Steve Pocaro of Toto wrote Human Nature after he went to see his young daughter who had fallen off a slide at school and then been punched by a young boy, she’d asked her father ‘Why’ and he tried to explain it was Human Nature. He went into the studio (Toto were mixing Africa) and wrote it down. John Bettis then rewrote some of the verse lyrics.

Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson at their very best. I have no idea what the lyrics are about but the feel and atmosphere of the track are incredibly beautiful. RIP Michael Jackson, an extremely talented and misunderstood Peter Pan artist.

Take a good listen man....there will never be another like him....this is from "Thriller" in 1982, by far his best album. This was a new sound for that day and age, it's easy to see why this was such a smash hit in 1983. My 3 favs from Michael are "Rock with You" from 1979, this song, and "Beat It"

I think you should go through his discography in order. He was in his prime his entire life and in some way still is. You said before you started "is this young mike, older mike or prime mike''' but you have to know when he made thriller he was just 24 so still young. Love this song so much and Loved your reaction! Super underrated piece and I think it's one of my faves from this album. Seems like its not so label-forced but more his own song. Thriller and Beat It and Billie Jean are the best, and I love all three. I remember stopping what I was doing in the back yard at age maybe 8? Because I heard Billie Jean on the radio so I went up and pushed my ear to the screen door for the whole song, just standing still there on the back patio. I never did that for any song. Maybe a Queen song. At any rate, it was a moment, and one that I obviously remember decades later. Michael was on a wave, that's it.

This song and Man In The Mirror are the non Michael Jackson songs that to me are absolute gems. Quincy Jones and Mj were like sharks, everytime they heard a banger song made by another artist they got it quick and made it one of the hits if not THE HIT of the album!!
