From my perspective, being able to speak more than one language is especially useful in life, not only to communicate with people from different places over the world, but also to learn about their cultures and traditions. The children that appear in the video show ambition and eager to learn; two things that, in my opinion, are essential to know the world around us. Also, they are in the perfect age to discover everything, so learning various languages can help them to normalize and appreciate the fact that every single person is different, but that does not mean that he or she is worse. As I see it, knowing how to speak at least one language different from your mother tongue can bring you many opportunities and, if we want to build a fair and multicultural society it is necessary that children understand differences as something especial, not harmful. Laura Sánchez Group 41 Primary Education
@Christina Reynolds i understand that it would be easier but in europe espacially in south/centern europe kids at school must to learn english or at least german by the age of 8-9 but most of ppl doesn't speak any other language but their mother language... and also for me who speaks three language but the most important is hungarian (my mother language) for me
Joel Jimber UAB Primary Education Grade: These multilingual school kids are very open-minded and have many ambitions in language learning. As childs, they have curiosities related to languages because as we can see, they find situations in which different languages coexist, such as Arabic or Spanish. Children are like sponges and its important to encourage them to learn different languages and cultures. This will help them grow up with a much greater cultural perspective.
Firstly I would like to express my admiration towards this group of children as they show a mature multilingual conscience. The fact that they learn in a cultural context where there are children from different nationalities, helps them to acquire more knowledge about the cultures that surrounds them. In addition, the British educative system is very efficient and I firmly believe that we should follow this methodology in order to educate children with an open-mind attitude.
Personally, it is really favourable for a child to be able to speak more languages than their mother tongue, because I think that being multilingual is very useful in life. Multilingual children are more used to use different languages, so in consequence it is normal that they want to learn more and more. In this sense, we must encourage and let them be ambitious. At this age they have the capacities to do it, so we do not have to put barriers to them. Mar Rodó Group 31, Primary Education (UAB).
Abril Garcia Ortiz, grup 31 educació primària, UAB: I strongly believe that it is good that children speak more than one language, so they are at the perfect stage to learn more easily. Since at this stage children are like sponges. So, I think that being multilingual is very useful in life. When you get older it costs you more to absorb knowledge of a language. I am sure that if you learn a language, it is an opportunity to learn about other cultures, and thus, be able to know their traditions, foods, lifestyle...
These children are in a multilingual school. It will be easier for them, in the future, to participate in a globalization and a cultural opening. We can see that they are very outgoing and talkative boys and girls, they are not afraid to speak. They have many ambitions in learning languages. This will help them, in the future, to be better at learning languages o whatever. Finally, currently, we need more multilingual schools. Because if there were more schools like this, boys and girls would be better prepared for the future. Ana Picazo Grup 41
Júlia Ribas Group 31 Primary Education Firstly, speaking more than one language opens a new world of possibilities. Being multilingual gives children better job prospects.Besides, the knowledge in more than one language immediately improves the chance of finding work after studies. Secondly, it is important to encourage pupils to learn more languages, at this young age they pick up information easily. Moreover, children have more aim to discover the world and all the cultures that surround us. For instance, as we can see in the video, one kid says that he would like to learn Arabic because of his neighbours. Teachers should take advantage of kids’ curiosity by teaching some new languages and different cultures.
Personally, I belive that school is very beneficial for the children because they can communicate in other languages and learn from other people. I think it is very important to speak more than one language because in this way you are more likely to communicate or to find a job. Moreover, it is a way to obtain information about other cultures. Núria Rodríguez Valero Primary education, group 31 (UAB).
Ángel Valverde, grup 31, Educació Primària UAB. In my opinion, being able to speak many languages opens up a world of possibilities for you to communicate with all the people in the world. However, it is obvious that it would be very difficult to know how to speak them all. Therefore, normally, people speak different languages depending on where we live, where we come from and depending on our tastes or abilities to learn it. In my case, I am very bad at learning new languages and it is a skill that I would like to have, since mastering many languages and acquiring their culture would make you learn a lot of new things. And if I had to advise people, I would tell them to try to speak as many languages as they could.
