- Lindsey is at a tv music competition but in the mean while a group of gangsters after barry over trouble with bar brookie go on the bounce to Lindsey and kidnapp her and jackie goes to get sheila to come back to the close to talk sense in to barry to finish the business and get Lindsey back
I rented this from my local Blockbusters in 1998. A worried and sympathetic look engrossed the face of the blockbuster staff member as he checked out the video for me. I asked him when it was due back..he said “don’t worry keep it. I’ll pay a couple of quid out of my own pocket and chalk it up to a lost tape”!! 🥳✊🏽
Bollocks.
@@theculturedthug6609 True story!! It was the Blockbuster in Reading!
Brilliant. That person didn't know what gem it had on its hands 😂
I remember going down on release day to get this at Woolworths
i wanted this so so badly when it first came out but i was only 13 and it was an 18 certificate. finally did get it from a charity shop when i was 16 :d
adam firth omg same lol! I tried to put it in the trolley when my mum was shopping lol but she clocked on!
Me too!!
I got mine from hmv then took back after I watched it 😉
Same here i wad 9 years old asking my nana to get me it she wasnt happy but she new i loved brookside lol
Loved this as a teenager. Just watched again after years... the script is DIABOLICAL.
Not as diabolical as Claire Sweeney's singing.
@@Onmysheet it’s in his kisssssssss!
best soap ever they should bring it back
I was wonder if they should, but ask yourself, would it really ever be the same? Sadly, I personally don't think it ever would.
Too right Louise!
@Tyrone Williams They need to bring back Jimmy Corkhill though
It had its day and got crap towards the end and lost its appeal and failed to keep up with its rivals. So it’s not going to ever come back nor should it. It died for a reason. It wouldn’t be the same. I think your comment is more based on nostalgia... like me. I miss the old days and how this program was. But I wouldn’t watch it if it started again. The characters would be new and it would be a while different programme
@@supernaturalrealm7143 tbf look how bad other soaps are today
Can't believe they put Sue Johnson, instead of Johnston, in the credits!
It was great to see this again after many years. Thank you for posting it.
bring back Brookside
Preach
'Jimmy, do you have to live up to your reputation as a dickhead?' any other soap character swears it sounds odd and weird, Barry Grant swears and it's like second nature Paul Usher was born for roles like this
Finnigan must have bought that phone off del boy 😂
😂😂😂😂
"Fukkin' do it, ya gobshite!" 😄
Barry grant was a great villain ,also in EastEnders and the bill
Another time when Barry stepped up to the plate...possibly his finest hour 👊
Gerard Kelly a Scottish legend ❤️🙏
Rest his soul.
I loved him in Hammer House of Horror - the thirteen reunion.
The comic strip presents... More Bad News, and Mr. Jolly Lives Next Door.
Wow 1997 I was 13 when I watched this I'm now 38 n still remember this classic. Barry grant Lindsay ❤️❤️💯💯
35 and watched it all the time
@@chrisplatts6037 🙏👍
1997 wow only seems like yesterday. I can't believe this is almost 30 years ago. It's like the 60s in the 90s. That's how long ago it was now scary 😮
Brilliant 2 live shows ! Loved brookie wish it was back on
20 years since it got booted
@@chrisplatts6037 it deserve to get booted it got absolutely ridiculous.
Been re-watching some of the old episodes of Brookside. Currently up to those leading into ‘The Lost Weekend’ special. Barry Grant was a top-rank gangster. He was always a tough guy but, in the intervening years from his sudden departure in 1995 to this return, has become a more big league criminal.
Lindsey doing Cher is iconic.
As a manc i have to say Brookside was a great soap, watched many episodes back in the day. the body under the patio, Barry and Terry on the beach with the gun, jimmy on drugs etc etc. gotta say Dean who played jimmy was a great actor especially playing a drug addict hooked on smack. so sad to hear Dean lost his battle with prostate cancer, his soul united with god, jesus and the angels where he's no longer suffering. all the people of Liverpool should be mighty proud as Brookside was a truly great soap, and not forgetting the Fab Four the Beatles and Frankie goes to hollywood.
This was brilliant when I first watched it... the swearing...after so many years of the programme, hearing them swear was a SHOCK!
Terry has a bit of a brass neck turning up at Bar Brookie for a bevy. He did one before the building work on the new bar was complete, whinging about stress and leaving business-partner Jacqui Dixon with a pile of unpaid bills.
I don't watch much television but I was staying in Huyton, 1984, with family. I'd watched an episode of Brookside and we got talking about it the next morning over breakfast. My uncle got me in his car and we drove over to the set.
It was so very interesting it being in that close.
Then I moved to London and made friends with a group who'd studied in Liverpool and knew Dean Sullivan who played Jimmy Corkhill. They spoke well of him
Both events tipped me into watching a few episodes. Well more than a few. It was my guilty pleasure.
The accents and the quirky set worked for me.
I worked long hours then. When I said I was off , for us, early to watch Brookside there was a lot of mickey taking.
Funny thing though, the next day a lot of my colleagues knew rather too much about the episode.... they'd skipped off to a pub and watched it there.
