Alabama's performance in this game proves why Saban chose Jalen Milroe to be the starter. He is the most athletic QB they have, and with his improvements, Milroe gives the Crimson Tide their best chance to win it all. Let's see how far they can go.

Don’t rlly like seeing McKinstry playing punt returner as he’s probably the best CB in the country and we’ll need ‘em. Hopefully McKinstry/Campbell/Moore are good to go for Texas.
I can speak as a New York Giants fan that yeah, you probably don't want your best CB (let alone arguably the best CB in the country as you say) returning punts. No need to risk that. Losing Adoree Jackson last year hurt the Giants' defense greatly. That would apply to any valuable skill position player I would say. Granted this is college and I'm sure Bama has plenty of good enough players to not really lose much of a step, but why take the unnecessary risk
Saban puts his best players on special teams. Always has. Waddle, Maze, Eddie Jackson, Cyrus Jones, Arenas, etc. Kool-aid is as dynamic a return guy as there is, and can break a game wide open if he gets free.

Appalachian State beat TX A&M last year at Kyle Field. Not as big a win as beating Michigan in Michigan Stadium (App St was FCS back then), but still pretty darn big.
So many lopsided games in just this first week, I can’t even count how many were already over by the end of the first/second quarter. Whoever makes these matchups and schedules should be ashamed of themselves, it’s not fun seeing so many teams get blown out by another with very little to no competition whatsoever.

I'll acknowledge that IF Alabama beats a top team this year (not a relatively good group of 5 team, a top, playoff-contending team). They couldn't last year until Kansas State, in a bowl game, before bidding farewell to their best 2 players. They tried twice and lost. It'll be fact again when they prove it (and they might, but it's not a foregone conclusion).

No, I remember Alabama beating all three of them. Multiple seasons ago, with significantly different rosters. I just need to see them do it THIS SEASON before I believe they're still a top team. Last time Bama beat any of them was two years ago, when Bama beat LSU, then beat Georgia in the SEC title game before Georgia beat them in the national title game.
Yes, Alabama HAS beaten elite/top teams in the past. But they couldn't last year when it mattered. And now they no longer have Bryce Young and Will Anderson, who helped buoy a team that really didn't play as dominantly as they should've. Just because they COULD before doesn't mean they CAN now, especially after last year. They still have to prove themselves.

Appalachian State beat TX A&M last year at Kyle Field. Not as big a win as beating Michigan in Michigan Stadium (App St was FCS back then), but still pretty darn big.

So many lopsided games in just this first week, I can’t even count how many were already over by the end of the first/second quarter. Whoever makes these matchups and schedules should be ashamed of themselves, it’s not fun seeing so many teams get blown out by another with very little to no competition whatsoever.

Milroe looked awesome but Buchner looks like if he gets the opportunity ever he'll steal the position without a doubt. They have 3 qbs including Simpson that would be a starter in any d1 powerhouse

Milroe is the guy but for Buchner to come in during the summer and at least gets the #2 qb in the lineup says something but milroe is definitely more pass first and trying let the play develop before he takes off only do it unless you have to. And another thing I liked Alabama running a two te’s that will pay off in the season the run game around the edge as well. 2 penalties tonight cause last year no matter who Bama played they were coming out of the game with 12 plus.
