This song is so difficult. She did quite good. but there's people in the comments saying she is better than Beyonce, and that she is a real musician because she can play instruments and so on.
Do you even know the voice is considered an instrument? In music colledges the voice is studied as any other instrument. And a lot of people lavel it as the hardest instrument to play (I'm not saying I agree).
Yeah but then imagine playing the hardest instrument while playing another instrument. What tori kelly does is harder yet she still manages to be as good possibly better than Beyoncé

I remember when this amazing song first came out, everyone was slightly intimidated by beyonce because she went up so much keys, such amazing talent. But I have to say there is no better match for this song then tori, she can go up in keys successfully, not saying she's better than beyonce but she Smashed this song!
Because she is a coloratura soprano, technically talking she has even more ease than Beyoncé in those high notes but at the same time she has not worked hard enough like Beyoncé to reach that level
She is a light lyric soprano, not a coloratura, and yes, there was ease until she started to get to the key changes at the end. You can hear the tension. I like Tori, but how Beyonce as a mezzo soprano is able to belt whole sentences in the 5th octave throughout 4 key changes with he same amount of power and resonance is simply amazing. She definitely didn't have more ease than Beyonce...Bey's voice was full and vibrant throughout the entire song. Tori, even though she's a soprano she lowered the key to be able to sing it. You can tell tori died down at the end, and there was little to no resonance. Sopranos should bloom in resonance in the 5th octave. That goes to show you how simply amazing Beyonce's vocal technique is to be able to maintain so much power so high up the scale. Tori lacks power..her voice is too soft and light for this song. She was okay though.

Sorry but Tori is definitely Coloratura, her agility in riffing is incredible and not forced as Christina Aguilera (just for example).
She is a good vocalist but she is in the game since one year or two while Beyoncé have been a vocal monster for almost 20 years.
+Zenith Zaafir She is not a coloratura soprano. I agree she is great at basic fioritura and melisma, that is not the only aspect of a coloratura voice. She doesn't demonstrate a great use of advance dynamics, she doesn't do intricate register transitions, let's talk about staccato runs...show me her doing that? Coloraturas must have great vocal stamina, and just by how fatigued she sounded at the end of this song further proves she's not a coloratura. Her runs are fast, basic chromatic scales. She doesn't have difficult passagios...for the most part her runs are pentatonic in nature. Now Mariah Carey...that's an example of a coloratura soprano. Tori is a light lyric.
Based on your theory of what a coloratura is, everyone who are good at doing riff and runs that are unforced are deemed coloraturas. It's more to it than that. She doesn't even display ornamentation. Coloratura has the word "color" in it by the way. She doesn't even play with texture. She is a great singer though, just not a coloratura.
