I am enjoying the failing process. It's fun watching the testing process, and it's helpful to learn the thought processes behind working around game mechanics.
I think cyberball would he a good pick, with such a ridiculous amount of %damage and wanting to naturally pick up luck, you'll be essentially killing an extra 25% of enemies per attack per ball. That would probably help to keep the field clear.
I think locking bait to save two cost at the expense of not seeing two new items on the first shop the next round is an odds detriment. Still, big props for working on this challenge. Not for me. 😊
When you buy the four baits next shop you get a free reroll, so you see just as many items. Not sure if the free reroll counts towards increasing reroll cost, that might be a potential downside.
I didn't really consider shields - that's an interesting idea! I think the waveclear is too weak for the early game most likely, but worth a try for sure
@@Cephalopocalypse thats actually what i did for normal fisherman, spend some waves stacking stats then spamming baits like crazy, but for double fisherman this may be a bit harder with half the shop being baits
Absolutely love this one, maybe my favorite video from you yet! Would love to see the research runs too. This was so stressful to watch I can't imagine how stressful it is to play lol My very poorly educated opinion is to definitely steer clear of baby elephant, and it feels like harvesting doesn't help as much as some of the other stats but idunno 🤷
You should definitely show us the testing part too. Its very interesting and helps us a lot to understand the game better. Its NOT boring. Keep it up!!!!
As someone who beat this kit I understand the pain you went through like this thing was almost impossible but then I got a level to stick my first reroll and it was pretty much all uphill from there
Hi Cep, thanks to your video i manage to get all character complete danger 5. By the way, you can easily dodge the creature after they spawned you go directly right (like dead right) and go to the top right top top left and left cont while moved in big circle, its not a perfect circle and you still got hit by one or two shot but you will eventually learn the pattern and have enough damage to kill the creature in one shot. Note: you need to use range weapon, SMG is the best here. Quick flat range damage is necessary to build early, % Speed will also help, just take 1x 5% speed or snails to help with dodging.
I think you should try doing this challenge while concentrating and then do the commentary later as a voiceover. I know that's more difficult to edit and takes longer, but it seems like this will require your full concentration.
also, i think luck and crit chance need to be a dump stats in this run. and what if you switch out of sticks after lvl 3-5ish? ranged weapons might be preferable here, after the very early game.
Since bait ends up giving you so much damage, I dont think you should buy ANY sort of %dmg. Also, sticks dont need +melee dmg, so i think you should avoid that too. I believe you should focus on attack speed, armour and evasion early, then later get some crit and hope for hunting trophy. Lifesteal can help as well, but only when you already have some attack speed.
No reason to get crit. If you are not one shotting the lampreys you probably just lose, and it shouldn’t be that hard with the bait damage scaling. Bosses also are not really a problem, so no need to get crit for that
Doing some rough math, 6x level 2 sticks with an average of 5 baits per shop will give you enough damage to 1 hit the lampreys at level 20. I think focusing survivability, attack speed, and non-weapon damage (cyber ball, alien eyes, baby with a beard, maybe even elephant off trees and loot aliens would be worth it) is the way to do it. I'm guessing the amount of bounces would be too low early on, but I wonder how slingshots would do, or other multi hit ranged attacks. Maybe this is the day cactus club shines!
i would really like to see how you lern a new challange and how you approach it, so i would appreciate if you could upload your recordings at some point.
ghost flint instead of stick might work if you can surive early on, damage should not be an issue. maybe get some more range on level ups to keep more enemies at bay?
Finally beat this challenge after hours of pain, the only strategy I could make work was to start with sticks and transfer into SMGs as quickly as possible, using the sticks to get lots of baits in the early rounds and ideally having 3+ SMGs by round 6. Picking flat ranged damage, lifesteal and armor in that order. Lucked out and got baby with a beard which helped immensely. Great challenge will never do it again
So the "extra" bait showing up after locking baits in the shop is not a bug, I've seen this happen on un-modded fisherman runs before. I think the way the game guarantees bait in the shop for fisherman is by always including bait in the newly rolled shop items. So, with fisherman, you can lock the first bait and roll to get 2 baits in the shop. Then lock those two and roll to get three and locking three baits with the fourth shop slot unlocked will give you a shop full of baits. Alright, bring on the bait master comments lol
I enjoy the failed attempts. For some reason I enjoy these videos even though I’ve never played Brotato (found you through your awesome BG3 content), and prior to this video Brotato seemed like a very easy game because you usually win first run.
Its very nice to see aome failing runs, it makes them feel much more organic as opposed to feeling staged. When every upload ends with a success, it starts to seem a bit staged and predetermined
was it a good choice to lock 2 baits past wave 3 or up ? u save 2 materials initially, but u see 2 less objects (because all 4 1st objects in shop are now baits), and finally reroll after buying all your 8 or so baits just to see weapons, does it worth it ? what happen if you lock just 1 bait ? (price, quantity). thank you for your videos, always greats 👍, maybe you are too griddy here, and could survive with buying less baits
My only tip for anyone that plays Fisherman in this game- Dont buy Bait. The Lampreys are just too tough to beat. I've never gotten past Wave 2 when I buy Bait as Fisherman.
Have you tried a run that takes advantage of Etsy's couch? I had a run with the bull where it made sense to take it and then I proceeded to take every -speed I could find. Ended up with a character that could barely move and healed instantly. It was pretty fun.
fisherman: -100% bait price 2x fisherman: should be gain money for buying bait this video: costs 3 to take (from when i'm writing this comment, 12:16) also, streamer + streamer?
I am genuinely not sure how these costs are calculated to get these numbers, and it gets even weirder when you buy coupon and the -5% halves the price of the baits
I enjoyed seeing you try this build run. It was very interesting. I might recommend the alternative run where you don't pick bait up till later waves... Boring and defeats the point of playing this build, but easier.
Completed it with spears. I got just enough damage to one shot, and then only bought defense and minimal bait. What helped a lot was knowing the exact breakpoints to two hit the lampreys in the early waves. It’s 42 + 21 per level at danger 5
While I haven't done this challenge with the mod, my experience with the fisherman in general is that what I really want for my wave 1 level up is *movement speed*--even 3% makes a huge difference in dodging around that first crush of mobs when I'm underpowered and underleveled.