First of all, I have to say that I have loved how open-minded these children are and the inclusive attitude they show. In this video, we can see a school where children of different nacionalities, cultures and with a different mother tongue, in most cases, live together. Many of them are multilingual, and therefore able to speak different languages. It is at age when they know more and they are at the right time to do so, as they are like sponges that absorb any kind of learning. For this reason, I believe that our role, as adults, is to let them be ambitious and test their skills in retaining another language. Being multilingual is something very important, since it opens many doors for you when it comes to finding a job, for example. But not only that, it also enriches you as a person, in many ways. Lia Volpe Sales Primary Education (UAB), group 31
Some years ago, most of the people only knew their mother tongue and didn't have into consideration the importance of the languages. Nowadays, learning different languages can make opportunities increase in our lives. For this reason I think that as teachers we have an important role to encourage children to learn and practice languages of all over the world, not only their mother tongue. If we teach them languages since they are little, in the future they will be able to speak fluently. All the children should have the opportunity to learn. Paula Harillo - G31 (Primary Education)
Nowadays, a lot of importance is given into learning languages, since globalization can lead us to communicate with people from many different countries and for that we must be able to understand each other. This school in London is a good example of what globalisation entails, as most of its students are from different nationalities. All of them are very curious and eager to learn new languages, they know that it will be useful for them, either to communicate with their neighbours or because it is a language widely spoken all over the world and it will be useful for travelling. Janis Pintó Group 31, Primary Education UAB
Hello, everybody! In this video we have seen how these kids are able to speak more than one language. From my perspective I think that during the primary education it's very important to learn other languages. On the one hand it' s a tool to exercise the brain because it makes us recognize new signs and associate the meanings of different languages. But also on the other hand we develop the ability to defend ourselves in other languages and to communicate with the world more easily. Without any doubt, languages are a great stimulus for children, but we shouldn't abuse them if the children don't want. They are the protagonists of learning and we have to look for their centre of ineterest.
Víctor Martínez, UAB, Ed. Primària grup 41 I believe that being able to speak many languages is very important because allows these kids to communicate with a lot of different people. It's amazing to see how these boys and girls want to learn more languages and I also think that we have to let them learn everything they want because at short ages it's easier to learn than were you are older.
Spencer yet you turn the other cheek to natives being infiltrated by other groups of people from europe who are in power. but yes, progression isn’t nice because europe should be pure and good and all of the people there have to have ancestral roots in that country!
Honestly, I think that these children have a big advantage in their lives because they are in continuous learning, which makes them have a greater ability to learn. Moreover, these children get together with some other people who know other languages, and therefore their curiosity grows to know even more languages besides their mother tongue. So, I think it favors them because it is important to let children learn the languages and cultures that they want. Raquel Contreras Zamora Primary education, group 31.
Laura Rueda UAB Primary Education Group 31. From my perspective, children at these ages have and easy time learning and, the fact that they are multilingual and want to learn more languages, helps them to relate globally and to know other cultures. I was suprise by a child who says that English is not enough for him because he needs more languages to get to know the world better. It seems that everyone wants to learn more languages, so it's as if the multilingualism that exist in that school encourages them to learn and, in addition, to respect all cultures. For this reason, the existence of schools in which there is great cultural diversity seems wonderful to me because in this way everyone can learn from everyone.
I believe that children are the most capable human beings to learn new languages and, they are fully aware of the importance of learning lots of languages even if they are so young. They can bring us to a world where, in fact, globalization has really favorable things, and this is surely one of them. They are young and open-minded, with a fresh brain ready to be filled up, and i think, that if you motivate a child to learn a new language, making sure it doesn't become an unpleasant obligation , he or she will be really up to do it and will develop to a lot of knowledge. At the end of the day, this child will not only learn how to write or how to read or how to speak or understand some language, instead, he will be able to know lots of things about a whole culture of a place in the world, and this will definitely help him to grow up as a truthful human being.
Being multilingual gives them the capacity to learn faster other languages. These children have an open-minded personality and they have become such ambitious children because they have the interest to learn lots of things. I think that they must learn more than one language since they are little because when they grow up and become adults in this modern world, they will have to be able to comunicate in many languages. Maria Bibiloni, Group 31, Primary Education (UAB)
Jan Llobet, group 31, Primary Education (UAB) Personally, I think that in this type of schools children lives in a continuous learning, and this is fantastic! Obviously because they learn other languages all the time, and nowadays in the world we all need to know more than one language to be able to improve, but also because as a consequence of being in contact with people of many different countries they learn little things about other cultures, and this for a child is very positive.
In my sincerely opinion, and once I've whatched this video, I can't be more agree that knowing languages are key to success in life. It has a great importance to speak and even more understand different languages around the world. And of course if this importance starsts presenting in a young age. All in all, be multilingual has ana amazed benefits. Not only focused in personal growth, also permits you to learn and acquire a considerable variety of views about life. Moreover, allows you to be more open-minded, a crucial skill for all fases in life. Berta Candela, Group 41, Seminar: A
From my point of view, I think it’s very gratifying and important that children can learn different languages. In addition, I think that when you are a child is easier to learn different languages that when you are an adult. For this reason, schools should give special importance to language learning. Having the knowledge of knowing how to speak in different languages allows you to have new opportunities and live new experiences. As a child has said, many people (on summer vacations, for example) visit new countries. If these children come to a country and know how to speak their language, they have a great advantage in life. It’s very different to arrive in a country where you cannot speak or understand what people are telling you or doing the opposite. For this reason, I think that language learning is one of the most important factors in the education of children. Marta Casasayas. Group 41. Primary Education.
