Such an amazing car! I truly love it. It's a real shame that the typical customer of these AMG Gs is killing the image and reputation of this legendary Mercedes.
I love the whole TFL experience, it's wonderful. They drive an AMG G65 across country, and there's idiots saying they'd rather have a Jeep and other idiots bitching because they didn't drive it off a cliff. The entire thread is surreal‼️😲😲😲
Was going to comment that this is NOT off road, but off pavement or paved roads. But thought let's read of few comments first. Yep, everyone saying the same thing... (of the first few comments I read) Why argue with your viewers about OPINION. You took the vehicle off paved roads... on a gravel/dirt road. Not off road. Just because this is Moab doesn't' make it off road. Should you take a quarter million dollar truck that doesn't belong to you off road? Well of course not. Besides, like Roman stated, it's not equipt with off road tires. I agree with the posters, this is not an off road video nor should it be labeled as such. But what makes it worse is arguing with your views over their opinions. Otherwise it was a great video like most of what you guys publish. All just my opinion though. ;)
Love this!!! This is such an amazing vehicle, whats funny to me, is we just ordered this exact G Wagon yesterday.. AMG and all ;-) Perfect timing for this vid. @Thefastlanecar you are more than welcome to use it for a vid when it comes in haha , you just need to come up to Boston ;-)
+iiXbox Liive you cant get a land cruiser with a twin turbo v12. You cant get a land cruiser with the machine gun door locks. If i wanted that much plastic, i would buy a little times car. The Land Cruiser is a mediocre SUV. One thing these suvs have in common is they are overpriced. Yhe G wagen is hand made so maybe i could justify a higher price, but the land cruisers price is just stupid, $84,000 is nuts for a toyota
+Rhyme905 well the nsx is a newly developed high performance hybrid sports car. The land cruiser is a 8.5 year old SUV with cheap plastic bits that you can find on a 15 year old camry. To put it into comparison, toyota highest seller is the corolla and most of those go for $20k-$25k.
+1990Thunderbolt the $90k lexus cant even hold to par with the G-Wagen. A 12 year old G wagen will cost you $40k while a 12 year old land cruiser or lx will cost the same as a 12 year old escalade
i think it's just the title that everybody's mad about. we all do enjoy that you took the vehicle where you took it. I don't think it's good idea though for owners of these cars to take them off road, not unless they replace the bumpers, wheels+tires, and running boards.
My version of a perfect form for this vehicle would be this with a diesel engine, 250-300 hp, 500-600 lb/ft of torque, and the price reduced. Perhaps, if it was in the 50-60K range, I could see this as the better alternative to ... say, a Wrangler Rubicon 4 door. This extravagant and expensive, though, I'll pass.
Yet another example of a really off-road worthy vehicle that nobody (who owns one, wink wink nudge nudge) ever takes off road because *gasp* they might scratch their $200K+ piece of bling. A Wrangler could beat this off-road, if only because a Merc owner wouldn't chance it. If a Wrangler owner invited a G65 owner to go off-roading, the Wrangler would go bouncing up the trail with ease, and the Merc owner would say "Mmm, I probably shouldn't," and would then go hang out with his Bentayga buddies.
MultiPurposeReviewer well to be fair that's not much different than most owners of newer wranglers. They are expensive these days and everything is scalable, the 45k dollar wrangler is just as expensive if not more expensive to some blue collar middle class guy as the Gwagon is to some millionaire. I've read lots of comments from new JK owners saying they bought an old Yj for off-road so they can keep their JK nice.
this is not off road. any normal rear wheel driven vehicle could manage this terrain with ease. pls do justice with this beast by driving it on a proper rough terrain, sand, snow etc mate. the viewers would enjoy..!
Awesome review! but you are wrong about the G being the ONLY body on frame vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. Every ML from 1998 - 2001 was a body on frame design. I actually take my 2000 ML320 in the dunes as it is 4x4 and is awesome off road!
My dad has one a he loves this thing... Only problem is he's constantly at the gas station lol ...... He let my friends and I Keep it for the weekend and we loved it but 320.00 for gas for only 2 days was insane!!!
when you haven't driven a Mercedes you wouldn't understand the feelings ... Driving a V8 and V6 Engine alone ... i cant even think of driving any other car apart from Mercedes benz...i am getting this biturbo for sure this year
So Land Rover says 7 years/3rd owner before one of their vehicles start getting taken off road. What does Mercedes-Benz think it is with these? And when will they be affordable (i.e. Jeep Wrangler prices) on the used market?
+srkn100 Roman says it in the video. You can't just borrow a $221,000 Mercedes over lunch and tear up Moab with it. At least not if you we ever want to review another Mercedes-Benz.
+Corporal Dixon So going off-road in Moab on a ATV trail should not be considered "off-road" Got it. If and when you get your hands on a brand new G65 please make a proper "off-road" video. Send us the link and we'll be happy to publish it. Seriously!
+The Fast Lane Car loved your MMM series.never a dull Moment. Have you guys considered episodes to cover the colorado trails? It would be a huge help for people ouside co to learn something from videos and explore the trails
