Ryed Irish Stout - St. Patrick's Homebrew Beer Recipe
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 січ 2018
- In this brewing tutorial we show you how to make the perfect Saint Patrick's Day beer, an Irish Stout with Chocolate Rye. We got this recipe from Mashmaker, a book full of homebrew recipes that's written by Michael Dawson. This beer is unique because typically barley would be used instead of rye malt. The rye should give this beer some sweetness, creamy mouth-feel, and some caramel and chocolate flavors. This is a perfect beer to pair with a meal of raw oysters, lobster, sharp cheddar, or a beef or lamb stew. We also made an upgrade to our brewing kettle for this brew day and added insulation. Insulating your brew kettle can help you save time during your brew day with faster heat up times. This is also our first beer of 2018, so we talk a little about what the year ahead looks like for Clawhammer and some of our resolutions. Check out the resources below for a full recipe, brewing equipment, kettle insulation info, and an educational article.

I love how Ross seems to be high as a kite here. Classic Ross.
Darkthone shirt earns a like
The dude is blasted boom. Dank nugs and craft beer is a perfect recipe for nirvana.
11:20 "You're gonna wanna go in both holes"...couldn't agree more!

My new favorite brewing channel!
Hey, I really like your videos, very useful for us rookies :)
How did the beer go in the end? What was the final ABV?
You guys are like the ZZ Top of homebrewing. Looking forward to more vids in 2018 from you
jimgam730 - Thanks for the comment. We're planning on doing a beer a week for the entire year.
As many times as these guys have brewed beer, it still looks like the first time they're doing it.
So when I brewed this last night with the same set up an all my hot break lasted the whole boil i swear I had to shut the element off a hundred times, I tried leaving the lid on but it boiled over 3 times so I had to leave it off. Is this normal with yals system?
Hey What did your FG come in at" I did a Dry Irish stout and OG was 1.044 and FG was 1.020 little disappointed but after 1 month taste and looks great!
Cheer, love you show!
I think it was 1.010ish. Ours turned out great.
Crossing off items on your "to do" list feels good.
But how's your progress on the "Threat Level Midnight II" script??
Better get on it.
Thanks for the video.
Another platinum hit.

Have you had any issues with your reflectix insulation melting? I was thinking about going that way, but it is only heat rated for 180 degrees... I've heard of some people wrapping their kettles with silicone gasket sheeting first or using a layer of ceramic cloth against the kettle, but those definitely raise the price point.
Jason- no issues at all. We have done quite a few brew days with it.
Clawhammer Supply
awesome, I'll have to try it then.
"Max 1650W on 110V" - God I'm so glad I live in Europe and there's 230V in our sockets.
what is your setup? or do you a video that you go over that?

can you multi step mash with your system?
It is super easy to do a step mash with the system. Just set the first mash temp on the controller- and then step it up to each additional step.
+S W - Absolutely! Our controller makes step mashing as easy as hitting a few buttons. Good question. It reminds me that we need to do a step mash!
Thanks for the reply. Did you ever post your beer smith settings?
Jumping in late... why not do a hop stand on your system as well as a step mash. I love SD super yeast makes great beer. Double it up, blow off tube and go! Keep up the awesome work cheers fun and entertaining videos
I get the feeling your editor enjoys "It's alive with Brad"
I would have such equipment ... so I lived so
Who is, Car Melly? 15:03
Is it the same person as, Car Mell?
All you American are talking about him
So if you know what your product needs as far as modifications why not just make that the standard issue?
This is my first brew of 2019. Copyied this recipe but went Irish stout wyeast 1084, we'll see what happens....fuck it! OG of 1.050 and FG of 1.013 ...bout 5 abv. Cheers guys!!
And how it was?
@@mv1y3eb2qs4 well last year I've refined the recipe a lil and barrel aged it, got 2nd place in a Maine homebrewers comp this year. 2nd outta 42 beers!
Nice
Why does it seam like every craft alcohol Chanel uses the same stock background music.
Darkthrone shirt \m/
Make so cheese bro !
Guys...hang a winch already...a ratchet strap, something!
We have one. It is used in a few of the videos. You will be seeing more of it in future videos as well.
Really? are you covering the pot during the boilling? don't you know that this causes flavors of cooked vegetables in the beer? Is it a beer or a soup?
False. We leave lid cracked when brewing with a 110v system. It doesn't cause any issues and we've actually done a video on this very topic.
@@ClawhammerSupply the truth is that you don’t need to cover the pan, it’s going to boil the same way.

this is a really sexual episode...
Ross is No Rachael! More Rachael please.
Rachael, is this your other account?
Why the whirlfloc tablet? It's a stout, you're not going to see through it anyway.
To remove chlorine.
Do you have to throw in a tablet?