Ainhoa Herrero Grup 31 Educació Primària. These children have a huge advantage over other children, thanks to their multilingualism. These kids show a lot of interest in language learning and in my opinion, I think that this is a fact that makes them different and special in a very positive way. In addition, they are in an environment where people have different cultures and languages. These, stimulate their personal growth and also increase their curiosity about what is unconventional for them.
We're glad to see some changes regarding the mentality the english have about their language! It's super positive that these kids appreciate the diversity in their classrooms and in their neighbourhoods. The fact that these kids have such motivation to learn new languages for such purposes really gives us hope to the future!
After watching this video and all this kids motivated to learn other languages I feel more inspired when it comes to learning a language, not only to be able to communicate with other people but also because I find other languages interesting and I would like to learn to speak or understand them Lucia Martínez
Aida Jimènez Bertran Group 31, Educació Primària UAB In my opinion, the fact of being multilingual in the world which we live it's a real privilege and nowadays it really is a necessity. Every day opportunities to study or work in foreign countries grow, and if children learn other languages from a young age they will have many more chances. Also learning languages is a way to stimulate the cognitive part. In conclusion, studying a 2nd or a 3rd language, for children and adults, has important physical and emotional benefits and gives us the opportunity to also understand our own language. And I consider very important that children know all the benefits that learning brings.
So you speak for Canadian French and also all first nation language (a lot, congrats!). For American, you speak also a lot of language ( Spanish, French, Navajo, German, Pennsylvania Dutch, Italian, Irish, Creol Louisiana, .... ( About 100 other language ) Australian you speak all aborigène language ? New Zealand do you speak Maori? South Africa do you speak Afrikaans, Xhoas, Zulu and all Khoisan language and all Bantu language of South Africa ? I think it is wonderful, you are so the people in the world who master the most number of language ! Congratulations!
Alba Pérez, Grup 31, Ed. Primària I believe these kids will have language richness. This will improve their future. They will be able to speak many languages, so this will let their reach better job places. It is not only important for job places; this will let them communicate with lots of people. As much as you talk with other people, you will learn many interesting things. If I were their mom, I would be grateful. It’s impressive that these children are so open-minded. However, we do not have to forget that learn a language requires much effort. Therefore, if they really want to learn a new language, we will have to help them as much as we can.
Patricia Domsa Grup 41 Primària UAB I am surprised and I find it interesting how children themselves can see the importance of every language. They teach us a lesson. A language doesn't have to be superior to others, they all have their uses. Knowing a language also means knowing different cultures and games. A language is not just a language.
From my point of view, i think that is very important the fact that those kids learn different lenguages despite of being in the same class. I think that it's very respectfull for them to let them choose the lenguages that they learn and let them keep learning their mother tongue. Speaking more languages than your mother tongue is very important nowadays because we live in a world full of cultures and globalization. In fact, learning more than a lenguage opens a lot of new possibilities not only for being able to communicate with them but also for opening their minds with full of new cultures and people. Cristina Porcuna, grup 41
Personally, I think children whom speak more than one language are more likely to be curious about the world in which we live in. Since kinds learn fester that adults it’s important that we teach them different languages as soon as we can. This will have a good impact in the children’s life because they will not only be able to communicate to a lot of different people but also learn about various cultures and traditions that will enrich their life. Lydia Vega UAB, Educació Primària, grup 31
Watching the video and in my opinion, I think that learning languages and knowing how to use them is very useful, and more necessary than we think. In this school, we can see children who speak two languages and even three. We can also se that speaking for them is not a problem, and in the future it can make communication much easier for all of them.
seminar C - Ismael Sekkou In my opinion multilingualism from a very young age is very important, it will open more doors for you in the future and this must be made known to children, who needs be not ashamed to know how to speak other languages .
Aida Salvador Perez - Group 41 Personally, I think that being able to speak more than one language opens millions of ways and opportunities for you, the opposite of if you only speak your native language. All these boys and girls have a common characteristic and is the desire to learn and know new languages and their culture; that ambition of wanting to know, to learn and looking for their futures.
Cèlia Flos, grup 41, Educació Primària UAB. You can see in their words and eyes that this children love to learn new languages, and they want to learn more. I think this happens for two reasons: the first one, because they are young and this is the perfect age to start learning new laguages. The second reason is the motivation tu understand the people who already know this foreign languages.
I completely understand why all this kids want to learn even more languages because that happens to me too. Eventhough I already know how to comunicate in three languages (catalan, spanish and english), I would love to speak at least 2 more languages. I think that being able to speak more languages opens you to the world and it introduces the culture of the country which speaks it. I think that being ambitious is a key aspect for learning and improving new languages. Alba Subiñas Polo, UAB, Educació Primària, grup 4.
