The fact that he was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years does NOT mean that he gets out automatically once the time is done. Especially since it was known that he didn't respect his curfew or the fact that he was tagged. It's for the parole board to decide if he qualifies to be released or not, and that will depend or whether he expresses credible remorse. Some murderers are NEVER released.

An eighteen year old who was let out of a parole term early murders a hard working woman who believed she was in her own home by herself. He gets life with a minimum of eighteen years! ??? Absolutely deplorable and shameful on behalf of the court system. The poor lady, her family and friends!

Our system here in the US isn't perfect at all but honestly, in the UK and Australia I don't understand some sentences. You can't reform a murderer, rapist, pedo, kidnapper.

The sentencing guidelines in London are a joke ... They give you life but give you a minimum sentence to serve ... A longer sentence of 30-60 yrs sounds about right ... The people should petition their leaders to change the antiquated system ...

The killer was “in trouble with the police since he was ten”. Child neglect and abuse are everyone’s problem. When we fail to protect children, they will suffer and they can grow up into extremely dangerous people. Children aren’t able to choose or fund their own lobbyists but of course they shouldn’t have to.

Japan. You can be caned for spray painting graffiti. In their jails there is no talking. You must make your bed first thing in the morning, and you may NOT sit on it until bedtime. If you break any of the rules you are taken to an empty, solitary cell where you sit cross-legged on the floor. Depending on the infraction, anywhere from several hours to days. You may read books or have writing materials. No radio, no T.V.'s. They have very few repeat offenders.

This criminal, who's already wearing an ankle monitor (and who clearly isn't fit to walk amongst the rest of us - ever...) gets 18 years for committing a brutal murder?!?
He'll be back out (at the latest...) by the time he's 37... itching to strike again, no doubt.
The blonde psychologist blaming the victim for setting this loser off (apparently for simply existing...) is simply one sandwich short of a picnic.

How the justice system fails again. At least they are consistent, they fail the community time and time again. This repeat criminal easily skirts around his so called curfew, and does anyone in the justice department get sacked ? Of course not, that would be accountability and we can't have that.

@@elizabethsohler6516 if it is even a possibility and it deters someone from commiting murder maybe it is worth putting on the table. The UK usually do these type of things well, but this series is as dull as dish water. There are no photos of the crime scene, no family or friends with anything to say. The Police are always dull and just say the same thing over and over which in England is the word "enquiry". Then at the end, the sentence they get is a joke so what is the point of doing anything at all.
