Great detailed info about the 6th Gen 4Runner that most other YT Influencers haven't mentioned. You all might have convinced me to buy the new 4Runner instead of the new LC 250. Thank you for producing this video!
Why is nobody mentioning the obvious which is the Land Cruiser is retro, the new 4Runner is not at all retro styled. Land Cruiser is is to compete with those who would buy a 4-door Wrangler or Bronco for the retro styling but want Toyota quality and brand image. Whereas, 4Runner is a more youthful spirit targeted vehicle.

first question coming to my mind is: do we still need to chop front body to frame mount for bigger tires?, second - which trims have full 4x4 drive with central differential? 5gen only limited and up models have it....
Its very hard to not be bias as you guys working so closely to Toyota. I would prefer the 6 cylinder (the same 6 cylinder as the tundra) without a turbo and no hybrid over the 4 banger turbo hybrid. The battery eats up too much space.
@@J.Young808 I'd like to think they solved that problem and if they just used the 6 cylinder without the turbo it would distinguish itself from the gx and the land cruiser prado that should ideally have the 6 cylinder with a turbo which it does not. The 4 runner closed the gap between them and the bronco but the bronco still is a step or two above it. Especially since you can build a bronco with a v6.
I'm curious why not go ahead and make the trail hunter and trd pro full time 4 wheel drive with part time 4 low and 4 high? I feel like it could turn off a segment of buyers that want the cool top trims but want to have a full time 4 wheel drive for on the road wet and snowy conditions. Also, why no front locking diff? I'd think to fully complete with bronco and wranglers they'd finally do a true front locker. Overall huge improvements but at least as of now I feel like to get the perfect 4runner I would want to piece them together. Trail hunter but want the sun roof the TRD pro has and the full time 4 wheel drive of the limited. Hopefully there will be options to add.
Is it better to have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Have seen videos but just still grasp it. Had an Audi which was Quarro which which 4 all wheel. I guess if you do mind off reading then may be you do not want an all wheel. Is my understanding correct can you trurn 4 wheel drive.
Looks awesome. I like that it’s sharing a platform with the new LC as well, that’s a good sign that Toyota is confident in it. Gonna be lots of cool interchangeable aftermarket parts coming.
What made me excited about 4Runner is the suv is back in Pickup Passenger Vehicle type...im also waiting for Xterra as well but it is already existing in a form of Navara based suv. Our 2012 Toyota Fortuner resembles the late Hilux based 4Runners in the past with a diesel engine.. things are getting exciting
The rear seats don't fold flat and nobody is talking about it because they're too cowardly to say anything negative about it but that's a pretty big con, especially for overlanding.
Do you think the 9.5" diff is just bc its hybrid max? Maybe that was the only version they showed the hybrid in, rather than being trailhunter-specific. Reason I ask is b/c 465 ftlbs of torque is 64 more than even the 5.7L Sequoia had. So thinking that might be why the big diff...
I'm wondering if ARB is going to offer rear and front bumpers with the red recovery points like the Taco. Center console cool box availability and I do wish they would've figured out a way to have a completely flat rear area with the second row seats folded flat. It's still not perfectly flat like on my '06 Pathfinder. Also, I've yet to see anybody mention that hook that's below the grab handle on the passenger side that looks perfect for takeout bags to hang from. Also interested in color options. I do hope that desert tan color on the Pro will be available on the Trailhunter. It a perfect color for getting dirty.
Loved this technical deep dive into this trim of the 2025 - thank you! Also think a lot less people are going to miss the gutless V6 granny engine then you think.
Will it go 200,000+ miles with that 4 cylinder turbo charged engine. Highly unlikely. Can't spin something like a turbo at 150,000 rpm and expect it to last.
Color changing Foglight.. but no video of using it. Missed Opportunity! You know we all want to see that on and off a few times. Not a fan of the Hybrid stuff.. .going to be a nightmare cost in high mileage.
Not if you look for cheaper options since batteries are growing by leaps and bounds so in 5-10 years when they go bad there will be cheaper options not to mention only one company makes them all and brands them
Fog lights are no different than the Tacoma which already has full media coverage. The prius can be fairly affordable to replace batteries on. ChrisFix did a video on how to replace them. And it seems like Toyota is sticking with that mindset with all their hybrids.
I let the fanbois beta test it for me....i remain skeptical about durability of a small displacement engine with a 6k towing capacity. So, all of lexus and toyota suvs and trucks will all have same engine and transmission? This could really backfire if there are problems.

And as you've said Toyota hybrids are the best in the business. Also there are first gen hybrid batteries that are at 70% after, what, 20+ years now? And that technology came a long way now

nice review. luv the exterior and interior front. cargo area is a bit sad. cool on the built in air, but very sad it faces inward. how are you supposed to use it with drawers/fridge or any other cargo? would have loved mounts with accessory options instead of molded in cup holders for a missing 3rd row. get the raised bed, but unfortunate loss of height. still buying a standard engine offroad model after 3-4 year update that fixes some of the naggy stuff. really like 33's with no cutting!
Do we know how the 2400w inventor will work with the new 4Runner? I seen how it would work with the Tacoma.