From my point of view, learning new languages is a very important chance to communicate with people around the world and to share different experiences. Also, as the video shows, learning a new language can open opportunities in this multicultural world that we live and be more open-minded with different cultures and beliefs. Group 41, Primary Education
Maria Florido (UAB Primary Education, Group 71, Seminar A): From my point of view, I believe that is important for kids to grow up being multilingual because, in a future, they will be able to speak with people who don’t speak the same language as them. Moreover, I think we all should be aware of the importance of knowing a variety of languages. Furthermore, thanks to this video, my hunger for knowing languages has increased because these kids have influenced me on the decision of learning new languages.
I think that the best age to learn a language is when you are young. I believe that children learn faster than adults that's the reason why they can learn with less difficulties a new language. In my opinion, the ability to speak multiple languages is a great skill. Although it can be a little bit confusing for children to speak different languages at the same time it's great when they become adults and they can speak or understand everything. I think that it's really important to learn your mother tongue, but if it's possible, it's important, and I would also say rewarding, learn other languages. The ability to speak different languages can help people when they are looking for work, when they are travelling, when they are watching a movie... I think that it's not a "study" or a subject, I would say it's a hobby. Noa Escudero Mir, Group 41.
Anna Clapés, Grup 31 Educació Primària UAB After watching this short video I can say that I am amazed and kind of jealous of all these children. They are so young and they already speak more than one language. The best thing, though, is that they are excited to keep on learning more languages. Honestly I think multilingualism is all about advantages: it improves brain activity, memory, the ability to communicate with other people, it helps to learn new cultures and it offers some other chances as finding a job easily.
Marta Fontclara Serrallonga UAB Primary Education In my opinion, learning in a multilingual school has to be a good experience and advantageous for students. Children who listen to speak other people in other languages constantly can learn these languages easily and they will have positive habilitites that will be useful when they are older. Studying in this kind of school, students will learn that childs who speak other languages as a mother tongue is because of they are from different countries and cultures, so probably they will be interested in discovering their different habits, accents, countries, etc. Moreover, they will be better at socializing and it will make easier to know people, to make friends, to travel, to get more experiences, to get more knowledge, etc.
Alba Aranda Espinosa, Grup 31, Educació Primària I like to see that kids in the video are very used to multilingualism and multiculturalism. They see it as an opportunity to learn other languages. Learning other languages is useful for traveling, for getting to know your classmates and neighbours, for learning new games, and even for “traveling” without leaving your city when you don't have the resources to do so. It is important that educators can also take advantage of globalization for the benefit of learners, who also see it as a learning opportunity.
Laia Carbonell, Clàudia Barnils, Helena Arnal, David Cortés (UAB Primary education Group 71 seminar A): We think that cultural diversity is a strenght to be considered at schools all around the world. We think it's a good idea to make visible cultural diversity through this kind of videos. And it's also important to see the kids having fun while learning at the same time.
I think languages are very important and it is good for kids to learn as much as they can about them since they are very young. The more languages you know the better, because it means you can comunicate with even more people and travel around the world without worring about not being able to talk with anyone wherever you are going. I can speak fluently in 3 languages: spanish, catalan and english, and I'm also trying to learn italian at the moment, but in the future I would like to know even more languages, because I think they are part of the culture of any country and it's always grate to learn new things.
In my opinion, studying more languages other than the mother tongue provides the opportunity to travel, recognized new cultures, typical food, interests, and other things that help cultural overture. Furthermore, helps to be more skillful in language learning. In conclusion, I think that learning other languages helps us positively. Anna Calduch Otón- Group 41.
Alexandre Rodríguez, Group 31, Educació primària UAB I think that this Children have a really good point of view about multiculturalism, what supposes being receptive and grateful with all the other cultures that come into their country or into their school. In my school children didn't have the same ambition to learn languages than the children in the video, and I would say that it's more a cultural characteristic than a generational one, because nowadays I am still keeping in touch with children in Spain and they normally don't have this ambition about learning languages.
From my point of view, this students are learning a lot because they are with classmates of different countries so, for that reason, this help to them to develop as a person to live in a multicultural society. I think that is very useful to them because they learn different languages and they can learn meanwhile they are playing with others. Alicia Olmo.
