- Jumping from an airplane takes guts and a strong stomach, but it also takes training and practice. Melissa Anderson takes us to tower week in Airborne School, where students are getting one step closer to taking the big leap.
I went through jump school at Benning in 1971. I had been afraid of heights my whole life. The first time I jumped out of the 34 ft tower, you say you name before you jump so you can be scored. I forgot my name! After the first jump from the tower I’ve never had a fear of heights again for the rest of my life. It scared it right out of me. I loved jumping from the first one out of a C-141. When I turned 50, I made a free fall jump from 13,500 ft. It was awesome!
Lol that was me at every Army obstacle higher then 10 feet, always had a fear of heights
1LT Hill at 0:52 in this video just finished Pre-Ranger here at Ft. Bragg (June 2013). He is on his way to earn the Black and Gold of the Ranger Tab. Good Luck Sir! RLTW!
Must be a TACP
Congratulations Lt. Hill.
I didnt know the Air Force had rangers...
Hello sir, may I please have an update on LT Hill 6 years later? Thank you!
How's he doing these days?
Just got back from my Son's, Graduations at Ft Benning. What a beautiful Base. Really enjoyed our visit, and everyone there was so helpful and professional.
5 points of contact :} how many times did we ever land on all 5 points !!
I streamlined my landings to three, heels-butt-head.
Only never..lol.

true. made me laugh there.
Feet hit first followed by your hands.. and bang 5th point your head 😂😂
That moment when you pull your risers like you did in the suspended harnesses and you realize you don't need to pull that hard.
I was C316 in August 1977. We were doing rear PLFs on swing landing trainer when the black hat dropped me straight on my back. He asked me thru the megaphone if I was ok. All I could see was stars.
The Swing landing Trainer. Harder landing then i had in my 67 real jumps...
Tbh that was a good thing lol, other way around would mean many broken bones
My number was 228 back in 1978 AIRBORNE,
Unfortunately my number was
747 then 747P 😅
Mine was 100. Also, CPT Leonard B Scott was my Airborne Company Commander. He was a great company commander and inspirational leader. He wrote several novels. He is also a great Oklahoman (my home state, too) and a great Sooner fan.
Forgot to put in my year of attendance, it was 1971.
DID YOU TRAIN WITH THE SEALS ? AND THE BLACK HATS
💪
PLF! 5 points of contact! Stand up, hook up shuffle to the door. (Jumps) "what the hell was I supposed to do?!"
Wow it’s an honor to be protected and please everyone reading this chase your dreams no matter what faces you!!
I SHALL GO CHARGE THAT WARLORD CLASS TITAN
Fundamentals haven’t changed but anyone else remember rotating your boots because they needed to be spit shined every morning at first formation?
BAC June ‘88
Airborne school of November 2004 the best experience ever in my life
Watchin this brings back memories, I actually loved it. Good times in '99😁
44years ago, memories.
Those were great times.
Thank you for your service!
Thanks youtube recommendations once again
That brings back some memories
After the first jump you get over the fear quick and then that all you want to do its a blast of fun!
I went through in 65 and the jump master would come by and ask us a question to make sure we weren’t catatonic. The drop zone was in fryer field in Alabama and the jump master asked me what state I was in. I replied a state of shock. The last thing I remember in the airplane was 3 guys ahead of me. The next thing I remember I was outside the airplane with a boot print on my butt.
Thanks
the thumbnail made me think they were pranking a blindfolded student by making him think he was jumping out of a plane and then dropping him into sand for some reason
Feet and knees together. After that roll with it.
Awesome
I was in the RAF and we always insisted you stay in a perfectly serviceable aeroplane , only a dope on a rope jumps out - seriously my admiration goes to all the Paras (UK) and Marines (US)
This is really cool
Load Clear 👍 Good Jump
This looks hella fun
Yes.
Looks cool
The rear PLF is very dangerous than the other PLFs.
“Parkour”
Go get ‘em boys
That's all its Miles
"A leap of faith"
I like this video
Nice
I loved the Slam Dunk Trainer back in the day....
The wonderful Towers
That looks fun
This is really interesting
I remember the first day on the 34' tower, most everybody was sloppy, outta sync, and there were push-ups galore 🤣🤪 On the 5th day, it was well-oiled professionals in sync!👍😎👍 '69 jump school, Papa 32
Nice to know
this is cool
Canadian airborne here 57 to 64 , I noticed they didn’t show the high tower just the mock tower ...?
Jump school was fun in 83! Skystrike 43
Been there done that Airborne!!!!!
Sound off for equipment check.... 1 OK, 2 OK....all ok jumpmaster....stand by! Being a paratrooper makes you a better soldier, that's the truth.
Cool
This is the only part that scares me about taking any sof route
Stop letting fear control you, one day you will look back in regret
this is epic
Piece of cake🇺🇸👍
Jumping from that tower with bungee actually seems pretty enjoyable, probably not with all that gear on, but as a touristy theme park thing, it would be fun!
Damn 7 years ago...... I wonder where are they now
Why are they jumping on 2 legs?
Sick
Nice recommendation youtube
Jumping from the tower the guys with open legs, looking up.
Keep Boots together and Chin down.
25 inf div. Keep up the fire.
Wonder how these guys are doing now
Did I search for this, No
Did I watch the whole thing, Yes
I REMEBER THIS FROM 1980
Seems fun asf😂
Airborne!
That’s cool
Why is there a USAF LT there?
Ft Benning GA my old stomping ground
Yep
This looks like a military themed amusement park
Takes some guts
Imagine the ww2 Germans that had to land strait forward on their face, any hesitation during that exercise and they were out
And now they have graduated airborne school and are veterans. Probably
Four weeks with hell week then 3weeks of training
I was expecting something funny but what I got was something oddly educational & interesting
Familiarity soothes our fears.
Was that LT. Dan?!?!
Someone finna fall off YEET !
I'm terrified of heights but if I volunteered to be stupid I'd just blank my face and do it.
I wonder how many people have been tangled in that tower. lol
one when I went through in 1964.
Woow
❤️
Wow
How does anyone have the courage to jump out of an aircraft?
Where we dropping bois
Hell, tower week sucked more than zero week and was the worse of the course. 83' A-ATW

I feel bad for anyone that landed weird during training
This looks hell a fun. I want to try.
Ah yes the floor is made of floor
Why do they remind me of chickens when they hop
ah... i see myself in this video....can you find me...i wear a black hat
Ww2 and ww1 they would of just strapped you into a parachute and push you out the door
