    Nice! I am also planning to casts out 2 oz kastmasters as a replacement for daiwa sp minnows. I am casting from the surf and I feel like the sp minnows are lacking distance. I find the kastmasters to be more versatile and launches out 100+ yards into the deep blue.

      I hope the area doesn't have rocks or reef for the trebles to snag. If so you can-
      1) Keep your rod tip high to "surf" the Kastmaster back in. Also a faster retrieval rate might help.
      2) Change out the treble for a single. There are hook styles out the with the point's curvature facing inwards towards the hook's eye.

      I have in the past before i started making vids. Jigging at the FAD's brought in aku, shibi & the occasional spearfish. Of the harbors always papio to a'wa. Areas of sand/hard reef papio, o'io & lai. Just one of my many projects that i wanted to share what has worked for me in the past. Thanks for watching Kaze:)

    LOL! Chris you should’ve attached the split ring to the front of the Kastmaster before you attached the treble hook, it was very hard to watch you trying to attach the ring w/o poking yourself LOL! I could just feel the treble hook poking at my fingers while watching you! I like watching your Chnl. You’re very informative! Keep it up! Eddie.

      Learn by doing. Lol! I rarely work jigs but slowly getting back to jigging from the shoreline. I like assist hooks more then the trebs. I normally "pinch" the bards of my trebs so less damage to my C&R fish & less damage to myself if i get stuck. For awhile the Bloodlust dual jigs from Ewa Beach Buy & Sell were my favorites. But recently found the 2oz Ahi brand jigs at P.O.P. in town on sale less then $5ea (has 1 assist hook compared to the 2 of the Bloodlust jigs). Now i have equal numbers of both.

    • @ScubaChris
      @ScubaChris 7 років тому

      Yes, i'm familiar with the fg knot. Still need to have a swivel effect which the Invisaswivel provides. Now the fish sees only the lure, no attached swivel to connect the mainline to the leader.

    • @ScubaChris

      Persistence. My friend Russel only uses Kastmasters there. Smart. Because of low water visibility the fish won't see color, but the flashes as the lure turns to the vibration it generates will attract them. He's pulled out Uluas and the prized Golden Trevally there using small Kastmasters.

    Difficult to watch you struggle. Additionally, you should ALWAYS put on the top of lure hardware first before attaching the hook. It helps to minimize hooking yourself while rigging up.

      Yeah, in this video i changed my style so it could flow. I normally put the split rings on first before the hook. But if you watch it i'm pulling the line trying to tighten the knot while holding the lure w/the treble on. Normally the hook should be last. But trying to follow my storyboard by narrating what i'm doing. If i relaxed my grip all 3 barbs would've reminded me. Really hate working with trebles.

      A good sized Jack could bend the pinched eye back out due to the fighting force a Trevally can put out. The eye is already weaken by pinching the hook's eye closed in a Siwash if it's a Trokar or other. But thanks! If it was for average game fare it'll work.

    WHY ???

    • @ScubaChris
      @ScubaChris 5 місяців тому +2

      I've caught more fish & had more strikes on certain mods over the years then others. I've also found gold will out catch silver hands down all the time. But that may be due to locations more & what the predators feed more upon. Also certain sizes do better than others, again depends on your location.
