A few months later, I had the chance to learn TM, and it has completely changed my life. Thank you, sir, for sharing this incredible gift with so many people. Rest in peace.

I was curious when I first clicked on this but had no intention of watching more than a minute or two. The film is so well made and listening to David speak was so interesting I wound up watching the entire film. I especially liked the way he spoke about the size and depth of one’s consciousness as it relates to the artistic process and creating art. Certainly a whole lot of food for thought here and so much to reflect on. Thank you for sharing this.

It is amazing how he can analyze, draw and flow his words without the slightest hesitation. That's a master's quality right there manifesting wisdom to all of us. RIP mr. Lynch! You may already have found the way to reanimate to something far more evolved than a human being.

His passing is really fucking me up and I am surprised how much it’s hitting me. I know we all pass, but Lynch left such an indelible mark on me as a child- and when he made good on a beat from Twin Peaks season 2’s finale? Returning 25 years later?
The art and intentions of his ouvre just continue to inspire me. ❤

Judgement is the Yin to empathies Yang, they are both equally important in an individual imo. David Lynch is pure empathy, understanding, non judgmental, creative.... but is he balanced, or is he just idealistic? His perception of reality is important, it's always present, but because of the dualistic reality of the self, it only represents one perception. I still appreciate his perception, it's a cornerstone of who we are.

    • @kariwattsup

I see a lot of sarcasm. He used it in his every word. He isn't sarcastic in a condescending way, but with a light heart full of awakened light. He isnt nicr when he does get mad. He is very blunt and honest. I dont mind a person like that getting mad at or around me. I live in truth. No guess work and no deception

Everything that’s happened in the past week - good and bad; has, with purpose, lead me here to this.
I would have given anything to be a part of one of his projects or just to meet him and chat for a bit.
But that time has come to pass, and I am still able to learn from him. Something more important than anything I could have learned before the recent events.
I have a long road ahead of me - but this is what I need. I have so much negative in my past, and deal with mental illnesses, fears….
He’s gone, but the seed is planted - it’s up to me now to learn how to water it and make it grow.

Im an artist, the oldest of four daughters, all of us auto didactic artists. One of my sisters is a famous artist and both of our parents are artists. Its a way of life for us. However, I've been in a dry place for a few years now, after losing all my artwork, writings, paintings sketchbooks, 35+ years of art. I lost everything and it broke my heart, along with other things. It feels like losing a child or a dear friend, a mother. I get inspired but I get frustrated too. David Lynch makes me see how essential and necessary it is that I get that part of my soul aligned with my heart and that I make peace with the most beautiful part of who I am. That I just open up again and give that a voice and platform again. My happiness depends on it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for that gift, among others.

This was the time period when I went to hear David Lynch on his book tour for Catching the Big Fish. He came to Chicago where I was a grad student at Loyola, and together with a friend we went to hear him speak at a large independent bookstore on the North Side near where I lived in downtown Chicago. It was standing room only at this bookstore that often hosted author events. Never had I seen a crowd that big at this venue. It was 2008, and I left that event excited about TM, sure that I had heard TRUTH, and determined to learn Transcendental Meditation myself. While I had been aware of TM since I was a teenager and the Beatles learned, and my brother and his family learned in the early 1970s at the Cambridge, Mass. TM Center, I had never really had a desire to learn it myself. After David's talk, I was on a mission. I knew I had to have this technique. But I was broke . . . as most graduate students are. It took me five more years before I could swing the $1500 fee (at that time) to learn TM. I never waivered from my determination to learn TM in those intervening 5 years, and when I did learn, I knew instantly I had just received the Pear of Great Price, the Keys to the Kingdom, the most important toiol I could ever wish to have in life. It did indeed transform my life. Thank you Mr. Lynch, for being the instigator and the inspiration in my own journey. Jai Guru Dev.

Back in May of '17, I had a free coupon to see any movie at a cinema here in Malmö, Sweden. At first I wanted to see an Indian movie, but they were only showing it in their bistro, and that cost extra. So I settled on "David Lynch: The Art Life". It not only inspire me to create more, but it also inspired me to google David. That lead me to this documentary, which lead me to want to learn TM.
In August that same year I found TM teachers and after attending a lecture I signed up instantly. After a lifetime of depression and anxiety, and years of trying different methods of therapy, I felt that this could be right. And it was.
During the first week many of my traumas started to get treated. Now 4 months into it, I can feel love and stop feeling distant to everything and everyone.

A few days ago I mentioned David Lynch in conversation. I hadn’t said his name or thought about his movies in quite some time. That same day, I searched for Buddhism in prison and I came upon this channel. It’s hard to draw any sort of conclusion about this phenomenon. The more I watch for it, the more it seems to happen. Synchronicities and manifestations. I’m glad to see such a great mind takes meditative and spiritual practices so seriously as it’s still something I’m skeptical about, but slowly accepting.

