Another value added from DT! That's why I became a Patreon supporter. Your explainations and instruction has made a huge difference in my business and I and my partner have not only gone paperless, but have been able to use EN as an effective marketing tool. This added info will allow us to take it one step further! Thanks Steve!
One of the best shorties you have done in a while... ... Exactly the why I subscribe, take the 'normal' use of a standard good app and stretch it a bit : )))))
This is really cool! I like the idea of using evernote instead of pdfs. ALSO I LOVE THE idea of using evernote for a course. All those course programs overwhelm me.
@dottotech thank you for amazing information as always and never the less. I can’t wait for your answer for the question ; Do you store your images and videos in Google drive or Evernote and why is whatever the reason ; Accessibility , search ability monthly, membership fee etc ? Thank you for answering . Cheers , Yusuf
I typically use local drives to back up my videos and all my images etc are stored in either Google Photos, or Dropbox (if I am sharing them with the team)
I love this! It looks exactly like what I need. However, I was wondering if there were any differences in this feature between a free Evernote account and a premium one?
I had no idea this publishing was a feature of this useful program that I have used for years. I love the integration between my IPhone, IPads, Mac and WIndows PC. This Web Publishing opens yet a whole new way to use it. What features would I gain or lose, if instead of Evernote, I used something like "Square Space", that builds web pages? Thanks again for a most interesting new feature. I just tried the Share feature and I do not get a dialog box on my Mac. (Using Chrome Browser). Instead, I get a menu of items like email, twitter, etc. The closest to the dialog is when I use the "link" menu. That opens up a web page with the items your dialog box had.
Evernote is, indeed, a great tool for many things, productivity and publishing wise. Aside from Postachio allowing one to post notes through a web page or blog scheme, I have not always been a fan of the "bare bones" published note. The Evernote header and logo at times seem to be more prominent than the actual content one has. One alternative which is coming up through the ranks is Notion.so It is carrying a lot of momentum as an "all in one" solution, and publishing content is also a feature it has. Unlike Evernote, the published, or shared, page has no branding, so one gets a clean page with the focus on what one is sharing. This is just one of the many things it does, but you may want to take a good look at it yourself, Steve :)
Is the use of Evernote as a publishing tool like shown compatible with GDPR in Europe or does this way only make problems if you do it inside the EU? Thank you.
Very cool Steve! Thank you. How similar would this be to sharing a link to content with Dropbox? Can those ginormous URL's that Evernote generates for this content be shortened with a tool like TinyURL?
You could share a link, but then someone needs to have the app to view the document in Dropbox, Evernote resolves in the browser. Yes link shortening works.
Thanks. But, you don't mean the recipient needs to have Dropbox installed on their computer, do you? I am a teacher, like your wife-bless her heart!, and I deliver all my course content via Dropbox web links to my students. In fact, my entire course is available to my students as a Dropbox web link. The content renders in their browser. Most of them do not have Dropbox accounts and do not have Dropbox installed on their laptops. The reason why I asked my original question is b/c I was curious what extra functionality Evernote may possibly bring to the table beyond Dropbox. But, I do think Dropbox supports the feature, at least at a basic level.
And don't forget you can add attachments like pdfs or even zip files containing a number of different files. The only real problem is the gobbledegook url if you are not able to email it to people but want it on paper. A QR code is probably the way to go. The only time I tried using a URL shortener for an Evernote link it got blocked by the URL shortener site and I don't really understand why - may have been a one off.
Still useful but time moves on With that link (at 5 mins 26) I get the message Note not found The URL provided does not correspond to a valid shared note. This may be caused by a typo in the link, or the note owner may have made it private.
Steve, I wonder what is the difference between using Google Drive (which also lets you share spreadsheets and presentations) and Evernote? I started using Evernote and took your course a while back but still don't see the value added with Evernote.
I've been using Evernote for years and one of my favorite things is the webclipper. I grab web-content many times daily that I want to save, read, etc and with the simple view, it cleans up the pages to remove all the clutter. That content is then available across all of my devices. Its ability to capture an image and auto-crop, capture audio, etc... the list goes on. Import a PDF, PPT etc and they are searchable, and saved/synched. Drive is amazing as well but it isn't drive that is the competitor, its Sheets, Docs, etc.
It’s a good solution if you have some document to share. As another con, AFAIK, is no SEO. Is it right? As for online courses, how do we set up a paywall to access our courses? do you refer to free courses? TNX!
You are correct, no SEO, You can't completely lock the pages down, I don't worry about a firewall, someone could rip me off by sharing my links, but I don't spend much time worring about it.
I have been using Evernote extensively since I first signed up for it on April 9th, 2012 and I only have 19,200 notes and that includes having a lot of photos and digital scrapbooking graphics stored in Evernote. I would be lost without my premium version of Evernote as I use it to track and store data for many aspects of my life.
Can this be posted as an anonymous page that can't be easily traced to you? For instance, can you post an anonymous review of a product or person without attribution? i.e. facts about your cable company?
"You can't embed a video. That's about the only limitation I can think of." Well... if can't embed video, prolly can't embed audio either (ie Soundcloud widget). Or...use other widgets? Just a quick guess at other likely/similar capabilities that Steve didn't consider.
nice video, Suggestion, don't step on your message with your outro music so early and so loud. It is distracting and makes me want to go to the next video verses hearing you out.
I used to be a Lotus Notes Developer which was more powerful than Evernote and used in many corporations. But IBM bought them to get the corporate customers and stopped marketing it as a workflow tool, but only as email to get the clients to migrate to a much more expensive "enterprise" workflow/database/email system. They lost a lot of smaller customers. One problem with Evernote is there is no SUB-category or SUB-note, thus you have a massive collection of top level "notes" and no way to create sub-notes under them. Their tech didn't understand the issue. You should be able to create a hierarchy of notes by levels and it doesn't exist (that I found).
You are missing the strength of Evernote, the search and tagging features are so powerful that there is no need for visual search with elaborate hierarchies. Lotus notes-Old School - Physical structure. Evernote (lke google) new school.....search based.
The Networked notes structure (as in ROAM and Obsidian) is better. Lets you make not only hierarchies but also other arrangements. In Evernote you can make hierarchies via the "table of contents" feature or just straight manual linking (unlike ROAM etc. this doesn't at the same time create a link-back).
Hi Steve, I've been following you for quit a while and I like the informative short reviews and tutorials. Starting a BLOG just got way tougher here in Europe since the General Data Protection Regulation set in this past Friday May 25th.Very many websites (almost all of them actually) and Social Media and BLOGS have giant obstacles to climb in making their sites protect data (GDPR = www.wikiwand.com/en/General_Data_Protection_Regulation). If you you care to "read yourself" into this topic, would you care to comment on this or even get a tutorial up? This law (european wide) is the biggest thing to hit us in the last 20 years. Very many people are at a loss on how to get it implemented correctly. Data is being mined all over the net and now their is a law against this basically since Friday...what to do?
I have been watching, and there are a lot of tutorial up. I suggest waiting a bit for the dust to settle, and see where we are. The motive behind the GDPR is IMO on the right path. Don't panic, proceed with caution, but don't stop. Respect privacy and implement what you can as you figure out each aspect.

