    I was looking for a short clip about how to remove the RNS-E unit. What I got is a comprehensive, very well made video of not just that, but also some valuable and extremely helpful background. This is truly an excellent job - thank you so much for making and sharing. Liked, and subscribed👌👌👍👍

    Your videos are great, really got me out of spending money. I had to replace my back light on the cabriolet because of leakage, great vid. Someone put the jump leads on my battery the wrong way round and now the radio and the key fob wont work any more, going to check the fuse on the radio when I get back and then look into the fob, I am hoping its just the fuse

    Excellent video, clear spoken relevant concise instructions, well lit, high quality images from excellent camera work. Additional explanations on locking mechanism operation once unit removed gives invaluable to someone removing the unit for the first time. Also warning to protect gear lever well thought out and helpful. Well done.

    Can you tell me if if i was to buy an audi RNS-E, could i literally 'Plug and play' ? i currently have the audi concert installed but would like to upgrade!

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  3 роки тому

      If you already have a double din stereo then yes, it is relatively plug and play. You may sometimes need a loom adapter, but not usually (depending on the existing wiring you have). But you will need a Fakra aerial, which can be fitted under the dashboard for a clean finish. If you have a single din stereo it is also possible but you will need to either change your centre console, or adapt it (and you may need a different ashtray from memory as well). But yes, all perfectly doable. Hope that helps! www.paypal.me/totaltechnik

    Hi, I have a 2008 Audi A4 with the symphony unit and was wondering if the wiring as such is compatible with swapping it for a used Audi navigation type system? Thanks

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  6 років тому

      Yes, absolutely. This is a very common upgrade on this platform. The plugs can be different depending on the system on your car, age, options etc, but if the plugs are different there are various wiring loom adapters easily available from places like UA-cam to convert the plus between the car and unit. So yes, absolutely possible. Budget an extra $30-40 for looms just in case. Used Sat Nav units are readil;y available on eBay :-)

    Hello. I have a 2006 a4 cabrio and my wiring harness to the trunk lid went bad. Could you please tell me which universal antenna can I purchase and where to tap it in back of the rodio. Special connector? I can install the antenna near the visor. Three years without a radio so I like to get this fixed. Also my radio has navigation so it lost signal to that too but i can use my phone for this. Thank you.

    Hi, do you also have a video how to manually remove a DVD from this unit? I took the top lid off, can see the DVD but cannot get it out because it is stuck and it feels like there is some trick to push somewhere to release the DVD...? The eject button is not working so that's no option. Thanks.

      Hey there! There are a few variations in wiring depending on the car age andoptions fitted etc. However, in most cases there are ready-made adpater looms available to make whatever you need fit into whatever you need it to. Have a search on eBay for Audi A4 wiring loom adapter, something like that, and you should find them quite easily, and take a look through to find the version you need.
      Best of luck!

    Cracking video! I want to be able to connect a DAB radio/Bluetooth/Hands Free adaptor to this radio but they all seem to require an 3.5mm Aux-in jack plug, which this unit doesn't have. Is there a way I could sacrifice the input from the CD multichanger and substitute it with this Aux-in lead and would I need an adaptor. Thanks.

    Hi, I’ve just put one of these units into my own car from a donor car I have. The car I am installing it into had a concert radio, I had to get a harness adapter because the plugs are different... Can you tell me how to get the factory Gps Antenna / fakra as you mentioned in your video ? I have searched everywhere for this on UA-cam but can’t find anyone who shows this.. your other videos are great and very helpful. Thanks in advance

      Absolutely. Try going on to eBay and search for 'Audi Fakra Antenna' and you should find them easily enough :-)

      Total Technik , yeah but I mean from my donor car which I removed this head unit out off the gps antenna I disconnected from the rnse is there but i just don’t know where the other side of it is or how to remove it... is this possible ? Thanks.

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  3 роки тому

      The GPS antenna is on the roof, and requires dropping the headlining down to access. It's a lot of work, and so most people just spend the $10-15 to buy an aftermarket one and install in above the glovebox area (below the dash). We've done this and it works great!

      Hey there! Check out the end of this video:
      ua-cam.com/video/MUutiLy2ldA/v-deo.html
      The code can be recovered cheaply and quickly if it has one, or you have lost it. Note that video is RNS-D but the part about where to get the code if you have lost it applies to all Audi stereo systems including the E.
      Best of luck!

      The best option would likely to be to tidy up the previous work. Get it all nice with proper connectors to replace any splices etc. You could try eBay, but I guess you want the plugs and immediate cabling rather than the whole loom?

    So i bought a 2007 A4 with the Nav plus , but the screen dose not turn on but the radio plays , Can the screen just be toast ? or maybe a fuse gone bad ? any advice would be great

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  7 років тому

      Yes, the screens can and do go bad. You can actually buy replacement screens from places such as eBay.
      It's unlikely to be a fuse as the fuse controls the power to the whole unit, not just the screen, unless there is some kind of internal fuse on the circuit board.
      The best option might be to buy a replacement used unit on eBay. They are sub £400 these days, which is still a chunk of money, but might be a lot better than trying to take the unit apart and replace just the LCD screen (unless you are good with electronic repairs and components of course).
      Best of luck!

      dose your audi have the blue tooth installed for the phone? if you have navi that goes into on port, there should be a port as well to hook up a ipod cable ( i have one ) the other option is Phone, the cable plugs into the back of the head unit and then goes into the center console/armrest . So that port is whats thats for most likely

      Hey there - thank you, glad you enjoyed it :-)
      If your GPS antenna is faulty or missing you can install a new fakra sat nav aerial which you can buy from places like eBay for around £10/$15. You can then install that wherever you like - under the dash above the glovebox is the best location ;-)

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  5 років тому

      The usual suspect would be the sat nav antenna. Check the connections on the rear first, and maybe buy a cheap fakra antenna sub £10 on ebay for testing. You can then either install the new cheap aerial under the dash problem solved, or look to replace the proper antenna on the roof which will require dropping the headlining down at the rear to access.

    The keys kept pulling out for me so I used a plastic flathead tool to prize the unit out instead of pulling the keys

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  5 років тому

      Yes, the keys can do that sometimes, and some keys are worse than others for it. Often if you push the keys slightly sideways whilst pulling forward it can help the keys lock in.
      But once the keys are locking the mechanisms on each corner you can pull (or push!) it anyway you can if the keys are not cooperating.

      Hey there! You should beable to pick these up very easily on eBay or Amazon. Try doing a search there for 'Audi Stereo Key' or 'Audi Radio Key' or 'Audi Stereo Tool' and you should be able to find them easily :-)
