Kurapika power is like a contract. The contract is for his life, so that's what makes it stronger. He can only use the Chain Jail (golden looking chains) on the phantom troupe because that's another contract he set to make it stronger

Nen abilities become stronger the more restrictions you put on their use.
For Kurapika, he restricted chain jail to spiders only & if he tries to use it on any non spider, he'll die.
Having such specific & harsh rules make those abilities extremely powerful vs the troupe
Did Netero put any restrictions to his massive power? or the "Restriction" was that intense and long 10 years of training?
It will be explained in more detail in the next couple of episodes.

This gained him a weird power that only he can use, but for this he had to attain a very specefic emotional and physical state, which is not possible via conditions. This might be next way to level up in hxh, however only netero is shown to achieve this feat

Nen powers work off restrictions. The more restrictive the covenant the stronger the power so he covenanted that he would die if he used it on anyone other than a spider which is why its so strong.
Also, these restrictions and contracts are just shortcuts. Kurapika could have reach the same level of nen for his chain jail through years of training and experience even if he can only master 60% proficiency of enhancers. But since he needs power up asap, he chose to make the contract.

There are members of the Phantom Troup, that we haven't seen their full power yet. So, not tryna be rude, but Rob, please listen to the others when they're saying that you should be worried for him. The Phantom Troup all together is hella strong, so he can't take them all at once. He can probably take one of them at a time, depending on which member it is.

The best thing about HxH is that they are able to make the main character stronger without sacrificing other characters like how Naruto gets stronger and all of a sudden Saskue is useless and can’t beat anyone anymore or Fairytale Natsu levels up and again, all of a sudden Grey can’t beat anyone. That shit is annoying and bad writing. Here as Gon levels up, so do the people around him and they actually still have a role in the story and it’s not to just make Gon look good. ⭐️-_-💧

The whole Chain Jail ability kurapika used is only so strong because he made a promise to use solely on Phantom Troupe members otherwise he'd die. Thats why his Nen chains are so strong they can keep a Master Enhancer like Uvogin in check. Without a strong intent his chains would just be normal chains.

To explain a little about Kurapika's abilities atm (Not really a spoiler, just an explanation).
In Hunter x Hunter, Nen abilities have restrictions. This means, that the more restrictive/risky an ability is to use, the more powerful it can become. The ceiling of that power depends on each individual, Kurapika being from the Kurata clan is key in this, which will be explained in the show. So Kurapika's most powerful Nen ability, can only work on Phantom Troupe Members, and if he uses it on anyone else, his own ability will destroy his heart. This sort of risk of self-sacrifice, plus restricting his ability to only a couple people in the world makes it extremely powerful... but again, very risky/limited.
Took me my 3rd watch through to really grasp this concept, but it makes Nen so much cooler.

The reason the chains would be tough to break out even if Uvogin wasn't weakened, is because of the "restriction" that is placed on Kurapika's "Chain Jail" technique.
Restrictions/or covenants (a pledge or an agreement towards something) makes a nen ability triple times the strength it normally has. ^^
"Chain Jail" can only be used on a troupe member, and there's a chain attached to Kurapika's heart 24/7 in the case he uses it on someone other than a troupe member, he'll die right there.
Phantom Troupe is like an antagonist but at the same time protagonist yah know. I love them so much! Ya'll not gonna be ready when they show what they are really capable of. I love Kurapika but man, he won't stand a chance yet especially to my boy Chrollo.

Rob really gonna need a change of shorts after the next couple episodes. There a balance of power with nen. The stronger your resolve and the tougher the circumstances you put on yourself the strong your power can be. Everything comes with a price. Nen can be trained traditionally as well like Gon.
Kurapika made a contract with himself that he will only use Chain Jail on PT members to basically strenghten the technique and if he breaks this rule he set he will die on the spot by his own chain

Rob needs to get that Kurapika's Nen is TAILORED for the Phantom Troupe. That is why he's so strong against them, his restrictions are so extreme that his Nen becomes extremely strong against them. That's why while still being new to Nen he's so damn strong against them.
No matter the scenario, he is their worst possible match-up but if Kurapika fights anyone else, he'll be much much weaker.

In Hunter x Hunter power always comes at a price. The strength of your emotions don’t mean anything unless you are prepared to give something up. Kurapika puts his life on the line so his chain prison is extremely powerful against the phantom trope but can never be used against a person outside the trope.

The chain user kurapikas main power is the troupe not knowing how his chain works. Now that they know it’s an easy work specially for chrollo and some of the members. The chain user that’s the beauty of hxh, you would never know who would win in a fight cause the anime is not about power levels it’s about the circumstances of the fights. At least that’s what I took from the anime. Maybe in some circumstances kura can pull something crazy like beating nobunaga or someone strong in the troupe but for now with what we have it’s hard to expect anything even thou I know kurapika is really smart.
