I watched the first few minutes of Heroes to see if it was worth watching and decided to bump it to the top of my list. Your endorsement makes me feel I was justified.
Decided to rewatch Joy of Life as I await Joy of Life 2. I forgot how wonderful this was. Everything: acting, writing, casting, costumes, sets, characters. No problem rewatching, I can't help but binge. Having watch too numerous to count Chinese dramas and many male actors I am convinced no one else other than Zhang Rouyun could have done this role. The amount of lines, screen time required only his natural acting talents facial expressions, mannerisms, body language could succeed in this role. Fan Xian was written for Zhang Rouyun. ❤😊
I only hope Joy Of Life 2 won't disappoint. That's it. Hopefully Wang Juan kept the same heart and really cared for his work. I don't even wanna think about "failure" or whatever. I wanna keep positive mind about the quality of the show
Joy of life is so so massively anticipated. Last I checked it has surpassed 16M reservations and with expectations so high and with such a long wait, I pray everyday that it performs well and is high quality just like the first one coz since expectations are so high, it is gonna be hard to impress as well but still I can't wait to watch it!
I'm up to episode 8 of Heroes and really enjoying it! Such an interesting time period, beautifully filmed, and the plot doesn't stop moving. Also, It's such a delight being able to watch 2 Liu Yuning shows at once, since his variety show The Truth 2 is also airing right now. ☺
I love your c-drama updates ❤ If I can make a suggestion, when you introduce or start talking about a drama, can you show a drama poster followed by images of the leads? It would be much easier for the audience to reference/imagine the drama you’re talking about. Thank you!!
Finally S2 of Joy of life!!! Now I will rewatch s1 again. I kind of forgot what happened there and just remember it vaguely. Just finished Tender light. Start till end I liked it very much. Now watching Regeneration (not what I thought of when I think of con- movies or drama) and I am finally interested after the 7th episode, and now there's only 3 more left. And still over 2 months for Lost you forever s2.
i just watched joy of life season one second time to prepare for season 2 ,it is good and i hope they do great on s2 ,the cast and story deserves the best

Been really enjoying Heroes so far! It’s so good and engaging! The storyline and each development of the characters have been so well done and a joy to watch. Liu Yuning’s acting has come such a long way and it’s been great seeing him expand his acting range in these new projects. I’ve been a fan since The Long Ballad to A Journey to Love, Eternal Brotherhood and now Heroes 😊
Shorter dramas makes more sense because the plot is not dragging and more on point, Regeneration, To the wonder and will love in spring is a good example best drama so far
I am with you. I notice how short the episodes. I don't recall any C-Drama with short episodes. I watch only the first episodes of Heroes and Tell no one. But I can't deny I can't wait for Joy of Life 2. Right now I re-watch 27 episodes. I will finish the rest this weekend with pop corn and pizza before going back to work. The end episode of JL-1 was a serious drama. So it's hard to continue it with a Goofy, slapstick first episode for JL-2. As a whole, through out cinemas history. It's not easy to better or out do the first one. We can only hope to be entertained continuously with/and consistently.
I'm kinda sad in Joy of Life 2 they replaced the Ye family daughter actress with Jin Chen. I thought the old actress fit a general's daughter vibe real well.

Among these, I think 'Heroes' can be counted as one of the better one in the recent year for historical fiction genre. And by recent, I mean among TV series of this genre in the past 10 years (at least), it can be counted among the best ones in logic, background, actor ability (especially main actors/actresses), and camera. It has been a really long time since I am in the mood to sit down watch through a whole ep without fast forward, with Chinese drama. This has been a joy to watch. Logic is tight, characters are lovely, and everything makes sense (what a miracle). There is room for improvement of course. But most are in acceptable level. The only thing that I feel unsatisfied about this one is the action scenes. Really, I don't understand current Chinese director's love for slow motion. Do they really need to slow everything down like that??? The side characters' (played by older actors) scenes at least give the feeling of speed due to their movements are designed into a full flowing sequence (not the best, but acceptable), but for some reason the director still slow down their scenes even when it's clearly they can do it in normal speed (or better, speed up). When it comes to the main characters, especially the two leads, my god, one fight was broken into ten choppy different poses instead. Can they have at least one full sequence of movement in normal speed instead? The camera angles make it feel like they fight at the pace of a snail. The only good thing is both actors do seem to put effort into their fight scene, the power is there, to a certain point, just not the speed. I'd fast forward action scenes, if not because they talk important things during their fight. Current director should really learn from old movies, 天下武功 唯快不破啊。
Joy of Life S2 seems to have lost some steam/momentum compared to the peak reached by the end of S1. Somehow, it's a bit scattered and the lead is now trying a tad too hard, making it overly contrived in order to achieve the "magic" of S1. Hope it does get better.
Sorry to be the unimpressed guy, but I'm hoping JoL2 is much better than its WILDLY over-rated 1st Season. That thing dragggggggged and only got interesting towards the end with Xin Ze Li and that 'magic castle' situation in the sky.
