    I strongly recomend watch the original song "Unda di Blood" with subtitles, I mean, the lyrics are about how he refugees in Jesus when he is with struggles, and it SLAPS xD.

    4:42 Doug is right about Bible illiteracy from the SNL cast. Keenan says he’s going to read from 1 Corinthians. As he turns the pages in the Bible. I’m pretty sure he’s in Old Testament and not even close to 1 Corinthians. Something I noticed

    So true. The skit is a very clear representation of the churches down in the Caribbean island of Dominica. Down there for 2 and a half years, and every church is like this.

    I praise God for allowing me to experience worship in many different settings. Sure, there are times when it is “off”, but the dust shakes off my sandals pretty easily, and I can love the differences in as much as they glorify God. I remember chuckling at this skit.

    Sort of unrelated, but can someone explain why some pastors refer to 1 Corinthians as “one Corinthians” as opposed to “first”? Is it because there’s other unknown letters to Corinth outside the canon?

    • @darceycarroll8307
      @darceycarroll8307 Місяць тому

      in the US & Canada it's "first, second"; "one, two Corinthians" is how our Anglican/Episcopalian friends say it (UK-derived);

      @ but why? And is it for all books? Or just Corinthians?

    • @darceycarroll8307

      @@JohnNissenIV All books. It's just how they say it. "Open your bible to Three John, chapter two". It's just a culturally-different way of saying the same thing. If they grew up in some part of the Anglican communion, that's possibly all they've ever heard

    • @JohnNissenIV
      @JohnNissenIV Місяць тому

      @ huh, that’s so interesting. I’ve heard other American pastors use that terminology, like John Mark Comer, who definitely didn’t come up in the Anglican tradition, so I wonder where it originated for someone like him.

    Let the little children come to Me, for of such is the kingdom of God. I've been places where it seems weird, but God did make a donkey talk. Grown men and women acting like sprinklers concerning God's love bring all around, is a beautiful sanctified place. As long as they love Jesus. There's places like in Africa where children and adults all dance and praise God together on hard dirt flooring. It's beautiful. The people are as one and have so much joy and happiness.

      Unfortunately you can't always avoid the plague like when you're visiting family who trailed of to this kind of "worship".
      But like always the Lord provides. After listening to the same song, "Lord we welcome You" 6 times (I counted) I thought it best to tell them that by now the Lord was definitely present. My family was upset, I wonder why 😀
      They also provided every seat with a pencil and A6 piece of paper saying, Rate the Sermon.
      This I used to write down the names of a number of Catholics the, I'll call him pastor against my better judgment, could read. Problem was how to get the paper to him but the Lord provided again. The pastor call on someone in the audience with a heart problem - the Lord apparently told him there was such a person. That was my opportunity to go forward and I could put the paper in his shirt pocket. Interestingly enough he walked around with his hand on his pocket for the rest of the time there.
      Long story but it was Wonderful how the Lord provided!

    Im not religious but I often go back to my catholic church from childhood to reflect on life, its a comfortable place. I enjoy the hymns and the incense, and the peaceful atmosphere. This channel is kind of the same, very enjoyable, Despite not believing in an omnipotent power, we align on most values. I feel that as long as I follow The Golden Rule my whole life, I'll be alright in the end- whatever that may hold.

    • @ruthalysse4096
      @ruthalysse4096 27 днів тому +2

      Thank you for sharing! The only problem is that none of us can keep the golden rule. Which of us can say that we have always treated others how we would want to be treated? The fact is, we all fall short. The Bible says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Because of God’s justice, he will punish us for our sins, and none of us can escape judgment by our attempts to do good. That’s why the gospel is such good news! Jesus lived a perfect life and died on the cross to take the punishment we deserved for our sins. He offers us forgiveness and eternal joy with him if we turn from our sin to follow him and trust in Christ’s righteousness, not our own, to save us.
