- In this video we’re reviewing the best credit card offers and credit card sign up bonuses in May of 2024. Right now, there are some really great limited time offers that you might want to take advantage of, so I tried to cover as many of these credit cards as I could. Most of these offers are for Chase credit cards, American Express credit cards, and Citi credit cards so I hope that you can find some value in these offers.

Hey Daniel, love the content! Regarding the Chase Sapphire Preferred, just wanted to know if you could combine the in branch offer of 85k with a referral link? I currently have the Sapphire and wanted to send a referral to my girlfriend so that I could earn the bonus. But I wasn’t sure if that worked for in branch offers. Not sure if we could potentially earn 95k points or we would be capped out at 85k

I had my player 2 sign up for the 10x offer and she was approved, I am stoked. I have a freedom flex, freedom, and csp myself already.
Does the 10x pop up in the rewards on your online portal because it doesnt show up for me. I called customer service and they said it was automatic and that i had a 9x offer on groceries.

Curious if they change the reward without you realizing it when you login to your account? They don't appear to provide that information when you are redirected to your account to sign-up for the card.

Hi Daniel! Great video as always. Quick question, suppose I want the in-branch Chase offer to get 85k points after 6k spend in 6 months. Does that mean I can spend at a pace of 1k per month and still get the bonus? Or do I have to for sure spend 4k in the first three months and then only an additional 2k in the last 3 months? Thanks!
It’s a 2 tranche bonus, so the first 75k points comes after $4k spend in 3 months. And then you get an additional 10k points after $2k more spend in the next 3 months for the 85k total bonus points.
Thanks Gabriela! So I think the comment above summarized it well - but yeah you would have to spend $4K in the first 3 months no matter what which would get you the 75K points. At that point, you then become eligible for the extra 10K points after spending $6,000 within the first 6 months

I got an 80k sub through a mail in offer for the CSP. $4k spend in 3 months requirement!

can you transfer american airlines miles?
I got 10x CFF offer every time I checking it. But it might be a little hard for me to spend 12000 on groceries since costco target or walmart are not counting for groceries.
Very good point on the Costco, Target and Walmart thing. Personally I don’t shop there for groceries so I forget about that sometimes - but obviously that’ll effect any approach for how to play this offer 👍

@@Daniel_Braun Where do you shop for groceries? Grocery stores themselves are typically more expensive and negate a lot of the credit card rewards. Now, the 10x on the Flex is another story entirely and should make some people reconsider switching until they hit the $12k spend.
Personally I shop at Giant, Wegmans, and Trader Joe’s because they are all within 5 minutes of where I am every day. So for me, I’ll gladly pay slightly more for convenience because of the time savings. These stores also carry the types of food that I like (Walmart and Target don’t have everything I want)
To me, the prices have actually been more competitive at Giant and Trader Joe’s as well - especially Trader Joe’s. I also am now near an Aldi, so I’m going to try that out too
@@Daniel_Braun I totally get it! I overspend on things that provide me more convenience as well with fitness being my main overspend category! Thankfully, living in the Midwest provides me the convenience of being really close to discount/big box stores so I can cheap out on groceries.
@@cybertoeknee I love that! I’m the same way with fitness - paying more for my gym this year compared to last year. But I can afford it and I have a rule for prioritizing health in my budget. Always good hearing others thoughts on this as well, so thanks for sharing 👍

Yeah this is the perfect offer to jump on in my opinion! Hopefully this is a sign of Chase testing out more rewards on grocery spending. It's weird that they run these grocery offers on the Freedom cards, but still can't make one of their cards have a permanent grocery multiplier haha
Did I hear this correctly? If I already have the freedom flex and my wife applies and is accepted, We can link our cards and both get 10x on groceries? What if she’s already an authorized user on my card?
She can get approved for the new offer and you’ll be able to connect your points if you ask Chase to connect your accounts
Anyone know if I can use an offer letter for getting a new card?
On your application, you can put whatever income you reasonably expect to earn. So if you know what your salary will be then you can put that. Issuers don't actually check this and wouldn't require an offer letter for proof. That being said, always be truthful in what you put on the application as well 👍

