haha great take Bryce! This provides clarity to how you really feel about me. Thanks for being honest!
Loved the vid :) And as always, loved sharing trail time with you! I'll have to come to the midwest to learn what flat really means I guess...
Another sciatica brother here. Wracked my back at 28 reaching into car trunk for a test instrument manual, spent two weeks flat on my back using as few drugs as possible. Ended up at a sports therapist PT and got it handled through exercises. Messed up again about 10 years later, spent 6 months standing up except for sleeping and lost the feeling in most of my left foot. I'm 70 now, still do my exercises and still have two tingling toes on my left foot. I understand the stabbing pain and the depression, walking was the only thing that made me feel better. Please see a really good doctor, avoid surgery if possible, do the exercises regularly, keep ahead of trouble curve and you'll do great! (I did 50 miles in 48 hours on the PCT a couple of summers ago entirely pain free, planning a couple of week-long trips this year. You can beat this sciatica and hit old age healthy.)
Great video, dude! It’s so fun seeing everyone’s perspectives on this trip. Inspiring how you dealt with that level of pain. Hope you are healing up well.
Just “found” you via the OV outing with the UA-camrs, specifically Eric Hanson, sorry. I so appreciate your honesty through this hike. As an old lady hiker, I have slogged along without saying anything…it is Type 2-3 fun and I never tell either. I never regret going either. I hope your injury has been resolved!
Bryce! I feel you brother. In 2021 I hiked a 600 mile thruhike of the GDT and in 22’ I ran 3 ultra marathons - was in the shape of my life. 2023 I had 3 back surgeries due to herniated discs forcing me on the sidelines. 2024 is a super slow recovery but I’m nowhere near where i want to be. One day at a time pal. 🙏🏼
You can’t overdose on compassion 😊
Hiking through the pain is brutal! Very cool video format on this one!
You & sintax are the only non camping produce infomercial backpackers. Good job keep it up.
Great get together. I was wondering why everyone had the same backpack.
Love the way you put the video together. Had me laughing a lot and wondering if you were ever going to tell everyone you were hurting. Great job on dealing with the pain.
Cool video Bryce 👊🏻
Oh man, I was laughing out loud alone at my computer when you said, "There's a great view only a half mile away. We're all feelin' great," in that grandpa voice. I always feel a bit like a fool when I do that. So thanks for that. Great video 😄
Okay, also laughed out loud at the "Maybe this guy" arrow pointing at Tayson as he strutted up the sandstone 😂
Love the personality and the humor you bring to the community 🤙🏽 great content. God Speed on your recovery, wishing you the best.
Ah, I battled that last summer. Was soooo depressed. Could not even walk for awhile, then graduated to hiking sticks and shopping carts. Good now, but with intense PT always. Once I backpacked with 4 broken ribs. Didn’t know that on trail. Intense pain. Cowboy camped because I could not set up a tent. Great video.
I herniated a disc while backpacking in West Virginia. Slowest and most painful hike out of my life, unfortunately needed surgery to fix it. It’s been three years now, and I’m crushing mountains all over the country! Hope your back to 100% soon!
You have been dealing with that back pain for some time now, can totally relate. I hate these young guys that all their body parts work well and pain free :) . Was this as hard as the Enchantments? Looks like a good time regardless Bryce. I mean, what a crew!
Amazing group of people doing what they love! Love it, thanks for sharing with us.
This looked like an epic trip! Very cool collection of hiking personalities.
Back pain is the great equalizer it is soooooo humbling!!!!!!!!!!! props to you brother for motoring through!!!!!!!
I was waiting for this one to drop. A hell of a job pusing through the discomfort (to put it lightly). Glad you still had a good experience with the others...whoever they are.
Bryce brother u have to be my fav youtuber when it comes to backpacking, ur hilarious even tho miss REI didn't know u , we the millions and millions love u...lol. also I love Elina who I could watch and listen for hours are the 2 best.....every one else falls into the Boujie category...lol
I want to know what cave Miranda crawled out of before this trip. How did she not know of Bryce Newbold ? Love the channel buddy!
8:00 in, sick video so far man. Really well done. 👍🏻
Killer camera work and editing as usual Bryce!
Bryce I blew out a disc too a while back. This helped. I bought a used walker at a thrift store. I suspend myself with my arms and let my body hang. The one I have is heavy duty and has front wheels which surprisingly doesn’t affects stability. Nice that I can fold and put away when I am done exercising.
Hugs to you and feel better and stronger soon. I’ve had sciatic spasms that put me flat on my back so I appreciate how much mental effort it took for you to make it through. Amazing!
Great video, I can't believe Miranda has never heard of you! I have heard of nearly everyone in this video as I spend more time watching this content than actually backpacking.
Have you tried a cork/lacross ball on your piriformis muscle? That seems to relieve a little siatica pain for me. Doing exercises like RDLs have helped strengthen my posterior chain which seems to reduce the flare ups. The flare ups seems to arise, in my case, from poor posture and form when reaching and bending over for things. Anyways, I'm no doctor but thought I'd share what I noticed about similar pain I experience. Impressed you kept it to yourself as I find myself whining in those moments!
Looks like a lot of fun and a great collab! Glad the pain subsided, I hope you're feeling better!
Great interviews! Fun group of great UA-camrs!
Looks so funny having all the same backpacks, like a scout group or something. 😎
Welcome to Utah flat! Ha! Nice dude, hope your back is better.
That sucks on the pain. You did an amazing job pushing through on day 1. Hope it’s back to normal and not hurting.
I have sciatica too but mine is caused by the piriformis muscle. Going uphill for me and carrying weight is a hige trigger for it, which is not conducive with my love of backpacking. I am surprised you could still walk. Its so painful!!
