  • In this lecture we are going to understand the procedure for determining rating of a diesel generator for a certain load. Usually DG rating is determined in KVA. In this lecture both KVA as well as ampere rating calculation has been given with crystal clear explanation.

    Thanks for the explanation. I want to ask few questions:
    1. Why did you use 400V for the 3-phase voltage instead of 415V?
    2. What is the running hour you can advise for such DG? when exceeded, what is the likely effect?

      400 or 415 depends on your country requirements. Similar to 230V or 240V.
      You must look at your DG specs for the running hours. If exceeded the engine may seized but highly unlikely because all DG has its own protection.

    I didn't see any relevance of a Power Plant under this topic. Also 11min video for a 2 min concept :(
    The main part of KVA × 0.8 = KW and 80% rule is good :)