+Corporal Dixon Roman Says he didn't see any Civics on the trail. Only Dirt bikes, ATVs, Jeeps, side by sides and 4x4 trucks. But please....feel free to take your Civic on the trail and once again send us the video. We'd love to see it.
That trail isn't challenging at all for the G class. I live in South east Africa and I occasionally drive off road in much worse conditions in my 31 year old Mercedes w123 series which I still drive today. Of course it's not as superior as the G class off road but it is damn tough!
He said the G wagon will last a long time and points to the locking sound and door closing sound - how old school and heavy duty it is. Now is that true? Are these really that reliable and “bullet proof”?
makes great sense to take off road because all pro drivers say its not good on the road. And yes people buy it for status. and at over 200 make the new Bentley SUV look better value.
The vehicle is best built for VIPs and Heads of State, so they can load it up with all the bullet-proof goodies, and still have power to get out of a sticky situation.
Definitely an amazing off-road capable truck. It's first impression is its ugly but the style grows on you and it really does stick out on the street as an expensive luxury suv. But for the price tag, you could buy several fully loaded landcruisers or about 8 jeep wranglers.
KYDashcam Or a lamborghini huracan AND a full extra toyota corolla, so then you would have a top notch weekend AND daily drive cars instead of one rolling box of shit with terrible handling and interior design
There are a couple things to note about the G65 - its actually just a marketing gimmick. - that motor is ancient and only makes 621hp for a very very brief moment in the power band - the G63 V8 is faster to 60 (4.8 vs 5.1) - the G63 V8 is also faster in the quarter (13.3 vs 13.6) - Its also sounds better and is much more economical than the V12 G65 So there are basically only 2 reasons you would by this car over the cheaper G63: 1) you're an idiot 2) you want to tell people you have the V12 This is the important kind of info you need to convey to consumers.
+TheVladooo I was thinking the same thing. In addition to all of that the price will fall so hard after 3 years on this unit the same way the price falls on all 65 AMG models it's not even worth leasing something let alone buying with cash or financing something like this.
Djonkie Bonk Now I disagree with that statement, G Wagons hold their value really well even base G500 from a 2005 in good condition go for $50k. Considering this is a G65 AMG with a V12 it will be worth a lot still in a few years.
+Djonkie Bonk I don't think it will level off at half lol. The G does hold its value but no one will pay $110k for a 10 year old car. look at other V12 benzes, you can get an 8 year old cl65 for like $15000
Sells well in the Middle East and Russia where fuel is cheaper than water (or as in Russia, taxes and accounts are fluid in nature). Think Middle east royalty who want to go off road in sand dunes and where filling up the gas tank is a minor issue. Easy to make bullet proof as the glass is slab sided. usually i wish you guys would go on tougher trails, however a quarter of a million dollar vehicle? I'd be worried to take it over a speed bump, much less anywhere near the dirt. very impressed you did that. As far as the vehicle goes, the ground clearance looks a bit low with that step and side exhaust.
3 locking differentials. Just like the Power Wagon? (For those of you about to jump and say I'm wrong about the Power Wagon, I know. I'm referencing a previous one of their videos)
Even if I had the money I'm not sure if I would own one, I rather have a power wagon. Roman which one would you rather have, or is there some other one you would pick instead?
It goes from 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. I don't know what you perceive to be fast but I think that it pretty quick, especially considering that it is a car which is aerodynamically speaking a wall on four wheels. I think that is faster than a 550i and a Porsche Panamera.
Excellent review. This car is indeed will be the same until my grandsons die lol. I hate the fact this is G65 and has no wood finishing on the steering wheel
Would take the Range Rover over this, it is just a better blend of luxury features, comfort and off road capability. If i could afford the Range Rover SV autobiography which is similarly priced and is way ahead of this in my opinion.
Now that was the real you!!! Lol finally!!! :) :) :). So I've been a bit harsh reviewing your reviews because you never pushed the test vehicles truly. Now that I can see deep down your just as disappointed as we are I feel bad for ya. So as a little pay back I'll call Mercedes and see about getting you an "off the leash" run at this vehicle. later :).
220k... People only buy this BECAUSE it costs so much. It's a status symbol, not a vehicle chosen for it's off road capabilities 99.9% of them are used to commute to work/grocery store A Civic could have done this trail ffs
I don't think i have ever seen Roman this happy before! :D
not even in the hellcat . your right !!
That laugh from Roman whilst doing the acceleration is amazing
it wasn't even pulling hard
+charles onuoha but it is fast for a brick moving through the air
+MrTurkishBacon Fake laugh. He learnt that from Jimmy Fallon.
+charles onuoha Harder to tell on camera.
imagine Kylie Jenner off-road with her g wagon... I don't think so
Such an amazing car!
Wow 13 mpg on the highway, basically a Prius
now that reaction to the 12 cylinders is epic! Love my GL diesel