Having this great opportunity to learn so many languages when we are young is amazing. I really kin of the attitude of this child. It’s very funny to see that, even though they know some language, they want to learn more. That’s because they want to be able to communicate with other people, for example with their neighbours. I would have like that when I was at school, the teachers had taught me more than these 3 languages: Catalan, Spanish and English. Paula Liébana, Educació Primària, Grup 41
This video shows us the multilingualism and multiculturalism in primary school and around their life by interviews. For example, the teacher did the game with piña, a Spanish word of pineapple, in the classroom. The boy wants to learn Arabic because he wants to speak with his neighbor in Arabic. I totally agree with the teacher´s opinion that learning a language can open children's eyes to know another culture, to gain experience. In my case, I studied the Spanish at university in China, when I began to know about the passionate soccer and festivals culture. Now I have the chance to study, make new friends, and enjoy the culture in Spain. What a wonderful experience is. And It influenced my character. Before I was a little bit shy, but now I am open to share my opinion with others. I love studying languages (Na Lyu, grupo 31, Seminario B, UAB)
This video is very impressive from my point of view because I can appreciate the knowledge that this open-minded kids have already acquired. We should know the importance of knowing different languages to be able to talk with anybody and to travel around the world, and we can see these that little kids can even learn talking to each other. It is very useful to talk more than our mother language, and it is a way also to start acquiring multicultural aspects from other countries. Sandra Sanchez Primary Education UAB 71
Maria Grau, grup 31 First of all, I want to mention that I was amazed at how easy it is for these children to change their language and speak more than one language. I think it is becoming more and more important to learn and know several languages. We live in a globalized society in which we move everywhere and we find people from different cultures and languages. Knowing the language of other countries will bring us closer to their culture and their way of doing things. Finally, I think it's important to learn new languages from an early age because in the not too distant future it will help them to find work and to meet new people.
As I see it, being able to speak different languages makes our lives easier because it helps us to communicate with other people when we are abroad visiting different countries. In my opinion, schools should give languages a bigger relevance doing more hours per week since the first year of school. In this way, children would have the chance of knowing how important and interesting languages can be, and how useful they are for the future, and they probably would be more interested in learning and improving. Moreover, in the globalized market in which we are living multilingualism opens us the opportunity to apply for an international job. Laura Monturiol - Grup 31. Ed. primària.
Nowadays, we live in a multicultural world, which means that we have plenty of diversity surrounding us. From my point of view, the capacity to speak more than one language it’s a useful tool to communicate with everyone and to learn about other cultures and traditions. Also, as the video shows, children have the ambitions to learn and as I far as I’m concerned, they are in the best stage to learn something new, like a language. Speaking at least one language different from your mother tongue can open you many opportunities and worlds that you have never expected before. Maybe learn different languages, it’s the key to build an inclusive society. Educació Primària - Grup 41 Marc Giralt
Aina Obiols UAB: I find amazing the way all this students speak about how useful it is to speak different languages. Their speech is very mature for their age. They are lucky enough to go to a school where multiculturalism and multilingualism are highly valued.
From my point of view, learning a second or even a third language at a young age is very useful. Living in a multicultural world involves living in a multilingual one, and these kids will have an advantage among other people when they grow up. I think that these kinds of schools offer a very open-minded education, and kids are able to learn many communicative skills. To sum up, I believe that this kind of education is very helpful for children and should be applied as much as possible around the world. Marc Solé, group 41 Educació Primària
Beautiful to watch. I genuinely think the world would be a better place if people spoke more than 1 language, as it would increase empathy and understanding.
María Vílchez Garrido. Educació Primària UAB. Group 41. From my point of view, it is very important to be able to speak more than one language. It allows us to communicate with people from other countries. This way, we can learn about different cultures and values. Children that appear in this video are in the ideal age to learn a new language and to develop their knowledge.Knowing many languages gives you the opportunity to work in different areas and to be able to acces a variety of jobs that, otherswise would be really hard to get involved with. On the other hand, I think it's better to learn a language because you are already motivated to do so. This way this becomes a hobbie rather than an obligation. For example, when I was younger, I never wanted to study any language at schoolo and now I'm trying to study Italian because I like the language and It's not mandatory and I am enjoying it. Learning a new languag should make people feel self-confident about their future.
In my opinion, children want to learn more foreign languages is a normal phenomenon that adapts to the development of the times. Nowadays, with the continuous development of technology and economy, exchanges between countries have become more frequent, and more multilingual environments and multicultural collisions have emerged. Mastering multiple languages is the key to mutual understanding and the power of historical development and social progress. We should cultivate and encourage children to be more willing to learn new languages. They represent a more inclusive and diverse future. Yufei Bian Group 31
In my point of view, being multilingual it's very important in life. It opens you to a lot of opportunities and it makes you grow in different aspects. Also, I love how these kids are so interested in learning many languages. I think it's very appealing to be in a school with kids from around the world, it makes you want to learn about their culture and their language. Kids are like sponges, by being a sponge I mean they learn super fast and get lots of concepts in their minds. That makes everything easier when learning a new language. Finally, I want to say that as teachers, we should encourage our pupils to always learn all the languages they want. Mariona Pujol, grup 31, Educació Primària
In my opinion, the children of this school have a great advantage in life because they are in a learning environment, where the multilingualism provides them the opportunity to increase their knowledges. In addition, these children join other people who know other languages and from other cultures. That's why I think this is school is so much advanced compared with others. Because it gives to the children the freedom to choose which language or culture they want to learn. Teo Soler, Grup 31
I found impressive how this kids have the motivation for learning different cultures at that short age, and I'm sure they'll be very open minded on the future, which is great!