Utah flat ... sounds like something I need to add to my list! Fun video 😀
I had that issue and after 20 years I finally got it fused. I was out of action for a few months but now I feel great. I cannot believe I waited so long to get it done.
Awesome video Bryce! Quality content per usual. If you’re ever in southeastern Ohio you should check out the Zaleski Backpack loop. I’ve hiked and camped there multiple times.
What security camera would you use to monitor your tent so id anybody tries to steal anything you've got them on camera?
Great video! And so sorry to hear you’re a fellow sciatica sufferer. I’m still not backpacking and it’s taken several months to get to a 4 mile walk without pain. I’m sure you’ve heard it all, but if not, maybe try some of Brian Carrol’s and Stu McGills videos. The Back Mechanic by McGill changed everything for me. Everyone is different though and I hope you find a solution to hike pain free again! I will admit seeing you bending over in the video hurt me a lot. Flexion is no bueno for a lot of us. Good luck and thanks for the vid!
Needed your review on the quilt, I’m sorta in your same/similar “weather zone.” I need lightweight/warmth, I’m a cold sleeper that wants “snuggle” comfort…just not mummy bag “strangle.” 🤷♀️
And Zenbivy is so out of my “ballpark.”
I loved this!! (Except the fact you were in pain of course) I hope you're able to make more content like this!
Ouch! I can relate Bryce. I'm glad it got better on day 2. Sciatica is no fun at all. Is there a type 4 fun? That would be sciatica.
What an amazing group of people to hike with tho!
Cool trip. Happy I don’t carry camera gear. Back pain is no joke. What did you think of your gear, including clothing?
You're friends with the schill bros, where the hell are they at? You all need to do another trio!
So glad to see your perspective. Glad your pain got better! Also…love Miranda, but I knew your channel first! Lol
Dr. Desiato said. put your hands on your sides and lean back slowly, as that puts the bones and nerves back in place... Do no other stretching!!! it takes a few days to heal naturally.
This trip is like a setup for a thriller movie
... Good to know at least you mentioned your issue with another hiker just in case a serious lockup occurred ... Also not a fan of hiking rock faces ,, double trouble if a rain moves in .... But fortunately all ended well ... Great group of hikers .... I'm sure they would have carried you out ....... Maybe ..
Fantastic hike Bryce! Hope you have a full recovery.
Well done to manage the pain with humor! Great fun (despite the suffering) 😉
I blew out my back in the Navy back in 1979, and I finally had the surgery to correct it last year. Mine was the sciatic nerve in my left leg.
I'm glad outdoor vitals supplied the equipment cause the only thing I could afford from them was the Free pillow they gave out ..lol ( just paid shipping)
Weird but I don't even backpack and I recognized quite a few of those youtubers :)
Boo, sciatica. I’m still recovering from sciatica on my right side as well and it’s rough so I feel ya. Lots of massage, foam rolling, stretchy, but still there.
Have you tried acupuncture? Its helped me. Also yoga and easy stretching has helped. Speedy recovery
I love your videos! But sad about your pain :( But love your videos!
Bulging disk bro here. Hoping you feel better. Pain that is constant can just wear on us like nothing else.
glad your back is feeling better!
I hope your back healed quickly.
I've had that sciatic nerve pinch now going on for four days now ((probably 30 years when i lift something or bend the wrong way)). it usually ends by day four or five. Probably hereditary. All of Our Family Members deal with it. Yours' might be more severe though.
You reached 50k congrats!
Did Justin show everyone how to use a bidet after he found the scat?
Dude - we thought you vanished w/the Schill Brothers....!
Outdoor Avengers assemble!
Had Sciatica Nerve pain wanted to die. Oxycodone saved me. Hey Bryce where are the Schill brothers, they fall off youtube. ?
I know what can help you...a tennis ball. Really just sit on it. My hip gets tight and I've been doing that for many years. Hope you try it. ❤ thanks 😊
GWS , loved this video
dude with that "she gone" you must watch gas station encounters?
Really? I thought that it was the woman who does all of the builds with her husband and actually now I think herself. Isn't it like girl outdoors or something? That's how she end her video by saying "she gone."
Hey, why wasn't Huck on this trip? Oh Six Moons? Got it. Hilarious bit about the cameraman 🤣 That's why we love ya! Always stay grounded. There's a reason why we kid the other YTubers.
Don't go to a Chiro to get your disc herniation looked at. There's a surgeon called Dr. Deuk here on UA-cam. At least watch his testimonials and figure out your next step. I have multiple disc issues and I feel your pain (literally). Btw, people as young as 20 have this problem. Sounds like SI joint is pinching something. Anyway, hope you're on the mend.
Try to trip him. In a nice way. I'm using that from now on.
I can't believe Miranda never heard of you! Left coast elites. #cle
You got to meet sintax?!
I would have fanboy’d over Sintax too but did he get pissed over the Sara comment?
@basicbig lol I bet he took it in stride. All those backpackers have a pretty good sense of humor at least in their videos.
I camped with Bryce Newbold a couple of times. He's a super cool guy. Maybe someday I'll get to meet Sintax. I've been trying to get him up to Northern Michigan.
Gabapentin. Non-opioid, non-addictive.
Very good Bryce! I remember when my channel had more subs than yours. 🤣
Sorry about the pain.
Great stuff!
Did Dixie not get a invite
Why nobody called Kraig Adams? ))
The reason I asked about Dixie , is because she blows everyone out of the water when it comes to subs....and probably the only one that has hiked the triple crown .....
Tylenol... 500mg every 4 hrs
"Big names on UA-cam " lol
❤😂
Ah the backpacking communities diversity on display lmao. Oops I look like you so no opinion then.
I'd like to know why virtually all hikers wear stupid baseball style hats these days?
