What SCARES you when cruising?
Not sure scare is the right word but I get a bit anxious about
being late and missing the ship and germs so i take measures to prevent both.
Getting sick 🤢 on cruise.
Being late back to the ship after port. I don’t wanna be a pier runner
What SCARES me is parents who don't pay attention to their toddler and adolescent kids at the buffet while their kids grab food with their bare hands (and put it back when they decide they don't want it).

When my husband and I were on our Fall Colors Cruise on Carnival Victory on September 22 (11 days after 9-11) we were originally meant to sail out of NYC, but instead, we flew into JFK and we're bused up to board the ship in Boston.
Before boarding the ship, our luggage was x-rayed AGAIN; "frogmen" were diving under the ship to inspect the hull for bombs, and they did that in Portland, ME abd even our Canadian ports of call: St.John, New Brunswick, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Sydney, N.S.
On the way back to Boston, the last night of our cruise, we felt an odd swaying movement of the ship at dinner time. We heard a coded alert by the Captain, and realized that we were zig-zagging in an evasive maneuver.
Around midnight (back in the days of the midnight buffet), we went topside and looked out over the dark water with our binoculars.
There were three cruise ships (including ours) clustered within a 5-mile radius, escorted by a submarine and two destroyers.
We found out later that there was a terrorist threat on one of the three largest cruise ships, of which Carnival Victory was apparently one.
It was an i.n.t.e.r.e.s.t.i.n.g. cruise!

That water bottle hack lady said it was a joke. Hardly...its criminal tampering with something like that. It's unsanitary no matter what.. shame shame on you .
After seeing that “hack” I realized one of our water bottles was not sealed on Carnival Breeze embarkation day and i immediately notified the steward and asked him to replace it. We usually drink those so I was not happy and I’m glad she was banned. We also were booked an aft cabin and ended up with cigarette butts on our balcony most mornings.
The water tampering hit home. I was a new nurse in Chicago when there was the Tylenol cyanide poisonings. 8 people died. Not something to joke about.

When it comes to our safety they need to ban these people.
Prohibition didn't work in the 20's and early 30's and it would work even less on smokers! THEY have to make the choice to quit! The numbers have definitely gone down in the past 50 years, I assure you!!! Either from attrition (death) or choosing to quit!
@@lindastradley9788 I don't care if people want to vape on board, but smokers cause me health issues, and cigarettes can only be smoked by lighting them on fire. Fire and ships are dangerous. The fact that they allow it at all on cruise ships based on the fire hazard is beyond me. I mean we aren't talking about prohibition laws we are talking about people doing something that could cause the ship to catch fire! If people can't go that many days without a cigarette and don't want to vape then they can just not cruise. They aren't allowed to smoke in airports or on planes either. I don't care about vaping because it isn't on fire and it doesn't cause me to have asthma attacks.

I was on a Europe cruise when we were near some war games. Our captain made contact with the US navy and they agreed to allow our ship to come and sail by them. We blared patriotic music and got to wave to all the sailors who came out. It was absolutely amazing!!!🇺🇸
As an infection prevention nurse, hand gel does NOT kill the organisms causing those outbreaks. Only hand washing works. Soap and water is best!

She may have been joking but I'll guarantee there are people who think it's a great idea. I now won't use those bottles, I'll just order some to be delivered. I don't have a problem with ship water (I drink plenty of it) but I sure don't want someone else's germs.

Gone are the days when people knew their worth without posting every moment of their life to get attention from people they don’t even know. It’s kind of sad. Especially when you get banned.
ANYBODY who breaks cruise rules or female who got caught putting tap water in a the water bottle should be BANNED! Also, there should be a way for other cruise ships to get info on these people.
There is and it is called social media. Other ships might have added her to the do not sail list quietly, but not make an announcement because she wasn't on their ship.

Here's a double whammy for you for 2 of your great rants.
Last week on Emerald Princess, a guy called the lift (elevator), it arrived and we were already in it heading for a function on the ship. Anyway this guy gets in half way then continues his conversation with his friends who are outside for at least 30 seconds. With no intention of him stopping the conversation and the lift still stationary, we just got off and walked up the next flight of stairs, when we got there he was still chatting away.
So inconvenience to others with no regard for anyone else for himself, BAN HIM !😅
I won’t be drinking bottled water anymore on my cruises. I will buy a case and have it delivered to my cabin.

I was on “Rick Steves Tour” in Italy. Most all of us were retired. There were armed military personnel with armored vehicles every few blocks. Some people on the tour were horrified. I was thankful. If not for the military, we wouldn’t have been as safe.