From my point of view, I think learning and comunnicate in different languages is a great opportunity, especially for the functioning of the world in which we live. This can develop perfectly in adults, but even more so with children, because these work as sponges and have a great capacity for ambition and learning. If in the future I am a mother, I would very much like my children to enjoy this opportunity, that will allow them to open many more doors both in working life and in many other aspects such as travel or comunications. Alba Oliva. Primària grup 41.
First of all, I am amazed how mature these children are and how they talk about this topic. Instead of complaining about having to learn more languages than their mother tongue, they see it as a very positive thing for them. They understand that the more languages they learn, the more open and prepared they will be to know more about our world. In addition, the fact that they want to learn more languages in order to be able to understand others shows that they embrace other cultures and they do not discriminate against them. Finally, I believe that being a multilingual kid makes them be more independent, open minded and also more generous and ambitious because it allows them to discover and comprehend the world by themselves. Rhea Pajel - Primary Education UAB
First of all, I love the point of view of the children in the video. They are learning surrounded by different cultures since some children are Irish, African ... and they are growing up in a multicultural, inclusive and respectful environment. I think it is very important that children learn to speak another languages that aren’t their mother tong , it’s a fact that will open many doors for them in the future and will help them in their personal growth. In addition to enriching their cultural knowledge. Finally, I agree with Lucian when he said that all the languages are important and extremely useful. Mireia Varo Porcel Educació Primària-Grup 31
Mònica Badiella UAB Educació Primària. Grup 41. Seminari A. These children, being in these schools, are surrounded by more multilingual children. I think this produce more curiosity to learn more languages to communicate with each other. Since Kindergarten, it's important to lean languages because the boys learn easier at these ages. In my opinion, being able to speak many languages opens up more possibilities for your future, because it's essential to communicate, learn new cultures and acquire new experiences.
Paula Esteban UAB Primary Education Firts Grade. Seeing this children that are so young and know already how to talk this many languages in my opinion is such an amazing thing. They will be able to travel around the world an have a better understanding of different culture an also read a book in the original language. From my point of view the best thing to do it's that children start learning different languages and a very young each due to they absorbe everything so quick that it will be easier from them instead of learning that language when they are older.
Judit Guiteras, Educació primària, UAB. Grup 31 In my opinion, it is really useful in our lives to speak more languages than our mother tongue, because I believe that being multilingual is a possibility to communicate with people from different parts of the world. However, I think it’s more helpful to start speaking more than one language when we’re young, as it’s easier to learn and become familiar with the language. In addition, people who speak more than one language can learn different cultures and traditions. Finally, a multilingual person is more likely to be accepted into the world of work.
I think that socially it is well seen to know many languages, but I think that the technology we have today can save us the hard work of learning foreign languages. Many students suffer day by day because they do not like or find it difficult to learn new languages and they feel compelled to learn it. Still, learning a language can be beautiful.
From my point of view, I believe that today in day is a much important known and learn many languages for a future life. Is important that from an early age teach to they other languages and beetwen them speak different idioms because they can learn different customs, culture, expressions, etc. Judith Gómez, group: 41
After watching the video, we both agree that it is very important to take into account the different cultures and languages known by our students in the classroom and that this video is perfect to show the world variety and how special each group of students is. In addition, teaching children other languages from an early age and not only the mother tongue, helps them to develop as people and can be helpful for the future when they will start looking for a job, or go on a trip to other countries, etc. To sum it up, we could not agree more with the message of the video and this school. We, as future teachers, believe that it is very important to have an open mind and to create a better future for the next generations with everyone's help. Anna Carreras and Judit Dozo, Primary Education UAB, group 71.
Personally, multilingual or multicultural education is very important to consider because the fact that some children speak different languages as a native language could be beneficial to children that they don’t know any foreign language as well as children that know a different language to expand their knowledge and open their mind to discover a new language or culture. As future teachers, I think we have to take advantage of these situations and see it as an opportunity of learning jointly different languages, which as a consequence, it will allow children to understand another language, another culture and gain experience that it can be useful in a future. Mireia Rosado Group 31, Primary Education (UAB).
From my point of view, being a multilingual child is a really useful aspect in life. Learning another language is more difficult if you are more aged, so for a kid it's easier. I agree with the blond kid when saying all of us have different opinions, so there's no one language more important than the others. However, I believe English is the international language, so everyone sould know how to use it, besides the mother tongue and other languages. Mariona Macarrilla Primary Education (41) UAB
I agree totally with this video. English, in fact isn’t the only language in the world, but for all of us is the second we learn. It is very important to us to communicate with other people and English has become the main way to speak. The problem is the people who have English as their mother tongue, they usually aren’t interested in other languages or cultures and consequently they expect a world which have to be adapted for them. Despite of this, we have seen different children who want to learn more languages as Arabian, Spanish… also we noticed the importance of English, all of them were able to speak this language as the second tongue or mother tongue. The woman who appeared at the end said that learn a language means to learn also experience and culture. To sum up, with this video I learn the idea of working on a language is more than we think because it means to grow up and see the world from a different point of view.