+dddire straits what's wrong with disagreeing with our viewers?
+The Fast Lane Car lol
+dddire straits Well if it's not ON the road it is technically OFF road, hehe.. ;)
+dddire straits Off-road is going off the road, asphalt, pavement. It's the same thing. If your not on a paved road, your off road.
I guess you've never heard of a gravel road? Seriously ??? You city boys crack me up.
The "acceleration demo" bit was one of the most forced, and least dramatic things I've ever seen. Absolutely zero impression of speed & force.
DrOneOneOne because you were not in the car and he was....
You should get your hands on the Mercedes 6x6, now that monster can take on anything
Love this!!! This is such an amazing vehicle, whats funny to me, is we just ordered this exact G Wagon yesterday.. AMG and all ;-) Perfect timing for this vid. @Thefastlanecar you are more than welcome to use it for a vid when it comes in haha , you just need to come up to Boston ;-)
douche, lol
+Jacob Walls Ya sometime lol..
Good luck on all your off road excursions!!
I think you seem to be nice lol, not a douche ... anyway, I want to get myself the g63 can't get enough of that v8 growl :D
this was a truely great video, much love for a v12
I think this is the most fun you have had on a review.
I'm the 2nd person in the USA to have a g65 :) gotta love them
Plan to take it offroad?
It's fun to watch Roman's unironic joy at 2:42

