To all those having dry eyes Start taking omega 3 fatty acid tablet for one month.. i had recurrent corneal erosion.. it helped me a lot...! Pls give it a try too..
Thank you!! I’m going to do that. I use ointment every single night but doesn’t always work. I feel like it’s the most painful/debilitating thing known to man. Thank you for that tip!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@akshtreyelogy9182 I really like Systane ointment, better than other brands. But I agree with you about the healing from the inside. I should’ve started w/ omega 3’s a long time ago! 😊
@@akshtreyelogy9182 I had my first experience, it was in BOTH eyes the first time (but not since thankfully) in 2015. It’s usually my right eye but sometimes the left. Being diligent about ointment has lessened the frequency a lot & I’m sure when I start w/ the omegas it will help even more. What is your experience with RCE?
@@thisgirlwhodis4495 I do. Muro ointment at night. And a lubricant during the day. To be honest, I can’t tell any difference with the muro. What I have found over the last three months, is that wearing contacts all of the time Has been the only consistent relief I get. My cornea specialist told me not to do that. And to never sleep in them. But it’s just too painful not to.
@@scouserjulie it really is. I told someone else in this thread that the best thing I’ve found is wearing contacts all of the time. It’s the only consistent relief I’ve found.
@@thisgirlwhodis4495 something else that seemed to help a lot is wearing a sleep mask. I sleep with a fan on so there is always air blowing across my face and it dried my eyes out. Sleep mask has helped the way my eyes feel in the morning tremendously! Hope anything I’ve said helps you because I know all too well the pain you are dealing with.
According to what my corneal specialist told me that most people aren’t stuck with it for life. I have RCE and Terrians Marginal Degeneration. Basically I have ridges on the edge of my corneas and it’s so fucking awful. I have a double whammy.
@@TCayFF for me, relief came when my specialist told me I could wear daily contacts. That was a game changer. But I have Terriens Marginal too which is constantly irritated.
@@catholiccatheter3285 yes with the rce my doc put in a contact lense and it gave me relief and allowed my eye to heal. But it came back a fee months later.
It sucks. Ive only started having it this past few years. It comes and goes and is only in my right eye. The duration between each episode is a few weeks to a few months. It lasts from 2-4 days. Sometimes it starts in the morning and will be cleared up a few hours later. Othertimes it will last upto 4 days. Ill be sleeping and upon waking up and opening my eyes will burn, itch, water and have crusties my right eye feels like i have a rock in it. It waters all day and is swollen and appears smaller than my left eye. I cannot wear eye makeup. And when i dont have this happen my right eye will tear out of nowhere especially if i have makeup on and am on my way to an event. The first time this occured i went to the eye doctor and it went away just before i went and he didnt see anything wrong with my eye it was very frustrating. When it happened again i rushed over and he saw a scratch on my cornea. He put a contact lense in that eye to stop my eyelid from irritating the cornea when i blink. And prescribed mura 128. Ive used eye drops too prior to the contact lense being used. My question is 1. What causes this to happen to my eye. 2. Why only my right eye. 3. Why does it come and go. Also i remember my eyes being crusty and watery upon awakening months prior to the diagnosis of recurrent cornea erosion.
I have RCE but I want to get Femto LASIK to get rid of my glasses. I consulted my doctor and he tested my cornea and it turned out that I’m a good candidate but I’m soooo worried. I’m afraid it could worsen my RCE. What do you think?
I have RCE and my doctor said no way to LASIK. She said they inform you about the risks of dry eyes and with RCE you already have very dry eyes. I wouldn't risk it.
@@thisgirlwhodis4495 Thanks for letting me know! Do you, by any chance, know anything about Phototherapeutic Keratectomy (PTK)? I was told that it could cure RCE and correct vision at the same time which is honestly too good to be true, haha!
@@SaraDeExplora I haven't heard of that. I did a google search on it. There's a few research articles but I live in the UK and there's nothing about it here in terms of the NHS website. I've only had RCE since December so still getting used to the daily drops and nighttime ointment
PTK is the method with the most success rate so far (I guess almost 80%). There are good hospitals in India that do this. Places like Hyderabad, Madurai, Coimbatore and Delhi have such hospitals with world class doctors.
Sorry to hear this! There are surgical options if topical treatments aren’t effective. Ask your eye doctor for a custom recommendation for your condition.

I’ve been dealing with this for about 8 years. It’s pretty constant. It’s awful. I’ve had an infection on my left eye for going on two months now.
Ive had it since December. My doctor prescribed me drops and ointment to use daily and nightly. do you not have these to help you out?

So I’m basically stuck with RCE for life?
It really depends. I would talk to your eye doctor about all of your options (including stromal puncture).

I deal with this too and it’s always my right eye. Happens once a month or two months, even if I use the Muro 128.
I've got blurry vision also
Unfortunately, this is a symptom of RCEs
Could it be possible to get rce from an eye surgery?
Possible but unlikely.
Dani, yes it is, it happened to me after getting PRK
Like theonenonly122 said below, I also ended up with RCE after having PRK.