Nostalgia of a kind.
👏👏👏
Use to love brookie should bring it Back! I watched this for many years
'Tell Barry to go back to where he came from' well that's a stupid line considering Barry is already back where he came from
coming from a scotsman living in England to a scouser in Liverpool haha
I recognise that building Lindsey's singing in , it's in Hollyoaks
Yeah it would have been on the shops in Brookside that's where hollyoakers filmed today.
I like seeing Barry and Lynsey together they were good together I miss brookside it was fantastic thanks 🙏 for this upload
What where you gonna do with that?? Peel me to death 🤣🤣🤣
You can tell whoever wrote the description is deffo a scouser, I don't think anywhere else in England says they go on the bounce, I've only ever heard it in Liverpool
I’m not from Liverpool but my family is and I did it in Liverpool slang because it’s based in Liverpool that’s why lol 😆
I remember when the VHS came out 😂😅 I was first in the queue at Woolworths on said morning, waiting to buy it for myself and my mam.
Was there a que? 😂
Barry Grant was the only actor to be in the first and last episode of brookside.
Actually, he was one of two actors - John Whitehall who played "the milkman" was also in the first & last episodes!!
Legend
This was the best soap ever miss it loads
Searched high and low all over dundee when this came out on the saturday , was sold out everywhere . Eventually got it in asda , only couple left 😂. Watched it saturday teatime before heading out on the drink , great memories 😂
Thanks for uploading this, really good to see after so long.
Imagine not being able to find someone in a shipping container. With a torch.
Barry grant was the top gangster but callum was also dangerous
Emma Piper needed an apology. Barry proposed marriage, asked her to move into his house on the Close, made promises then did a disappearing act. No explanation, no apology....nutt’in!
Sin’s right (or ‘Sumo’ using his new nickname) about Barry. Within two years since leaving the Close (leaving the beautiful Emma Piper in the process), he’s moved up from being a hard-nut villain to big time gangster.
lol I got this for Xmas in 1997 or 98, everyone else in school was obsessed with Leonardo di Caprio girly shite and I was more interested in these scallies. The specials were funny as it was a really good excuse for the cast to turn the air blue when on the normal brookie you were lucky if you heard the word crap!
I remember owning this on VHS!😀 Great times.
Me too 😄
Me too.
I remember always seeing it on the back of magazines Britannia video Club😂
"Jimmy, do have to live up to your reputation as a dickhead"? 😂😂
Blimey. Sue Johnstone. I forgot just how phenomenal she is. I adore her
Straight into the laughs 1:20 😂 Cher Sweeney
Lindsay must be char omg . I remember this and the 13th ...wow . Bring back brookside 💯🙏👍
I have remembered this really well its been very long time since it was on video
"Simpsons Are On At Six, Call Back At Seven"
It would have been cool to see Bobby Grant show up.
Aye aye soft lad what's going on here. 😂
Claire Sweeney is a horrific singer. If I'm ever depressed I watch this and it never fails to make me scream laughing. Very good actor though. Paul Usher .... phwoaaaarrrr!!!!
So glad brookie back
I use to have this on VHS I watch on UA-cam now and then still amazing I love ending too it great way to get rid of someone shove them in shipping container least they get free holiday aha
used to love this! You wouldn't have the episode where Barry does the warehouse raves or know what series it was?
Think that’s in the 1990s around October time Onwards ua-cam.com/play/PLhNirHJ5KlNk4haCVOW1Ube4RzVnxIFJw.html
I loved Paul Usher in 1982.... I loved him in 1997... and I love him in 2024! ❤
Takes me back to my childhood. Bit painful to watch now. But Calum Finnegan. He's brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
It's bunny 😂
Barry Grant the Tommy Shelby of the 90s ( except he's a scouser and it's 70 years later , but you know what I mean ) 😉
I sometimes watch Brookside episodes on here. I remember most of it from back in the day, so I'll dip in somewhere at random and watch a load in sequence from that point if it's a particularly good run of stories. I've recently been watching episodes from where Callum Finnegan first appeared. Spoilers ahead: I have nailed the exact moment where the seeds of Brookie's downfall began. It was right there, the moment we first saw him. The show continued to be fairly strong right up until the Musgrove's arrived at the end of 1998, that's when it plummeted. But the Finnegan stuff was ludicrous, that's where Brookside entered its hollow 'gangs and guns' era. It sparked the Jacqui Dixon surrogacy story, which was boring as hell and went on forever. You could see exactly where it was heading right from the outset, every time they cut to the Farnham's or Jacqui I felt my eyes roll. It's also the point where the Corkhill's jumped the shark. Way too much Lindsay as an overnight gangster, "Doin' it for our Kylie.". In a nutshell, Brookside's final peak year was 1997. 1998 saw it sliding. 1999 was where it absolutely crashed and never recovered. The Lost Weekend punctuates the point where heyday Brookside ended, and the tragic spiral began.
Come back brookie
i was shocked when jimmy says f bomb😄😄😄
Lots of f. I could not recall this way back! Not your usual soap 😊
Barry grant to sing live on stage we had cher now its time to have some usher
Knicker-gripping. Superb.