The reality is always becoming more complex as different things take different paths, however - it ends up in the state of perfect balance which presents itself as the “moment.” Hence, synchronicities are inevitable!
For example, in an ecosystem, if one lifeform is evolving in a seemingly unique path, it is inevitably in response to the biome, and without realizing it, this lifeform is also affecting the biome, so somehow, despite the singularity of each object’s path, the end result is always perfectly synchronized, even if we are blind to it! To notice these synchronicities is just one of the great pleasures of being alive!!!

Now I understand much more about this donut. I ve been trying it, and it seems hard in the beginning. I suffered from chronic depression since childhood and adhd. But i think it gives me energy and focus. I go to therapy and i hope everything together works to building a better self.
Thank you for all your effort to put TM out there and people to know about it.
    Love,
    Mai

I've found personally if u except all your emotions as they come to u and don't resist none of the negative emotions, you're truely at one with yourself and the world around u. except all that comes your way, embrace the frictions of life and u will see that its truely a blissful feeling. tranquel, exctasy, at one with everything.

Thinking you need to "stop it" is what is keeping it going. Accept your anger. love it. Listen to it. Even your anger, believe it or not, wants what is best for you. It is just hurt and maybe confused on what is truly best and how to get it.

I'm in no way in a position to give 'advice', but - personally - I think the key here is the notion of 'driven'. Maybe work on a personal experiment where you slowly dissipate the 'drive' part, without oposing the feelings in themselves. Let the feelings be, just step back and watch them unfold. Thoughts and feelings are streaming down like a river over us and it doesn't mean that all of them truly belong to us or that we are them.
Feel the way you feel, but don't let those negative or non-constructive aspects 'dictate' your actions. I'm sure it's easier said than done, but I'm thinking that since you are aware of those feelings, what they are, what you feel and that they 'drive' you (so you aknowledge that they make you act in certain ways that you otherwise, without said feelings, wouldn't act, right?), you are already in the position of trying this out.
And since you aknowledge those feels and the actions and maybe attitudes they give birth to, it means it bothers you enough, and that you know there is another way, to be, to act... and to feel. But until then, one must work on creating a mental framework, a mindset that they can return to - in *spite* of their (negative) feelings. I mean, you probably already do that, what do I know.
So the question (for me) would be: if you were to be driven by more 'positive' feelings, how would you act?
Also, of course, there's the issue of seeking out specialised help; the mind and brain have professionals dedicated to it just like there are to any other body part, organ or function. We can't know everything. And when something intereferes with a constructive, beneficial flow in your life, maybe it's time to make a visit. :)
Just my two cents, I figured it's neutral and/or harmless enough

I find it very interesting (and kind of puzzling) how Lynch greatly emphasises themes of suffering and the dark side of the human experience in his work, while actually having such a very positive outlook and mindset. It surprises me why somebody with such an attitude would produce such dark and disturbing content! On the other hand, even though it's often dark and "ugly", it's not only that, it's always balanced out somehow through elements of beauty and wonder (about this very suffering?) which give it the edge that makes it so special. That's the genius of his work imo; how continually the light within the dark is revealed and vice versa.
Bringing out beauty and wonder, a sense of lightness and humour in even the darkest places.
Still I find it somehow contradicts or renders questionable what he said about suffering and negativity completely lifting in that meditative state; if all that can, as he claims, be completely transcended, then why is it still being thematised and emphasised so much in his own work, as if to illustrate that it's completely inevitable? Or is it perhaps a pointing out that to transcend suffering, one has to also transcend the realms of perception we usually dwell in?
I get that he doesn't purposely and consciously picks out themes, but I still wonder how and why he ends up with them... I also get that he doesn't like being analysed, but you can't really help it... Damn you, Lynch.

As he says He’s tapping into the collective unconcious in his films, which is mostly darkness. I also assume he was traumatized as a child. If you've experienced stuff like that or still experiencing it, it’s kind of enlightening to see such a seemingly happy guy perfectly putting this stuff onto cinema. He’s happy but not trying to sugarcoat stuff.

I have to tell you, something that shocked me after Mahesh spent hundreds of millions of years collecting donations for these World Peace Groups. To be honest, however, this answer was somehow in line with previous answers. When I asked him spiritual questions, he never answered more than offered in the seven steps. Or he started one of his hour-long discussions about Veda and human physiology. Finally, I began to understand that Mahesh did not really understand the spiritual process and that if I really wanted to be enlightened, I would better take responsibility for the process and choose people who had successfully enlightened others and who know what's going on is.
So I started reading and researching on the subject (which Maharishi told us to do, or we could be confused otherwise) and I talked to a lot of people and here's what I learned to be the most important:
    1. Guru Dev has never given Mahesh spiritual instruction and never taught him to teach others. Rather, he told Mahesh he would never have anything to do with anything but material success.
