    Love the giant floating unicorn….its like the lake itself….a totally rare once in a lifetime sight! A unicorn of nature! Have fun! Wish I was there!

    They failed to mention the relentless, record breaking levels of rain in CA over the last month as the cause for this. And Death Valley hit a near-record high of 129°F in 2023 (120° at night) with extreme heat experienced all over the world.

      It's not a boat launch. In that area of the salt flat there are board walks and that is what you are seeing.

      Ppl need to be smart. This is a great opportunity to plant trees? Where’s the Disney company and it’s promise of planting over a million trees in ppls honor? Where’s volunteers who care about nature and trees? Go there and plant trees even pine trees while there’s still water!

      @@ptech88 but because trees tend to grow roots that pick up moisture from the ground even far down. Even then planting trees would greatly change the ecosystem around there.

      Your numbers are off. The earth was flooded at one point. Water receded which left all those layers of sediment receding lines. Valleys were lakes even mountains were covered in water. But this was not over 10,000 years ago.

    Mom and I were just visiting the CA coast for spring break, if only the road to Death Valley wasn’t iced over! Now I’ll have to wait to bring my grandkids down there to “Death Lake” the next time it exists :(

      Its not the water id be worried about, its the very high alkalinity mud. Some of those people are gonna be sorry walking barefoot in that lake. Remember the people at burning man last year? It is corrosive on the skin