I've never seen this in years .
Thanks mark
I bet the actors had a lot of fun working together for the last time
Cant get hold of barry grant in liverpool hes in london in the bill and has changed his ways hes now a police officer in the met
The villain reminds me of del boy.....LUVVLY JUBBLY!!!
Terry reappears, despite having driven off in a sulk a few months before, leaving business-partner Jacqui Dixon with a pile of unpaid bills and no word to his dad about his whereabouts.
There are unbelievable videos so far I am so glad it’s brookside so you uploaded there are all brilliant so far have you got some more of them I wonder if you got the once like when Ron Dixon and his family and friends been holding hostage. In his own home. Matthew and Emily got killed in the car crashed. Susannah been pushed from her death. John Clark holding hostage. Margi attacked Susannah when she found out about her and Greg. Jenny been pushed by Mick. Ron Dixon shoot the wrong burglary. Jackie C and Shelley’s cat fight. Sammy leaved her daughter home alone. The Bangkok storylines. Leanne spies the acid in Jacqui s eyes. Jacqui and Katie cat fight. The millennium club exploded and also Nikki been raped that’s would be great
Continuity error. Finnegan used a Granada Scorpio yet it was a Ghia that was torched at the container base.
Found this on death of Dean Sullivan 29th Nov 2023
I remember this was rated 18 on vhs
Barry Grant 😍😍
This is more comical than anything 🤣
The guitar 🎸 music 😊❤
Where is this placed in the timeline of the regular episodes.
Bought from a reduction bin at local coop 😂 ended up recording over the video using celotape the tabs 😂 good dsys😂
This was great although they was a few continuity eras. When Sheila was in the show Jimmy was with Kath so Sheila/Jackie wouldn't have known each other too well. Also Jimmy said that Barry wouldn't walk away from the feud with Joey Godden, it was Jimmy's feud and he was the one who wanted to keep it going when Billy and Barry wanted things to end.
Yea but because Sheila married into the Corkhills we can only assume they met off screen over the years so that explains how Jackie knew Sheila.
Jackie said earlier that they lived on the same estate previously before they moved to the close. The Corkhills and the Grants. So I assume they all knew each other previously some how. 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Amazing to think that finnegan was a young rookie cop in Juliet bravo
50:45 make us a cuppa tea 😂

What a film
Isn't one of Callums goons one of the Joker's goons in Batman 89? (The one in that film who had a black curly haired mullet in the parade scene as well as the museum?)
Fantastic story
Haha, she kept her Cher wig on
Was that Tommy McArdle on phone. Played out as a greatest hits (not saying that's a bad thing) so kinda guessing it is.
how many references to action heroes?
Lindsay played by Claire Sweeney started working in the chipper within 6-months she was married a gangster's moll and running a nightclub and the main character........ than they made all these Specials with Claire Sweeney....
It's not hard to see why this show ended they never had anything to follow so the storyline on the patio other than drugs drugs drugs drugs and more drugs ..... the official last reviews of the show was it was too gruesome and violent.... I mean terrorists taken over a 2 bed house in a cul-de-sac very far fetched...... they never really had a local pub .... like the queen vic , Rover returns or woolpack....... it could have been better but the guy who created it didn't want help and like so many other things in life he had his pride he should have accepted some help with storylines get a new producer. But nope. He let it die with his ludicrous storylines
20:15 The Simpsons 😂
39:33 A very young Johnny Vegas. Lol.
personally, it went downhill after this, I know the Incest Storyline and the fallout from The Jordache case maybe didn't help, but this was almost like a last hurrah!
i liked this but i agree the writers did really spoil lindsey's character before beiing finally written out
absolutely, once she got involved with Barry and Callum she changed from boring troubled young mother to a bi sexual gangster, absolutely absurd! It also didnt help Barry's character who was in my top 3 fav characters along with Karen Grant and Beth.
They did some good storylines over the last few years like Jimmys depression. This was good though. Has anybody got anymore footage of Barry in action like his feud with Joey Godden or destroying Kennys car.
if you search brookside episodes june upto september 1990 you will find the corkhills vs joey godden and barry grant storyline. the kenny maguire stuff is no longer on here but you could ask the uploader sinbad0p i know years ago he downloaded dosens of eps and is currently uploading them to youtube currently working on 1986
They have The Corhills/Goddens pub fight from Sep 1990 on here and Godden talking to Rods mate the day before but they is a lot of stuff missing like Godden hitting Billy with the pool cue, Godden trying to run Billy over, Barry going after Godden with the gun. Goddens return in 91 was also worth watching, where he ended up as Jimmys partner for his next armed robbery.
Is this set in 1998?
1997 you pair of divvys
5:45 "aye you, ya wanker"
Claire....or CLUUUUUUR Sweeney is like a 10th rate cruise ship...not a cruise ship singer just a cruise ship!!!!
Ooo yer harsh 😮😊
@bexsta7766 can't believe I said that so out of character must've been my bipolar phase lol
i had this on video
Lindsey's Barry's cousin, isn't she? Or is she his step - cousin?
Step-cousin
Yumma Yumma Yumma
