hi @@justlucky4935 don't know if it's too late, but i had the same problem and solved it changing from 5.1 speakers to cuadraphonic in my realtek audio console. Feel free to ask if you still have the issue
I found a fix for windows 11, I was playing apex legends and monster hunter world then couldn’t hear the dialogue voices ,I tried these tips and didn’t work. And here’s how it worked again: Go to settings>sound>(in the advanced section)more sound settings>select your playback device(speakers or headphone)> properties>spatial sound>(the option was preselected as off) change it to windows sonic for headphones> apply That’s how it fixed for me....hope it helps
This worked for me:- Win 10 - bottom R/H corner right click on speaker icon - click on "Open sound settings" On sound output- click "Device Properties" under Spatial Sound - select "windows Sonic for Headphones" This worked for me on video playback.
hey thanks man, his video wouldnt work for me because the config was greyed out and besides that, it was already on stereo, but what you did worked for me
a life saver, this method worked for Just Cause 4 as of today.Rico's and others speech were not audible although other sounds are ok, and changing 7.1 shit to stere fixed the issue.thanks man.
Bro, thank you so much. This is such an old video but it still fixed my problem with modern warfare. I couldn't understand how nobody else had the problem.
Thank you very much. That little piece of information worked perfectly. For ages now I have tried different video players thinking it was the fault of the player, never knowing it was the settings in my 5.1 system.

Wow... I knew it! there is just a need to tweak somethin on my sound settings, I just don't know where exactly to go. I'm playing Batman Arkham and there is some dialogues of the characters that I can't hear and applying your tips it worked! Thanks for this video Dude!
Didn't work on mine (Windows 11). After configuring speakers, Stereo is the only option, no 5.1 or 7.1 surround. I selected Stereo and restarted the game. Still didn't work. Do you have any advice sir?
Great idea thanks, will give this a shot. I found my old Windows Vista Home Premium HP PC and the Sims 1 PC disk! The install worked perfectly! But then when I played, only the music in the game works, you can't hear the sims talk or any sound fx. Will give this a try thanks again.
This works, but it's hardly a fix, as the games have the surround sound option, this completely eliminates surround sound within the game... *Edit - I found out, that my system was set to "3D" in "Stereo" an option on the console itself, bypassing surround sound entirely. Switching that off, surround sound now works, and I get voices back in games :).
since i just fixed my audio issues with wolfenstein: the old blood, this is what helped: go to sounds->playback, select your device->properties->advanced my format was set to "16bit, 44100hz" for some reason, changing it to "24bit 48000bit" not only fixed my sound issues with wolfenstein, but also noteably increased overall audio quality :D good luck!
Thank you! Problem fixed! I got a new speaker set up and knew that it was something that I had changed thinking it would improve audio, and I just didn't know which particular setting was the issue. Now I can hear my character without having to drag the camera to the left or right. It makes sense now that I think about it 🤔 but anyway, Thanks again! ☺

If nothing works activate GPU scaling in the graphics card control panel. Works if you pass sound with HDMI, at least in kotor 1&2. Make sure to set sound quality to 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD quality) in windows sound setup.
Control panel, hardware & sound, manage audio devices, right click on speakers, properties, enhancements, un-check voice cancellation. No idea why this setting is default on in 5.1 mode but this is fix for no voice, voice only coming from sides. Your welcome ;)
dude i have played the entire halo infinite on legendary only to miss the secret ending dialogue due to this.... thanks for the vid just wish i found it sooner
If you own a logitech headset then choose the 7.1 surround sound, press next then check all of the options and press next. From there do the same, just check all of the options and press next and done. It should work now.
Not that you haven't helped people so kudos for that but I would try to make it clear that all this does is disable Surround Sound. Which is fine if someone does not have a Surround Sound setup. If they have a surround sound setup then they need to first troubleshoot their setup, assuming the windows Speaker Configuration test correctly outputs sound to each speaker channel then the issue is likely with the game. My Surround sound works perfectly in all games, I just recently installed Monster hunter World, poor console to PC port with poor Direct Sound support. Your workaround would cure the voice issue but disable Surround sound in all games, people should be aware of that if they actually have a surround sound setup.
