I was gonna write the same exact thing. This could have been so much more if they’d had left his voice natural. If you haven’t seen it yet he has a video of him singing never love again from a star is born. It’s just him no added stuff. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.
I think they auto tuned it because his voice has a natural rasp to it. It sounds kind of gravely. And though that is kind of a signature part of his voice (that I personally really love) it might not have mixed as smoothly with Anne Marie’s as they previously thought. Not defending the auto tune, just giving some perspective as to why it might have been used. I wish they hadn’t toned it down either. They both have such lovely voices.

Sorry but I prefer the original. It was magical. Zendaya's voice and Zac 's voice just blended so well. It was more emotional, felt it in their singing. No hate, just my opinion.

@@drpotatocat492 Listen to around 0:35 when he sings "REwrite the stars". It sounds a little robotic on that "RE". Same thing happens when he sings "KEEP us apart", and "you are the ONE I was MEANT to find." Those are some of the more obvious places.

I'm going to be honest...This track feels the weakest in the Reimagined album, which is such a shame, seeing that this song was one of the most popular (and most covered). I feel as if they could have done more and, like the other commentors stated, toned down the auto-tune (or omit altogether). James and Anne-Marie are great vocalists, and sound absolutely lovely together. This version isn't bad, it just feels a little lack luster compared to the other tracks.

U may not like this song but it's REIMAGINED THAT MEANS ITS MEANT TO BE DIFFERENT WITH DIFFERENT STYLES. everyone needs to stop comparing to the original. Even I think the original is the smallest bit better but James Arthur and Anne Marie have done an amazing job on this and it's sounds so good!
I agree with you that reimagined means that it's meant to be different from the original with different styles but I think that that is one of the problems with this song.
I think they try to hard to be SIMILAR to the original instead of letting these two singers add their twist with their voices. I saw their performance live with this song and it sounded great but this ridiculous amount of autotune in james arthur's voice it just sounds weird and robotic like. It just makes it seem like they were trying to change the artist's voices to sound more like the original.....and failing miserably in the process. For example in this album we had Zac Brown Band's version of "from now on" that actually sounded different and with their style on it, which is what a reimagined should be.
I'm sure that all these artists put an amazing amount of effort into this album but it's kinda sad, for the folks that never heard them, this being their first impression of them.
Finally, everyone has different tastes, some will like this some won't but from a technical point of view this song doesn't show these artists' true talent.

I don't know, Pink and Kelly Clarkson did pretty great. I also loved Panic! At the Disco's rendition and can't wait to hear Safe Barellies sing Tightrope. But that's just my opinion.

Honestly this is a good song... but this song could be in a league of its own in comparison to the rest of the album if the producers left their voices alone and didn’t plaster their voices with auto tune. They don’t need it. Neither of them. I can hear their vocals through the auto tune and it’s all so unnecessary.
For such a big song there’s obviously a reason why you picked these two specific artists to do the song justice on the Reimagined album (Good choice) but obviously you’ve forgotten why if you want to change what makes their voices so individual

It’s not auto tune at all, people. That’s how good their voices are, the problem is the atmosphere brought with this new arrangement seems a little bit not suitable, it sounds like a happy tune and happy rhythm while actually the song is about struggling with feelings which perfectly sounded in Zendaya and Zach version. It’s just doesn’t make the pain real with this kind of rhythm.

People could clearly hear the autotune. Vibrations don’t work like that when it has a computer sound vibrating in them. A lot of it has autotune in it, you can hear the difference in this one than the others.

Don't understand this pairing. It's originally a song about interracial relationships. Now it feels white washed. Yes this song has Universal appeal but this version was still made for the Greatest Showman soundtrack. Yeah yeah lots of relationships may be defying the stars Romeo and Juliet style but the meaning of love wins in the face of discrimination is lost here. I'm not saying that it's not a good cover but they probably could've changed it to 2 male or female singers if they didn't want represent race - LGBTQ anthem instead

I don't even notice the auto tune probably because it isn't as bad as how much auto tune Disney used on Emma Stone in the Beauty and the beast live action movie, it was like Emma Stone wasn't even singing as if a computer that sounded like her was.

This song is by far my favorite in the greatest showman, the passion in Zack and Zendaya's voice. The love for each other on/kinda off screen blended them beautifully. I looked forward to this so much and they ruined the song. They lost the meaning, and were more focused on publicity and what sounds "cool."