Problem is that you don’t get any material drops from enemy. Even with all the %damage its not worth it just for tree materials

i would have a different approach by buying shields, stacking armor and regeneration and then spamming baits but what you did was probably better

Dizzying and impressive, as I’ve said before your ability to evade is way beyond my capabilities

Thanks! Yeah the baby elephant pickup was definitely a mistake! I just forgot what run we were playing lol
Careful Cephalopocalypse, your midwest is showing with the loot vs lewd XD

So refreshing to see fails before success. You can learn a lot from them.

I don't think I would watch the initial research runs, but this kind of not-182-but-still-unfair run does interest me.
Is it because of the GMO mod 15% item price increase that causes the bait to be a weird price
Maybe! I still don't think the numbers add up no matter how you calculate it though
Multitasker/ Engineer. All the turrets!
getting rip and tear would be great imo
i have never been as bored and simultaneously stressed out by a video before.
Did you actually read this comment before sending it?
day 4 of suggesting one-armed + apprentice (i cant keep track at this point)
How does he combine characters with themselves?
It's a mod, linked in the description! (PC only sadly)
Any special settings to enable combining a character with itself? I've used gmo.
Heal turretthe real mvp
fisherman is on of the easiest classes for me. lots of materials and tons of %dmg
What a big failure!
Try Demon + Saver
I'm hoping to see streamer and soldier
really impossible run☠️
would you kindly work on the clicks you make while you talk. Great content otherwise

This is so weird. I forced myself to do Shredder for Fisherman and the movement for dodge and grouping is so different.
If you really want to min max, it would be helpful to know the break point for being able to two hit or one hit the bait aliens
I once got a lute in a bag of lewd loot. It was indeed very confusing 😂
Hey ! I loved the run but we had to top it with a win then it would be golden !

Bull+bull
Hey, big fan of the vids. Has anyone suggested Sick and Golem as a challenge yet?
Already done!

what the point buying baby elephant you dont drop material
Tree materials
