    29:23 Thank you! If a hiker is so scared of being outdoors and need their mini in-reach on their shoulder strap, turned on, then maybe they should stay home? Some years ago, watching a Matterhorn (swiss) climbing video, the guide asked one of his clients, “Do you feel safe here? If not, you shouldn’t be here.” Bam! The only time I’ve worn my in reach, turned on, was a dicy water or snowfield crossing. Otherwise, like you, in my pack somewhere. Great video. Fyi, fellow MLD user, Duomid XL.

      We will do more in the future for sure. The US/Canadian boarder is still closed. We have not made any plans for a trip this year yet. But if things improve perhaps in the fall.

    Ha! I sat under that same tree, eating lunch and the osprey flew right over my head and dove into the lake. Came up empty.

    This video was visual treat to watch. Great shots of those gorgeous mountains. A really well done video dude. Oh yeah, I totally agree with your premise to familiarize oneself with your kit before going out into the woods.

    Seems like a fantastic place! I’d be so tempted to bring a trout fishing setup to alpine lakes like that, despite the weight. Thanks for sharing with us Kyle! Looking forward to the next one.

    Hey Kyle, thanks for another great upload mate 🙂
    Noticed that you are handy with making/modifying camping gear, would suggest retrofitting some sleeves/pockets for light aluminium fold down hoops/rods on your bivvy bag so that it is lifted off your body while you're in it. Have owned both the basic bivvy bags without loops and the ones with hoops and the free standing ones are so much more comfortable. A hoop at your head, hip and toes works best, and recommend a peg loop on each corner too.
    Take it easy!👍

    • @BurleyOutdoors
      @BurleyOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Interesting idea. I have seen bivy sacks with hoops before and that would help give it some more room. My only issue with doing that is it adds more complication and weight to the bivy sack which would make it weight more than my inner mesh net that fits in my Solomid. The Katabatic gear bivy has a string at the top that you can tie to the top of the tent that pulls then net away from your face. If you are cowboy camping I tie it to a hiking pole stuck in the ground. Then pegging out the corners helps some. If I'm in a real rush and lazy I wear my baseball hat to bed and the bill does a good enough job keeping it off my face.

    Beautiful butter fly and really can see a long ways. The lakes most likely have underground springs that may keep the water flowing all winter. Unless the lakes are stocked with trout and don't forget the fishing pole. Thanks for taking us all a long that was great. No wife and dog?

    Nice video. The quality looks quite good. I am wondering if you were using the iPhone 10 or if you were also using a GoPro type devise? A UA-camr I follow, Norwegian Xplorer, has been using the iPhone only and he recommend the 4K 60 frame setting. How about you? What other equipment did you bring? Tripod, etc. I have tons of camera gear, but I think it is going to stay at home more often.

    • @BurleyOutdoors
      @BurleyOutdoors  4 роки тому

      This was shot on an iPhone 10. I did not use a GoPro. I will put up a a video this week about my thoughts on camera gear and backpacking. It was shot at 4K 24. I don’t like 60 FPS because it makes the video too crispy. I guess it would be ok to shoot in 60 and render at 24 and have the ability to slow mo the 60. But not a lot of need to slow mo 60fps on a solo backpacking trip.

    It's always nice to strip down the load out every now and then and bask in simplicity. Great views up there (bottom of CenCal here)!
    I've had several instances where I left my sectioned med\light fishing pole at home and ended up wishing I brought it. I invested in a PenFishingRods. com backpacker ultralight rod like Pharraoh, now I always have a rod and basic fishing kit. Barely weighs anything and takes up minimal room.

      Thanks for the advice Kyle ... Enjoy everything you do ... especially useful advice on preparedness in the wild... what they say ‘failure to prepare is preparing for failure’ !?! Especially going solo .... oh btw if you are on the lookout for an awesome little telescoping rod check out ‘Trout Boy’ maybe marketed under a different name now but so many features for the money .. great piece of kit... stay safe ... Joe can't make fun of the fanny pack.
    I watched a video last night (a tad older) where Tripper had a double fanny pack on.
    Joe would say it's a "dog back pack" But if it looks like a fanny, smells like a fanny it's a fanny pack.
