SISTEM Archives Ep4: Meet Patty !

Episode 4 of SISTEM archives introduces Patty, a wearable device built for my Biomedical instrumentation class. We were charged with creating a novel wearable device that would measure some physiological signals and use it in a productive way. My group decided to design a device that measured the patellar reflex time! A big part of that design was picking sensors that would give us the information that we needed for a reflex detection algorithm. In the end we chose to use an EMG sensor (for muscle activity), an IMU sensor (for speed and direction) and a solenoid to induce the kick response.
