You spoke in a measured and articulate manner and explained everything. This was just what I needed, after searching and searching for something on the difference between menus, categories and posts along with how each are related to the other and how to do it. Very thankful!!!
can you add ALL blog posts from EVERY category to one menu item or page? Such a simple task is not easily accomplished in WP. I remember in Joomla you were able to assign a menu item to have certain type (ie: blog layout by section or category, and able to actually pick and choose which categories you wanted) without resorting to inserting code in the CSS.
You can have ALL your blog posts from EVERY category on one page. It's fairly simple. Go to ’Settings’ > ‘Reading’ In the top most section called “Your homepage displays”, select the radio button “A static page” Then from the drop down, select a page for your “Homepage”. Next select a page for your “Posts page” If you don’t already have a page to use as a “Posts page”, then you can create a new blank page with a name in the ‘Pages’ menu on the left panel. You don't to put any content in this page. This new page will now appear in the drop down menu in the 'Reading' section. Finally, click on the ’Save Changes’ button at the bottom of the page. Here’s an example… Check the link below, the ‘Blog’ link will display ALL the posts. ( cmwpweb.wordpress.com/blog/ )
@@SollyDeSIlva Thanks Solly. It is still not showing up. The website I am trying to help out with has WooCommerce installed, so we have items (instead of numerous "pages"). Could that cause a conflict? I have left Homepage: Home Page as the default, and have followed the other instructions with no luck. Blog, has also been setup as a menu item, and a Posts Page: Blog (to hosts these blog posts).
I don't see WooCom causing a problem. But if you don't have any 'Posts', then there's nothing to show in the Blog page. The 'Blog' page will show all your posts by default. Also sometimes some features in WP may display a bit different depending on the WP theme you have chosen. For exmaple the position of certain widgets etc. If the site is still in testing stage, you could try a different theme and see if that works. At least then you'll know that the issue is with the theme.
Solly, thank you very much, mate. You are a lifesaver! I've almost been banging my head against the wall for hours now trying to figure out how to make categories on my menu links! You are a star and if you were here I'd buy you a beer. I've subscribed.
Good tutorial but In the beginning you said you were going to jump right in. 11 minutes later I'm finally getting what i need. Oh well, Thanks, and keep on keeping on
Super helpful, thank you! I was wondering if you might know how to just have a short summary for each blog within a page that opens a new page once clicked to read the full article? In other words, rather than scrolling through each full blog one after another on the same page, there is a list to click on which opens in a separate page if that makes sense? Any help appreciated as I have been looking for hours!
Thank you so much!!! I was having real issues figuring this out. You were the only one to actually explain how to get to the admin page. I understand so much better now!
Thank you so much for creating this tutorial. You are a really good teacher!!!!! Make sure that you create some online classes on Udemy and other websites. You teach really well.
Hi it's a basic.. but so important to understand the structure of the website you are creating. Other tutorials explain that this structure, i.e. menu, category, posts is needed but none explain how to achieve and understand this structure. Thanks
Thanks tons! I'm curious-how many categories is too many on a menu? I have a Psychotherapy business website, with a blog. and I have about 9 categories (after deleting). Any thoughts? That's a LOT of drop downs...or I could do a special menu for blog only...and try to group things . Ok working it out...
OMG! Thank you so much....I chewed the brains of the Support dept. and they couldn't explain this very same thing better though they very patiently tried....Thanks a lot!!!!
Hello, thanks for you video, it was very helpful. I have a question, tough. I made several blog posts, and when I enter the blog page there are only six of them. There should be a second page of it somewhere showing my other posts as well, but I can't seem to fin it. I would very much aprecciate if you could help me. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much it made so much sense but for some reason I was not able to see the changes under my blog post. I am trying to make a sub menu to allow constant updates to once particular stream although the category is working it does not even show up below my blog so the two posts look stranded. Ill keep trying and i know its just me being thick 👍🏼
Do you have another channel, you are not active since 2017, pls let us know. You are fantastic. Kept it so simple, your voice is very much clear. Pls answer.....
Wish I would have watched this 3 years ago. I have a question though, if you have already created pages and posts but want your pages to have "sticky" posts so people get notifications of them when you post them, can you do that?
Helpful but not relevant...he just made it more time consuming...it will be better if you just had shown how to do it more quickly...more than taking an 1 hour tutorial..
This was incredibly helpful! You explained it in a very concise and informative way. I had been looking through other UA-cam videos and articles to answer several of the questions that I had, but none of them seemed to be particularly useful. I clicked this video and it seems like you answered all of my questions. Great work, and thank you for your service! :)

hello brother, its helping me, but I want to make a single page site where i need to appear different categories connecting with top menu anchor. I know how to anchor with menu but how to make different categories on one page ?
I have a question: I followed your tutorial to the letter and cannot figure out why my categorized posts are not appearing in my categories. I have created the categories and assigned them to my menu, but when I click on the category menu item, no posts show up, even though I assigned the post to that category. I have been struggling so much with this and can't seem to figure it out. Thank you, this was a very helpful tutorial!
Go to the tab ‘Post’ >’Status & Visibility’ Check if post ‘Visibility’ is set to ‘Public’ Check if ‘Publish’ is set to ‘Immediately’ Uncheck ‘Pending Review’
Hello. I want to show post by category. But I want to start from post number 4. That means I don't to display the first 3 posts of that category. Sir, how can I do that?
Hi, Solly. Thanks a lot for your vibrant teachings. Please, I've the following problem and I urgently need your help: what do I do to rectify the "No postings Found message?" I thought the problem would be solved after publishing, but that's not the case. Or do you advise that I unpublish the whole thing?
Thank you so much for the video, really helpful, but some of my posts still appear on the homepage despite the fact that i have actually unchecked the uncategorized box and assigned to their respective categories. They appear both on their respective categories and the homepage itself. Need help, any clue? :(

Have you figured out how to do this? This seems extremely necessary yet no one is talking about it and I cant find information on it anywhere!!
Create a "read more" insert to shorten it or I can't spend time on this. lol