Can you get the 75k on the Reserve if you upgrade your preferred to reserve?
Unfortunately no, the offer is only for opening new a new card and you wouldn't be eligible just by upgrading
No can only get one Sapphire bonus every 48 months
If it’s been at least 48 months, you can downgrade your CSP to a freedom and then apply for a new CSR. I recently did the reverse.
Just got approved for the flex, and I applied with the 10x offer. How do I verify I actually got it? On the app it just lists the normal card benefits but idk if it’s just a “hidden” bonus I get in the background
It’ll be in the background - you should be able to call Chase to confirm this offer if you’d like. I didn’t read the terms for this offer, but it’s also a good idea to read those as well. For example, sometimes the points may be deposited after your first year in 1 lump sum
Got approved for the citi premier a day before they announced the new card a 75k bonus 😩 They said they can’t match it.
Oh wow that’s really frustrating to hear that! That’s where I guess Chase beats Citi because they’re matching the 75K offer out to a month before the new offer came out

Good point! The Amazon/Whole Foods category is only active until June 30 though when Q2 comes to an end. So if you have the card until then, then shopping at Whole Foods should earn 14X back like you said (I would assume)
Would like to hear your opinion on the cash back as untaxed income to invest on the ‘Team Cash Back’ side of cards, which I’ll admit is very much the side I’m on. I know a lot of us tend to view annual fee travel cards as paying to sit in a slightly different section at an airport vs saving potentially thousands of dollars over a long horizon as a no brainer, but as someone who disagrees I’d be interested in why. Not trying to tear down your videos, honestly trying to understand the why you and so many others stay on ‘Team Travel?’
I’ll will also very much concede the lounge access is not the primary benefit, just an easy way for us ‘Team Cash Backers’ to poke fun at the other side. Enjoy the videos as always
To me, credit card rewards and investing are best left as separate pieces to anyone's personal finances - if you're on Team Travel. If you're on Team Cash Back, then by all means do whatever you'd like with the extra cash. Investing it is probably the best use because it's essentially bonus dollars.
The leverage on the travel side of things with points and miles comes from the fact that $1 in rewards can equal $2 of travel or $3 of travel, etc. if redeemed strategically. For me personally being on Team Travel, having a few extra dollars to invest from cash back is mostly negligible because I already take care of that with the automated investing that I do every month. What really moves the needle for me is being able to leverage my credit card rewards to save money on travel in the short term. I'm someone that uses credit card points as more of a tool to save money on travel (as opposed to some people who prefer the luxury redemptions).
Essentially, there's no wrong way to look at it here with redeeming for travel to save money, redeeming for luxury travel, or even opting out of travel to just invest the cash back. The only wrong way to do the credit card game is paying interest
Also for some people like me, I like the airport lounge access and it makes travel even more enjoyable - so there's value in that. For other people, that means nothing. Value is very subjective, so to me I'm never going to judge people for preferring different ways to get value from credit card rewards. As long as we're all moving forward financially and happy in life, then it's hard to lose 👍
@@Daniel_Braun Thanks for the reply, and completely agree on never paying $0.01 for interest, also agree with your point that this is not the primary tool for investing/savings.
I would however push back about the amount being negligible, as over time and with compounding interest on the cash every month, the numbers over the course of a "working career" (I use a 40 year assumption in my own calculations; age 22 to 62) can add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
While this will never be my primary funding source for savings or retirement, as "found money", I'll take the extra.
I also have an issue with increased sign ups and rewards rates, only to have points devalued and annual fee increased, as a massive bait and switch.
Thanks again for your perspective, and while I don't think we'll ever agree, I appreciate hearing from from with someone with a different opinion on the internet and it not being something where one of us got "owned." (or maybe I did get "owned" and just missed it)

8k in 6 months is easy in California 😂 Utilities, Health/Car insurance, Food and gas alone is a 3k plus a month and that’s in a PAID OFF home in Inglewood🙃
I checked the flex page and got the 10% offer. I then had to do something and when I went back to the page I keep getting the 5% offer 😭

Did you apply on the page that said 10% back? Or did you apply with a different offer page? You'll be locked in at whatever the offer said when you clicking the button to apply
@@Daniel_Braun I clicked apply and it had me log in and then i applied. There is no bonus offer on the rewards page for the account, If i recall correctly it appeared instantly on my other card when i got itso should I wait to get the card in the mail or am i out of luck with this one?
@@drewclyborne You can call Chase to confirm what offer you had when you signed up and they should be able to tell you. Like I said in this video as well, I always recommend taking a screenshot of the offer page before clicking through to apply so that you know what you're getting. It can also help to read the terms and conditions of the offer to explain things better than I can. Hope that helps - but you should have an offer of some kind because I rarely ever see Chase not have an active offer on this card