thank-you for doing a review my favorite car ever
Kyle Maners your favorite car is an overpriced box of shit?
The Russian/Chechen mafia uses these things as taxi's lol
Good review TFL.
I love the Geländewagen because it's insane.
i think it's just the title that everybody's mad about. we all do enjoy that you took the vehicle where you took it. I don't think it's good idea though for owners of these cars to take them off road, not unless they replace the bumpers, wheels+tires, and running boards.

Roman, the starter is not working hard, it just builds up the oil pressure. Just like all the other high performance and racing engines.

In Dubai they fly these off dunes
Great video. Most excited I have seen you.
Oh my god!!!!!!!! Thank you for this video I really loved it 😍
When I pick up my G63, ima take it off road too... can’t wait!
Imagine holding the steering wheel of G-Wagon with a Rolex on😎😎 That's goal of life👍🏻👍🏻
Oh, Mercedes are always good with their V8s and V12s. They always sound amazing.
this is not off road. any normal rear wheel driven vehicle could manage this terrain with ease. pls do justice with this beast by driving it on a proper rough terrain, sand, snow etc mate. the viewers would enjoy..!
Give the old jalopy some bulletproof, tinted windows, and Nathan and Andre have got their Blues Mobile‼️😎😎😎

The man is really happy
Great car! It’s like a Viper - very eye catching and polarizing. If you like it you LOVE it!
I haven't seen anyone get this excited since my wife left me and I was so excited..lol going on 18 yrs single Yeah!!!
My dad has one a he loves this thing... Only problem is he's constantly at the gas station lol ...... He let my friends and I Keep it for the weekend and we loved it but 320.00 for gas for only 2 days was insane!!!
All chrome would look super dope
best episode ever,thx
when you haven't driven a Mercedes you wouldn't understand the feelings ... Driving a V8 and V6 Engine alone ... i cant even think of driving any other car apart from Mercedes benz...i am getting this biturbo for sure this year
That would look amazing with some Toyo Open Country R/Ts, AT-2s or BFG All Terrains
+Freedom Child look up the mercedes g500 4x4
+Vincent Phillips that thing is ridiculous
i thought that the reason there is no awd s65 is that there is too much complication matching the v12 to awd .but here it is !!!!!
I have the same paint on my 2016 c class. Don't scratch it...You need to repaint the whole panel to fix scratches and dings. Looks great though!
So Land Rover says 7 years/3rd owner before one of their vehicles start getting taken off road. What does Mercedes-Benz think it is with these? And when will they be affordable (i.e. Jeep Wrangler prices) on the used market?
Seriously roman, the trail doesnt do justice to its capability. However I still would pick jeep over this one any day
+srkn100 Roman says it in the video. You can't just borrow a $221,000 Mercedes over lunch and tear up Moab with it. At least not if you we ever want to review another Mercedes-Benz.
+Corporal Dixon Thanks for the comment but Roman takes the G65 off-road wheeling. Perhaps you might want to look up the definition of off-road?
+Corporal Dixon So going off-road in Moab on a ATV trail should not be considered "off-road" Got it. If and when you get your hands on a brand new G65 please make a proper "off-road" video. Send us the link and we'll be happy to publish it. Seriously!

He said the G wagon will last a long time and points to the locking sound and door closing sound - how old school and heavy duty it is. Now is that true? Are these really that reliable and “bullet proof”?
That car the v8 version is used by the ruler of Dubai and his sons it's really cool and very beautiful ride :)
an awesome car. Here in the Netherlands we hardly ever see it. But that's very logical at a an insane price of $ 427.400. almost twice the US price.
Sounds quieter than my G550 and the G63 AMG.
Amazing Benz! Great video! Loved it. Thank you!
There are 5 differential locking modes by combining the switches - just read read the manual.
makes great sense to take off road because all pro drivers say its not good on the road. And yes people buy it for status. and at over 200 make the new Bentley SUV look better value.
Love the G class! Specially that one! 😃
The vehicle is best built for VIPs and Heads of State, so they can load it up with all the bullet-proof goodies, and still have power to get out of a sticky situation.

There are a couple things to note about the G65 - its actually just a marketing gimmick.
- that motor is ancient and only makes 621hp for a very very brief moment in the power band
- the G63 V8 is faster to 60 (4.8 vs 5.1)
- the G63 V8 is also faster in the quarter (13.3 vs 13.6)
- Its also sounds better and is much more economical than the V12 G65
So there are basically only 2 reasons you would by this car over the cheaper G63:
1) you're an idiot
2) you want to tell people you have the V12
This is the important kind of info you need to convey to consumers.
+TheVladooo Someone who knows their shit
+TheVladooo I was thinking the same thing. In addition to all of that the price will fall so hard after 3 years on this unit the same way the price falls on all 65 AMG models it's not even worth leasing something let alone buying with cash or financing something like this.

