Tween skier here. I’ve been skiing at mount snow since I was four years old. In fact, it’s where I learned to ski. I absolutely love this place. It has a very laid back feel, some very fun terrain parks, great snow making, and I just generally love the restaurants and and area surrounding it. The only thing I REALLY dislike is Long John. I’m sure many other mount snow skiers can relate, but that trail is chaos. There is always some kid who can’t ski/snowboard that’s bombing down the whole trail and crashing into everyone in their path. One of my favorite mountains besides mount snow is Okemo, which I believe is more in northern Vermont. As an intermediate, I very much appreciate the blue squares and forest trails, I also find the little moles kind of fun. Anyways, mount snow gives me an extremely nostalgic and homey feeling because of the fact that I’ve grown up there. I really appreciate the mountain and I think it’s great for other kids at my level. For anyone visiting mount snow/the West Dover area, here are some of my tips. 1. The carinthia lodge has to be the best. I suggest avoiding the main lodge, as, despite the food being high quality, it’s often the most crowded and it’s physically impossible to find a table. The food there is bomb, and there’s a great restaurant upstairs. Overall, I prefer it over the other lodges because it feels more airy and open and is generally more comfortable for me. 2. The bluebird express is a great lift, but the lines are awful. It has a wind cover and I’ve found that a lot of people etch racial slurs and other offensive things onto the bubble/wind cover, so, um, that’s a little bit weird. 3. Like the guy says in the video, it’s very well separated. Blue squares are usually together, same with black diamonds and green circles. The back of the mountain is great for black diamonds and there is a less sketchy lift there now (winter 2023-2024) besides that old two-seater from the 1980’s. It’s hard to end up on a trail that’s too difficult for you. 4. It’s so easy to navigate. It might just be because I’ve skied there my whole life, but I find that they separation is also helpful, especially once you’re familiar with the area. 5. DON’T be afraid to explore. There are so many trails that I’ve found where I’ve had them pretty much all to myself, which are really just from cutoffs that are only accessible from certain parts of the mountain. There are so many exciting and fun forest trails as well. Hope this helps 🫶🫶
I live nearby, your review is excellent.. yet again. . There is a bit more natural snow than you referred to , being a high-elevation base and centrally located in the north-south running snowbelt (more snow than lower elevation base ski areas in Vt. and especially NH) BUT the most important point that you made that really makes a difference in low snow years, or years where it rains in-between (like it did throughout Vt. this season 22-23) is the extensive snowmaking which is able to reach through much of the somewhat compact mountain. You made this point well. This isn't my favorite, but it has been getting better year by year and weekdays are generally not too crowded! There are tree-runs, but its hard to find them... and the trees, unlike out west anyway, are too darn close together.
You guys have gotta hit Jay Peak. As far as snow conditions get in the east nothing else comes close. Plenty of decent challenge terrain as well. Powder days there are fantastic (and actually exist)
Nice video! Ideal and closest for me coming from CT but worth the extra 30-45 min drive further north to Okemo or Killington for better terrain for sure.
I live right next to Mt Snow and Haystack Mt. We are in the southern Vermont snow belt, and snow in winter in this area is not uncommon. For most seasons, snow is plenty.
I noticed you haven't done a video about Stowe Mountain Resort yet, also from Vermont. My friends and I worked there last season and we have plenty of footage from our go pros if you ever need it!
I personally don’t like Mt. Snow bum a beginner and don’t find the little bit of green runs that easy. Mt snow was much nicer I heard for beginners when free runs was carinthua area. 😮
thing is, coming from Eastern Massachusetts, it's easier to go to NH or central sermon ski areas. Boston to Mt Snow is the same as Boston to Killington. And I think we know which is better.
Mt. Snow, Stratton, Okemo & Pico. Killington is WAY TOO overcrowded, but yeah, Killington (theoretically) has the better overall terrain, with the HIGHLY notable exception of Mt. Snow's North Face. And, Pico is MUCH BETTER than Killington ANY DAY of the year, it's just a smaller 🏔️, and is WAY, WAY LESS crowded, but also has VERY noteworthy terrain in its own right. Okemo is also an EXCELLENT alternative to Killington, as is Stratton. Bromley and Magic are also good alternatives, BUT they lack Killington's sheer size, but ALL of these 🏔️'s are WAY less overcrowded than Killington, and offer comparable snow ❄️ conditions.

I've skied Mt. Snow in the past many times. It is convenient. That is its number one attribute. But the name is a misnomer, and I think it was actually named after someone with the last name of Snow, as they get very little natural stuff. Adding insult to injury, skiers can now enjoy having to pay to park on top of the price of the lift ticket? I'm glad I've migrated away from alpine skiing. Over the past 20 years, the prices have skyrocketed.
Mid, huh? I grew up skiing here. My three "home 🏔️'s" were Haystack, Mt. Snow & Stratton. The North Face of Mt. Snow is the MOST challenging terrain south of Killington. NO OTHER 🏔️ in the Southern VT region has more advanced terrain than Mt. Snow's North Face. Growing up on these 🏔️'s allowed me as a USCSA College 🎿 Team Coach to lead my team to USCSA Nationals at 🏔️'s like Mammoth, Aspen & Big Sky. Mid, my a** 😁

Never been there, but the hundred vertical feet taller than Hunter isn't enough incentive to drive the extra hour from the city

I wouldn’t say very little natural stuff. Usually average 125-150. The difference is they get less snow than farther north but get the biggest storms