I'm a smoker, I will never ever ever smoke on my balcony! It's dangerous and the people in cabins around me don't deserve to smell it. Go to designated areas or don't smoke. Water bottle girl deserved the ban.

Dad jokes are wonderful and you can include them in any and all your videos. Thank you. What scares me while cruising is forgetting to turn my phone into airplane mode... constantly checking to make sure I did to avoid those bills.
I agree with you. The huge bills for not turning on airplane mode need to go away. It is 2024 now not 1998. I feel bad for older people who are not very good with phones. I bet many people get a huge bill on every cruise because they are not tech savy. Tony maybe you could do a show about this issue. I think it is a huge issue. Thank you.
We have cruised over 50 times. What scares me is the possibility of getting sick. I have had the norovirus twice and the flu once. Norovirus is the worst! We still cruise, but it fear of illness enters my mind.
You would think after the whole "licking the ice cream" BS that "influencers" would know better. Tampering with the water when disease outbreaks seem to be a weekly occurrence? No way!

No offense, but the state of our world and what I see happening in my lifetime that I never realized would really happen has me on edge. It’s also opened my eyes to what the governments are doing in the name of “justice & defense” makes me leery of any military actions at this date and time.

Tony, I was in the US Navy from 1983 - 2005. We would call a day with Russian ships going to Cuba Tuesday. Not a big deal.
Those RUS ships are going to leave some cargo behind in Cuba and Venezuela. The things they leave behind will only take a few minutes to get from Cuba to D.C. So, there's that.

She should’ve got a firm talking to and warning. also, people should just check to make sure the seal isn’t broken on their drinks.

We were in a coffee drive thru line and we had someone come up and take out order in the line. the person at the window had gotten their order and left. the girl taking the orders stopped to chat with the car in front of us. so they didn't move up. they chatted for 15 mins I finally honked my horn. when I got to the window and said something every employee "screamed" at me that her grandmother had died that month. Well I understand and feel for her lose. I was late for work now and I had just lost my brother and mother all within a couple of months. Everyone has life issues

Red Dawn brings back memories. I am a photographer and myself and 9 others traveled to New Mexico a few years ago to make a photographic documentary of a town in New Mexico called Las Vegas, no not Nevada, the original. Las Vegas is where Red Dawn and a bunch of other movies and TV shows were filmed, the buildings in the movie haven't changed very much in 40 years. There is a Mural on the side of a building that was shown in the movie called the Calumet Cowgirl, it was made for the movie but is repainted and kept on the building. The Prime show Outer Range was being filmed there when we were there.

That water issue could have health/safety implications - it ain't no joke.
Methanol is cheaper and has lower emissions. At the same time, it has less energy per unit volume so a ship can't travel as far on the same volume of fuel, or it needs larger fuel tanks with methanol than traditional marine fuels.
Looking forward to the day when "green initiatives" cost less. Mostly this stuff has been marketing and slight of unsanitary hand.
If I remember right from my days in farm country, it can be made from animal poo, especially pigs'. Pig farmers who had to find somewhere to put the poo anyway have been brewing it into methane and methanol for their farm trucks for a while. Added benefit: keeps the methane produced from those sources from reaching the atmosphere.
I am familiar with Methanol used for Sprint racing cars, not so much with cruise ships. 😂

Joke or not, when we are talking about stealing from the cruise line and even more importantly an issue of public health, it’s not a joke and it’s not funny. I’m BEYOND thrilled that she’s banned. I hope they share this with every other line and RCG takes the same approach so she would be banned on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc.
Also, on the drive-thru issue, they need to get moving the second they have their order. Even 2 seconds is too long.

The wrinkle with the washing your hands advice, is that one of the most common forms of hygiene on a cruise ship is antibac. Unfortunately, antibac isn’t overly effective against something like Norovirus.

I was on the preview sailing from June 11-13. I absolutely loved the laid back vibe on the Islander. They have definitely made the ship alot nicer than the Paradise out of West Palm! Enjoy your cruise!

Norovirus is very resistant to hand sanitizer. Average viral particles are broken open by alcohol based sanitizers and become unable to infect you. Norovirus has a strong barrier that doesn’t, so it has to be removed from your hands by a good thorough washing with soap and water. This does not destroy it but removes it through friction and the action of the soap. It would be good if ship supervisors monitored their crew’s handwashing technique since that is how the Norovirus gets on passenger plates, etc. Masks help against some airborne viruses and hand sanitizer does work against many viruses, but not so much against Noro. You need to vigorously wash, sudsing up both sides of your hands, in between your fingers, and under your nails for as long as it takes you to sing “Happy Birthday” twice, then rinse.
My family and I came back from a CCL 7 day Alaskan cruise, June 4-11.
Now, we have Covid.