Wow this is my old primary school I was in year 5 then. Now im in year 8 I remember when they were recording this video and I cant belive it has over 100k views. My first language is Bengali 2nd is English and the languages I learned at that school was Spanish and French. I'm currently studying Urdu in my seconday school/middle school (for all you americans) Im going to start learning Arabic too in a few years!
It is incredible to think that we can establish relationships with people who do not even understand their language, learning a new language opens many doors to literature, to life, work, and other activities
To my mind, the children who speak two or more languages have greater advantages in life. Especially, they have more advantage than people who can only communicate with their mother tongue. Also, I believe, that in the future they will have lots of facilities. When it comes to, find a job, travel, communicate with others they will have any problem because multilingual school children are extremely open-minded, as they are learning about other cultures and traditions constantly. Marta Carreras Moya Primary education, group 31
Judith Costa 41 UAB: From my point of view, I think that it’s important that children are educated like those in the video. We shouldn’t close doors to any language. I agree with the child who says all languages are important. We all know that English is an international language and that it is spoken in many countries, but it’s also important to be visible and learn other languages. I think it is very positive that children are teaching their mother tongue to their classmates. In this way, we naturalize the languages around us, learn and open our minds
Aroa Rodríguez Sánchez, Primary Education In my opinion, study in a multilingual school is a good point to learn more than one lenguage because you can find other students who speak different languages. In a south London school, the 53 percent of students have English as a second language. This has surprised me because I didn't know the level of multiculturalism that exists in London. Undoubtedly, I think that relations with other students are favorable for them because they can learn a lot of things about other cultures and this is important to develop a person's values. Finally, I loved the interest that they showed us to learn other languages and cultures. For example, Luciand wants to learn Arabic to understand his neighbours.
Studying more languages, not only the mother tong, is a way not only to communicate with more people around the world. It is an opportunity to learn about other cultures, get interests in their traditions, typical food, and lots of other things. We also get to know cultures that are not popular, and nobody have to hide their culture or language that it is not the official of the country. Marta Puig Mas. Group 41.
Glòria Capdevila, Educació Primària grup 31 UAB It is really impressive how these kids are very interested in learning languages. It is said that people from countries where the mother tongue language is English are not usually aware of knowing more languages, but this video is a good proof to disprove it. I think that more schools need to empower learning other languages, because, as some of these kids said, they are also useful around the world. Furthermore, it is easier to learn different languages as a kid than as an adult. I found it very admirable some of the opinion that these kids have. They are curious and they want to know better other cultures. Possibly they are openminded about that because in the school are studying a wide range of languages. In conclusion, I think that every school should be openend to offer the possibility ld studying different languages in it to turn their students into multilingual children.
Yasmine Álvarez Soler, grup 31, Eucació Primària UAB Firstly, I would say that this is a multicultural school which lets the coexistence of different languages. Such as I can see in the video there are students with Arab, Greek, Chinese, Amharic,.. as the mother tongue (L1). This aspect helps the learning of new languages and cultures. The students are interested in their classmates. I am positive that the primary school is the best time to learn different languages because the brain is so activated. In my opinion, our schools only give importance to English, but all the languages are useful as Lucian said. In fact, being a multilingual person has some benefits. In the working world you could access to many different jobs with opportunities of travelling. Furthermore, you could know more characteristics of the culture of a country if you know their language. Finally, you could enjoy the original version of films and series.
First of all, say that I'm agree with most ideas that comment the video. From my perspective, as well as I see in the video, being able to speak more than one language is especially useful in life, not only to communicate with people from different places over the world, also to learn about their cultures and traditions. So I like that the children that appear in the video show ambition and eager to learn because I think that this learning from different cultures and languages will help them in the future to be able to travel the world, have more chances to work, ... JUDITH OLIVES CODINA GRUP 31 EDUCACIÓ PRIMÀRIA UAB First, I want to talk about the school we saw in the video. I think in a school when we find different languages it can make children more interested in learning different languages to communicate. As I saw in the video, a child would like to speak Arabic because he has some neighbours who speak it, so this arouses his interest. Also, what has surprised me the most is that they are so small and already speaking many languages I think this is very positive for their future.
These days, our way of communicating is very extensive, we have many tools to do it, but the language is the key to everything. After watching this video, I am surprised at how these children with their age can change languages so easily and with the fluency they speak. I think that multilingualism is an aspect that must be learned from a young age, which is when children can acquire languages faster and their brain is more malleable. This has many advantages and I believe that all the schools that can implement this type of concept of learning had to. Because now these children have many more facilities and opportunities to understand each other and open up themselves to the world and to others. Ivet Puig Weisz Primary Education, group 31.
