I used to be excited to watch every week but once they lost Troy and Pierce I was like..meh...and now they lost Shirley too. these next 12 episodes are going to be hard to watch.
It's best not to continously compare the seasons, just enjoy what is happening. Yvette had to leave because her dad was sick and a lot of people think Frankie actually nails it. The frisbee thing was an excuse to explain why the cafeteria has pillars (yahoo picked them up - more like rescued it - for this season and that required some cinematic changes).
I love the frisbee part. I never complain about more Leonard lol. It’s just difficult when watching every week knowing how perfect season one two and three were to now have to watch an entire season without the entire cast. I have to do a better job of disassociating it from the beginning and comparing it to only the episodes that don’t have the entire cast.
It gets way better from here. Paget Brewster turns out to be a great addition to the show. I really like season 6. I agree with you about season 5, too. It's the weakest for me, more so than season 4.
i just watched ep 2 for patreon. I did like how they had Britta talk to another WOMAN about her problems so if they become good friends, and Britta needs more stable good freinds, it would be worth it.
@@screensanctum A lot goes on in that episode. I love the dean with his vr. So funny. Annie and Abed's story. Elroy. I also never related to Britta so much as I did in ep 2. There's still some shuffling going on while Frankie finds her place, but she's definitely part of the group now. Also, while reacquainting myself with this episode, I found Community episodes with commentary from Dan Harmon. 👍
@@angelagraves865 some thing I just realized is why has it been almost 2 1/2 seasons since the Dean wore one of his elaborate costumes? Why did they stop that? That was one of the best things?
S6 is a top three season. People hated on it at first because it feels different and i get that, but upon rewatch i realized how brilliant it is and the new characters are fantastic even if they can't replace the originals. It's better than 5 and miles ahead of the infamous and awful season 4.
agree to disagree. I really feel people who are OGs on this show don't want to give season 4 credit because Dan wasn't there. So far there are no episodes without the main cast, to me, that are better than the episodes WITH the main cast.
@@screensanctum it's odd before I even knew the behind the scenes drama season 4 was the season where I skipped the most episodes on rewatch it also contains a few of my favorite episodes tho but I think naturally it does feel off but 6 for me is so good even if it feels different
I've grown to appreciate that we have a season six. There are some differences, but it allowed the show to have both further character growth and an ending. Due to the cancellation and subsequent last-minute rescue, Jonathan Banks and Yvette moved on. Yvette also wanted to spend time with her ailing father. It was awesome seeing her in the end tag. I love how they use Abed as the meta to ease the audience into the season. :) It's interesting he says only Jeff saw Pierce's hologram. Paget Brewster is very good. She appeared briefly in season five, as a different character.
oh i fully realize my perspective is different than yours and all the fans who watched live. you all weren't even sure you would get a season 4 or season 6 let alone a season 6. So watching live was a different beast. LIke you said you were ELATED that you got 6 seasons. As much as I feel a drop off since some of the cast left, the show is still good. Very good. But to me it USED to be perfect. Like, it didn't go from perfect to shit. It went from perfect to very good.
A lot(!) of fans loooovee Frankie - I hate her, lol. She's just so bland and cringey, and doesn't add anything. That's just me. I wish we could've had John Oliver in S5 and S6 as a main character. Wasn't a fan of Banks either. Felt kind of out of place. I do have to say that S6 is a lot better than S5 so there's that!
i was so happy that john oliver was in most of season 5 would have loved him here too seeing as it seems Shirley is gone too? Frankie just doesn't fit. The outsider that none of the insiders wants to like is boring. Pierce worked because he was funny, and he was an insider that people didn't like that the group kind of tried to tolerate. as much as i LOVE Abed he doesn't work without Troy. it feels like they are just trying to figure out what to do with him or who to pair him with. Just to put it plainly, in my opinion, this show lost its charm when it lost its cast. Is it still funny? Of course it is. I just dont' feel like I am watching "Community" any more though.
@@screensanctum What I feel like is interesting about Frankie, is exactly that she is "boring". That she is a totally different character to all the others and that she is not a replacement of anyone. And actually the ending of this episode on the contrary shows that she has something in common with the group, some sort of "craziness" (for lack of a better word :)?) that might mean she can be an interesting fit. And I have my issues about s06 (it actually gets better with rewatches for me), but the show would have to change from its format anyway, and maybe its natural progression was stopped due to s4 reorganisations and unfortunatelly loss of main characters. But regarding Abed, if he doesn't work without another person, that would make him a bad character. I think they are an awesome, unique duo with Troy, but it is interesting to see Abed in other interactions too.
@@terentule I wouldn’t necessarily call Abed a bad character now. I have noticed that he’s never really stated that he misses Troy or they’ve never shown him Sad that Troy is not there. I think that would make an intriguing episode since Troy was the best friend Abed ever had. Like a real true friend. So far it feels like he’s forgotten about him.
@@terentule That's the one thing I hear from other Frankie 'fans' - she's interesting because she is 'boring' and is in a way opposite to the group. I disagree. She's just boring because she's boring and to me doesn't add anything. At all. There are tons of ways to introduce characters with the 'boring' trait that can be fun, but she ain't it. Her jokes, or things that should be funny about her, aren't funny at all. She low-key partly 'ruins' S6 from being better than it is, although I stand behind my opinion S6 trumping S5.
@@screensanctum The episode where they introduce Banks is an episode focused on Abed missing Troy, although in a more covert way. It's part of why Abed freaks out and starts yelling and screaming (totally out of place for his character) when he misses his movie. It also is more overt in the very early part of that same episode. He's also mentioned in the episode where Annies brother visits and says that 'the black guy in the photographs clearly left some kind of void' (S5E09). He'll be mentioned in the future several times and am sure has been in S5 even more times than I just summed up.

imho season 6 is the weakest.
there was only one episode i really loved, and that's the one before the last episode.
so far i agree. this show used to be special. Now its just very good. Very good is still...VERY GOOD.
