16yo around 2005/2006 on top of that the speed that all this mofos just went flying off my head was insane. (pretty much all men in my family are bald) and it is the worst nightmare for a young man. Like, my life was over.
my only 2 realistic options after like what, 4 or 5 years, was to either hide it as best as possible whit the classic comb-over from one ear to the other (and avoid wind forever) or to embrace the baldness. Choosed the latter and never been more happy.
Shieeet I'll go as far as to say it was a blessing in disguise.

Bald is completely ok, normal, and can also be attractive, it is based on how you rock it. Dr. Linkov for example is completely fine with it, and rocks the style. Very attractive man. Many of my partners were losing hair, most of the time, it was a big issue for them, but never for me. The only issue was it being such an issue for them. I simply didn‘t want them to feel bad. Though i respected it, i mean, i have body issues, too. So keep your issues if you want, when it comes to hair loss: best way is to shave it all off and get used to your new attractiveness.

I’m a woman, but my hairline has always been back a bit, like indented more on the sides,
I’ve been on immunosuppressives for years (that are actually chemo, just a lower dose) which causes me to lose some of my hair, so on top of the hairline being back my already fine hair is quite thin
I’ve thought about looking for some treatments or products to try & help it a bit
you can really tell as much when it’s volumized, but also I’ve went from blonde to brown but my baby hairs are still blonde so that also causes it to look a little more thin in front
I’ll never understand people who look down on people for thinning or being bald, like it’s a natural part of life for most of us, & in our society it seems like it’s got such negative connotations that cause people to stress about how they look when thinning/balding (which can make it worse in some cases) or looked at like making someone less attractive, for me it’s never made me see anyone as less or more attractive how much hair they have
Beauty standards can be brutal for men & women, like a lot of people tend to see this as an issue more women face than men, but I feel like it’s there for men too, just in different ways

@@AsiansxsymbolI wouldn’t say things don’t work for everyone, different things can work well for some people,
I think it really depends on the reason for the thinning/balding if a certain treatment works or doesn’t work for you
And I mean I don’t think anything is gonna completely have it all grow back, sometimes it’s just a subtle difference, but can help someone
For me I’m on a treatment that has hair loss as a side effect, but I also take another med after my treatment to help counteract some of the side effects like hair loss which help & I’ve heard of other things like rosemary oil that can help stimulate hair growth I’ve thought of trying
Social constructs can really suck, sometimes we perceive things about ourselves to be a bigger problem than they are to others
In reality the confidence someone has or doesn’t have is what makes them more or less attractive to most of us, more than the physical attributes they possess that may not be as conventionally attractive
If someone is gonna judge you on that, I don’t think they’re worth your time
Unfortunately it’s usually ourselves that are our worst critics, & as I mentioned above confidence is key, so my advice is just own it and find things you do like about yourself

An amazingly large number of passengers in fact. Some would have ridiculously large hats. Some with dew rags (?). Some bold ones with no coverings at all. I think being bald as an Asian would encounter with a lot more pressure and discriminatory treatments, whether explicitly or implicitly, since our culture is seen as less lenient towards a lot of things compared with western counterparts. We prefer homogeneity. On the other hand, it also has to do with aesthetics since Asians doesn't look nice as being bald, and most of influential figures including celebrities and politicians, are not balding😅😅😅😅

it would be extremely difficult to persuade a surgeon to put you on immunosuppressants for life for cosmetic reasons. so, no. in addition to this, hair follicles have a limited lifespan outside the body, and the longer they remain outside, the lower the chances of their successful transplantation. the viability of hair follicles diminishes rapidly after death, making it less likely for them to survive and grow after transplantation. so unless youre planning on murdering someone freshly before your transplant, its another no. youd also probably have to murder a close family member because transplanting hair from a deceased person would require finding a donor with a similar hair type, color, and texture as the recipient. these factors significantly impact the overall appearance and success of the transplant. matching these characteristics can be challenging, as they are influenced by genetic and individual factors. but lets say youre not a serial killer and manage to simply find a dead person with luscious locks.. well, be careful whatever they died of wont be transmitted to you during the hair transplant ! there really is a potential risk of disease transmission when using tissues or organs from deceased individuals. this risk is typically minimized through rigorous screening and testing processes for organ transplantation, however the same level of screening and testing may not be feasible for hair transplantation. plus, do you really have time for all that vetting when every second that passes is reducing the quality of the hair follicle ? good luck on your morbid mission

Nope, if you could get someone else’s hair then completely bald men that would already be too late, would be getting full hair transplant already