I believe that children that are multilingual, as it is shown on the video, have a lot of advantages throughout their lives. For example, they have more ease travelling around the world, since thanks to their communication skills, they can get to other people of different cultures. Furthermore, getting in touch with other cultures gives them a global perspective about life. I also consider to be multilingualism an advantage because it will be probably a job requirement in the future. Ainhoa Sánchez, grup 31
It's impressive how this little children are more open-minded than the majority of adults. It's amazing to can learn very differents languages and cultures. I hope, there's a lot of schools as this... We need more schools like this one!
From my point of view, being multilingual it is very important nowadays. As we can see in the video, it is also important for kids to be surrounded by a multicultural context, and not only by a multilingual context. Children live with other cultures, which expands their knowledge and their way of looking and understanding the world. It is also important to add that children have a greater ability to learn than adults. This means that they internalise and reach the contents in a more effective way. As we all know, being multilingual is a positive point for children's education. Laia Clemente, Primary Education group 31
(Student in Primary School Teaching UAB) In my opinion, kids who speak more than one language are very lucky. It has been studied that the learning ability of a child is huge. So, I guess when you are under 15, you should do and learn as many things as you can. On the other hand, when children are very young and toughly speak their mother language, learning another one may be confusing for some of them.
I think that It is impressive that the children know more than one language and favorable for the future, in addition to the fact that the combination of their cultures, even in their games, is great
From my own point of view, children who speak more than one language has many advantages. Learning and using more than one language in early childhood can improve a whole host of cognitive abilities and improve memory, these will transfer to any other language they learn. Each language they learn serves as a scaffold to learn another foreign languages. Multilingual children also tend to have more linguistic skills than monolinguals. On the other hand, children can learn languages faster than adults, thus teachers would use adequate strategies to increase children's linguistic competence. Jinqi Liang Grupo 31
I agree with the children, we need to learn languages, since it will help us on a daily basis in the work, social or academic sense, a clear example of this is that if you know different languages you can travel to different countries without the need to occupy a translator, and in this way you will feel more comfortable on your trip, another example is that if you know different languages you can get better jobs in different countries and in this way you can earn more money.

Well done England. Making good moves in the education system💪🔥

Firstly, speaking more than one language opens a new world of possibilities.

I am surprised and I find it interesting how children themselves can see the importance of every language.
You can see in their words and eyes that this children love to learn new languages, and they want to learn more. I completely understand why all this kids want to learn even more languages because that happens to me too. Eventhough I already know how to comunicate in three languages (catalan, spanish and english), I would love to speak at least 2 more languages.

I like to see that kids in the video are very used to multilingualism and multiculturalism.

I think that this Children have a really good point of view about multiculturalism, what supposes being receptive and grateful with all the other cultures that come into their country or into their school.

First of all, I want to mention that I was amazed at how easy it is for these children to change their language and speak more than one language.

Beautiful to watch. I genuinely think the world would be a better place if people spoke more than 1 language, as it would increase empathy and understanding.

Grup 31
In my opinion, it is really useful in our lives to speak more languages than our mother tongue, because I believe that being multilingual is a possibility to communicate with people from different parts of the world.
Some actually enjoy learning a new language so they can talk and personally communicate personally and create friendships.
From my point of view, I believe that today in day is a much important known and learn many languages for a future life.
Is important that from an early age teach to they other languages and beetwen them speak different idioms because they can learn different customs, culture, expressions, etc.

2:40 this little guy is speaking amazing, wow what a smart little bud
To my mind, the children who speak two or more languages have greater advantages in life. Especially, they have more advantage than people who can only communicate with their mother tongue.
Also, I believe, that in the future they will have lots of facilities. When it comes to, find a job, travel, communicate with others they will have any problem because multilingual school children are extremely open-minded, as they are learning about other cultures and traditions constantly.

Aroa Rodríguez Sánchez, Primary Education
In my opinion, study in a multilingual school is a good point to learn more than one lenguage because you can find other students who speak different languages.

It is really impressive how these kids are very interested in learning languages.

Firstly, I would say that this is a multicultural school which lets the coexistence of different languages.
The one Czech girl said "Já jsem hlad", which translates to "I am hunger". One would say "(Já) mám hlad" (I have hunger) ;)

First, I want to talk about the school we saw in the video.

I agree with the children, we need to learn languages, since it will help us
on a daily basis in the work, social or academic sense, a clear example of this is that if
you know different languages you can travel to different countries without the need to occupy
a translator, and in this way you will feel more comfortable on your trip, another example is that
if you know different languages you can get better jobs in different countries and in this way you can earn more money.
