Homeless Care Packages- What I Use, My Technique To Put Them Together, & How I Give Them Out

I’ve been hesitant to post this because let’s admit, it can be scary to put yourself out there, but I recorded this video at the beginning of August and I feel it’s time to just take a leap of faith and share it!
I made this video to answer some basic questions about my Care Packages, and I just hope to inspire others to step up and help those in need.
I have always had a special place in my heart for the homeless, and even as a child I would always give to them what little I could. Every time I saw a homeless person I would wish to have some kind of package to give to them, so about a year ago I decided to stop wishing, actually take action, and start making and disbursing these Care Packages.
Over the last year I have spoken to so many souls that have just been beaten down by life. I have cried with them, prayed for them, and have never once run into someone who was ungrateful for what I had to give to them. Being homeless doesn’t mean your worthless, it doesn’t mean your a drug addict, it doesn’t mean you are no longer human! In a world so full of hate, it’s up to us to stand up and give out love to the people that aren’t lucky enough to have that in their life.
The truth is that the leading causes of homelessness are the lack of affordable housing, poverty, mental illness and unemployment, with escaping domestic violence being the leading cause amongst women. Most homeless people have little to no meaningful interaction with others, so a personal mission of mine is to always ask for their name and say it back to them because it’s likely that it’s been quite some time since they’ve even heard their name.
I give these Care Packages out and take time to converse with the homeless because I know what it’s like to not have and I know what it’s like to feel like an outsider that doesn’t belong. These packages give me purpose in life and motivate me more than anything to work harder so I can help more people in need. I wish I could make a living by giving to others, but the world doesn’t work that way so I do what I can to bring a ray of hope and happiness to those who feel like they have nothing left to live for.
I have never asked for donations and fund these packages entirely out of my own money, but if anyone would like to donate just know that your money would be going directly into the community to those in need.
$1 could cover a box of 20 antibacterial wipes.
$2 could cover a box of plastic cutlery or box of tissues.
$3 could cover a box of jerky sticks or 4 pack of fruit cups.
$4 could cover a 40 pack of water bottles.
$5 could cover a box of protein bars or box of band-aids.
$6 could cover a bag of wipes.
$10 could cover a new pair of shoes.
Anything more could cover backpacks, blankets as the fall/winter comes up, umbrellas, clothing, etc.
