I straight up love a philosophical sermon. Augustine was philosophical under God and in prayer. Tozer ‘came at’ nearly every biblical topic from a philosophical angle. That was how he approached things. I believe personally that we are being conformed to the image of Christ in character (fruit of the Spirit) but that such character is expressed characteristically in our created-in-God’s-image unique personality. Whether we’re philosophical, artistic, intellectual, dance, love animals, etc., etc. He made us like that. Wilde was right when he said, be yourself because everyone else is taken. But this ‘being ourselves’ in Christ evidences the fruit of the Spirit in uniquely characteristic ways. When we’ve been there 10,000 years… no perfecting of me or extent of Christ-likeness will delete who I am. Fearfully and wonderfully made: Doubly The work of His hands.
