The fact that he was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years does NOT mean that he gets out automatically once the time is done. Especially since it was known that he didn't respect his curfew or the fact that he was tagged. It's for the parole board to decide if he qualifies to be released or not, and that will depend or whether he expresses credible remorse. Some murderers are NEVER released.
An eighteen year old who was let out of a parole term early murders a hard working woman who believed she was in her own home by herself. He gets life with a minimum of eighteen years! ??? Absolutely deplorable and shameful on behalf of the court system. The poor lady, her family and friends!
Love how life can be 15 or 18 years disgusting. 30 years needs to be the minimin .Why is life not for natural life.??totally bullsh.t? How dare the courts put such a low price on a life.
Our system here in the US isn't perfect at all but honestly, in the UK and Australia I don't understand some sentences. You can't reform a murderer, rapist, pedo, kidnapper.
I try to remember to lock my door every time i get in the house and i never open my door for anyone i don't know. Unfortunately i, several times I've left my door unlocked only by the mercy of God am i still alive. Rest in Peace Laila.
The sentencing guidelines in London are a joke ... They give you life but give you a minimum sentence to serve ... A longer sentence of 30-60 yrs sounds about right ... The people should petition their leaders to change the antiquated system ...
Tagging......what a USELESS practice! If performed properly, it is good. But if monitoring is poor or there are loopholes in the system, it is pointless as seen here.
The killer was “in trouble with the police since he was ten”. Child neglect and abuse are everyone’s problem. When we fail to protect children, they will suffer and they can grow up into extremely dangerous people. Children aren’t able to choose or fund their own lobbyists but of course they shouldn’t have to.
I refer to Singapore who still use ' Corporal Punishment' for very specific & Violent crimes! Now u may disagree& Amnesty International would i'm sure have their Lawyers creating speeches for the UN! .But just look at Crimes Rates& Stats for Singapore!.. Draw ur own conclusions!
Japan. You can be caned for spray painting graffiti. In their jails there is no talking. You must make your bed first thing in the morning, and you may NOT sit on it until bedtime. If you break any of the rules you are taken to an empty, solitary cell where you sit cross-legged on the floor. Depending on the infraction, anywhere from several hours to days. You may read books or have writing materials. No radio, no T.V.'s. They have very few repeat offenders.
I can’t understand the arrogance of a murderer. What right do they think they have to take someone else’s life. I’m mind blown that there are so many people out there with no conscience. I just can’t wrap my head around it. I hope he rots in jail.
This criminal, who's already wearing an ankle monitor (and who clearly isn't fit to walk amongst the rest of us - ever...) gets 18 years for committing a brutal murder?!? He'll be back out (at the latest...) by the time he's 37... itching to strike again, no doubt. The blonde psychologist blaming the victim for setting this loser off (apparently for simply existing...) is simply one sandwich short of a picnic.
In Europe they carry out lite sentence for murder that's a shame.. United States we don't play that shit if you get caught for murder that's either life with out parole or death row ... Or you choose 😮😮
Made it to the end. Brilliant police work. Frightening to think there are such evil young men still out in society. They should be kept under lock and key. Those tags a waste of time. My love to the family and sadness to the poor lovely woman who lost her life.

How the justice system fails again. At least they are consistent, they fail the community time and time again. This repeat criminal easily skirts around his so called curfew, and does anyone in the justice department get sacked ? Of course not, that would be accountability and we can't have that.
Sound editing----- please. The volume level varies greatly from narrator to interviews. Some of the folks commenting sound like they're next to whispering.
@@elizabethsohler6516 if it is even a possibility and it deters someone from commiting murder maybe it is worth putting on the table. It can also be given in the event there is no doubt a killer is 100% guilty. If they give life in prison it should be life in prison and NOT 18 years. Why bother to call it life then?
I find this odd. Am only half way through so shouldn’t comment however I am very old and may go to sleep soon. Wondering why you think it would be someone who liked her could do this. I would have thought someone on drugs .
the manslaughter boxer plea was the defence lawyer's idea; the accused was an opportunistic petty thief with no history of criminal violence; the husband was far too smooth to be honest, the psychologist was a real-life Sybil Fawlty, an expert in the bleeding obvious, who seems to have serious psychological problems herself
The UK usually do these type of things well, but this series is as dull as dish water. There are no photos of the crime scene, no family or friends with anything to say. The Police are always dull and just say the same thing over and over which in England is the word "enquiry". Then at the end, the sentence they get is a joke so what is the point of doing anything at all.

We have same problem in Australia. Totally agree LIFE SHOULD BE LIFE
Tell that to the do-gooders and judges.

Most countries have a min term with life sentences, even the USA, it does not mean they get out after serving the min sentence.

that poor woman and her family. such a senseless crime.
DONT YOU DARE LET HIM OUT. HES IRREVOCABLE 😢

why couldn't they prove he was there by his tracking ankle monitor ?

Rage killing?? If followed home WHY are they not on CCTV??
Not everywhere has cctv camera's, in suburban area's they rely more on private households security camera's, and not everyone has one.
Even if a CCTV camera is present, it may not be in working order.
Very sad someone could hurt these drear souls. Break my heart ❤️ 🙏🇨🇦
What a shocking difference between this investigation and a poor person’s, especially the kindness to the survivors.
He looks evil by his photoes.
18 years ? So he will get out when he is in his mid 30's to start it all again with this prison buddies ??

The question has to be, why murder?
He was already in trouble, she was a witness.
And why at that address? How did he come to be there? How far had he come from his Dad's home?

Respectfully disagree. Some of us want the story without the fluff. Past Examples: Forensic Files and New Detectives