Great video! Would love to see a training expanding on how to use Evernote to deliver a course
I am new to Evernote and appreciate learning more.

A crisp and useful video as always.
Thanks for mentioning us, Steve! We're big fans of your work here at Postach.io.
I appreciate it! Keep up the good work!
Your Videos are very useful
Great tip, great presentation... Like always. Thanks a lot Steve.
It's useful to make your entry note a table-of-contents allowing the user to jump to a selection of notes.

Hi Steve thanks for the great video on Ever note .
I have been thinking a bout using it for some time .

Brilliant! I may have to just play with this... Just because!
Great tip, Steve

How to enlist for evernote tutorials

I am going to take a good look at Notion, looks like a very capable solution!
notion , notion... talk to me when notion.so has a web clipper. Until then, it in no way replaces Evernote
Can you compare or contrast Evernote with Microsoft’s One Note?
Is the use of Evernote as a publishing tool like shown compatible with GDPR in Europe or does this way only make problems if you do it inside the EU? Thank you.
I don't think this has any GDPR implications as you are not capturing anyones information, just sharing yours.
dottotech Thank you and best regards from Cyprus.
Do you think these pages are crawled by Google for indexing /ranking?
No, that is one shortcoming, no real search value.
Very cool Steve! Thank you. How similar would this be to sharing a link to content with Dropbox? Can those ginormous URL's that Evernote generates for this content be shortened with a tool like TinyURL?

Nice info sir, can you please make a video on Evernote (Paid version) vs Bear (pro version)?
The "only limitation you can think of" was just resolved! You can now imbed a video.

Drive is much more structured, and less useful for small bits of data. Evernote is a "Catch all" BUT it does not resonate with everyone......like you!

Hello Steve, I must be doing something wrong, When I post the link I lose all the nice graphics and just get a big Green Evernote Logo.
It’s a good solution if you have some document to share.
As another con, AFAIK, is no SEO. Is it right?

It makes +dottotech . Thank you!
Evernote has limit of 100k notes. I read on internet (google keep vs evernote). Is it dealbraker?
Hrishikesh Garud I've been using Evernote every single day since 2012 and I only have 5,000+ notes in Evernote. 100,000 notes is a lot of notes.
Seems like a lot of notes! Not a dealbreaker for me
The deal breaker is 200mb note limit and the limited editing capabilities... but I still have a paid account and I think it's still useful.
I have been using Evernote extensively since I first signed up for it on April 9th, 2012 and I only have 19,200 notes and that includes having a lot of photos and digital scrapbooking graphics stored in Evernote. I do not think so
Great topic, but I suggest the outro music should be lower - overrides and interrupts your voice.
Yep, we can do that!
6:07 I think it is possible in microsoft onenote.
Nice video
I am picking up my armaments to storm the castle. Thanks
Good info.!

Good mr
At this point is basically easier to list the thing Evernote can't do.
firesoul453 this software has a lot of potential, but some reason it refuses to improve.
The inconsistencies between platforms are what bugs me the most.
Thanks for the information. I thought Postach.io no longer exists because of unsuccessful.
Seems to be still alive!

Or, if you must have a "folder like" structure, use the tag hierarchy tools available in Evernote (on most platforms) to get the best of both worlds
The Networked notes structure (as in ROAM and Obsidian) is better. Lets you make not only hierarchies but also other arrangements. thank you santa