cameron-scott smith The initial value drop will be nasty. It will level off at half of that.
+Djonkie Bonk I don't think it will level off at half lol. The G does hold its value but no one will pay $110k for a 10 year old car. look at other V12 benzes, you can get an 8 year old cl65 for like $15000
Also do a talk on Wrangler Rubicon 4 door vs that G wagon.
I think those side exhaust would burn legs of any rear door passenger
0:31 The sound of central lock shotgun.
The G500 4x4² is propably the best offroad G-Wagon
I don't get why there are so many negative comments
keep up the good work guys
it is a full size luxury suv. i like it.
Coolness loves it
Can't wait for the Renegade with the hellcat...
Love to see them offer it with Mercs twin turbo V8 as would cut weight and maybe less visits to the fuel station.
Get a normal bone stock G-Wagon, modify a bit for off-road use and then actually take it off-road and get it dirty and scratched and you'll have all the respect this truck deserves.
There's a reason why an bought an xterra & 4runner when I could have bought a G-wagon.....I didn't want it as a status symbol.
Roman, old lad, you ought to run the AMG G65 against the Hellcat. The outcome would have me laughing for a week‼️😜😜😜
It's all about the diesel g-wagon, 12V is a gas killer and that g-wagon needs a lift
all he did was go in a straight line on a dirt track through two small puddles. my sisters Honda accord could do the same thing lol. I'd take a 4 runner TRD sport package all day over a g65 for off road capabilities any day. especially in the new sandstorm color. ugh it looks soo bad:)
I have only been in the CLA250. But my neighbor hasn't shoved the pedal down. Lol. Could you guys do a review on that?
Whats the place where you first accelerated to catch the motorcycle? The place looks amazing.
The sad thing is that everyone that owns one will never take it off road.
usually i wish you guys would go on tougher trails, however a quarter of a million dollar vehicle? I'd be worried to take it over a speed bump, much less anywhere near the dirt. very impressed you did that. You snatched the keys. Was the car recalled?
The G wagon its expensive for what it does and has to offer
I just ordered 5 Rubicons after watching this video.
take it up that one hill in the jeep commercial..
3 locking differentials. Just like the Power Wagon?
(For those of you about to jump and say I'm wrong about the Power Wagon, I know. I'm referencing a previous one of their videos)
Would you / could you do a mash up with thing and some thing like the Lexus LX?
Even if I had the money I'm not sure if I would own one, I rather have a power wagon. Roman which one would you rather have, or is there some other one you would pick instead?
A 35 year old off roader with the engine of a Pagani, mad
Guys, let's take this over 200k g wagon off road. It's certainly very affordable for the average ppl.
Nothing like this will ever happen again…
HOpefully you guys get get your hands on a G500 and take it off road, in colorado.
Looks like it's super slow or is it just me? I like how the M3 e92 sounds over this, apples and oranges but sound is sound.
It goes from 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. I don't know what you perceive to be fast but I think that it pretty quick, especially considering that it is a car which is aerodynamically speaking a wall on four wheels. I think that is faster than a 550i and a Porsche Panamera.

amg g waggon / hellcat jeep grand mashup review, make it happen asap
they've done more "hardcore" off-road vids in subarus
Sad thought: there's g wagons out there that have never activated their lockers or will ever go off road.
will this beat a rubicon at off road? obviously in every other aspect it will but im asking only offroad
Would take the Range Rover over this, it is just a better blend of luxury features, comfort and off road capability. If i could afford the Range Rover SV autobiography which is similarly priced and is way ahead of this in my opinion.

v12 is for 6×6 but I cant understand for G 4×4 why is necessery v12
V8 is absolutely enough.
63 has so big amotion!
220k... People only buy this BECAUSE it costs so much.
It's a status symbol, not a vehicle chosen for it's off road capabilities
99.9% of them are used to commute to work/grocery store
A Civic could have done this trail ffs
Even if it was a serious off-road trail, a 620hp v12 and luxury interior are completely pointless.
