Not sure that is the reason. Super glue is highly reactive, and requires stabilizers to stay in a liquid state. Moisture deactivates its stabilizers and it starts to "cure". I believe it is pulling the moisture from the PVA causing the deformations. I'm not a chemist, so just a theory. I know who would know. GOOBERTOWN... WHERE ARE YOU BRENT??
hi mate, i apply UHU glue with a toothpick, i find i can pull and string it really well. a twist with the toothpick at the end helps it to separate from the glue. also because its small i can squeeze it into tight spaces within the models immediate area. great tutorial mate.
Hearing you're going to make a painting guide for your wonderful Tyranids is brilliant! Excited to see how you achieved your unique scheme I've been airing on Instagram. Thank you for making it!
Never come across the PVA and super glue trick before, will definitely try for my nurgle models. Looking forward to your batreps with Play On. I really enjoy their videos. I don't play 40K any more (OPR are my go to rule sets) but I do like their banter, and the joy they have for the game.
This came out so cool! And your explanation made it look super easy to try out. I have been really nervous to try basing things but this gives me inspiration. Thanks!
Nice. I experimented with this kind of thing a few months ago, when I was trying to decide on a basing scheme for my Tzeentch daemons. Super glue on PVA, with little crafting dots applied and oozed over, to mimic eyeballs. I was thinking of a fleshy landscape, with human skin tones. Ultimately, while I thought it had potential, I decided it was a bit too much labor per model, and went with a different basing scheme.
Oh I have to say I love your paint scheme on the nids as well, really damn good I dont think i have seen that type of colour combo on Nids before or at least in a long time plus its insanely well done :-)
Instead if buying a texture pallete, you can basically just prime anything and use it the same way. Something with texture will work better right away, but I just primed an old cutting mat and after a few uses it starts to build up a texture as paint dries on it. Works great and costs way less!
I heard you can use a piece of cardboard to get rid of the excess paint when drybrushing. Alternatively, you can also use glossy magazine paper for a less dusty drybrush look. Thanks for the video.
Super glue is thirsty.. LOL It actually draws the moisture of the white glue to it, and "consumes" it to dry. If the air in your room is really dry, you can actually at times see the vapor.
This is incredible thank you for sharing. I'm wondering if anyone has any colour pallet suggestions for this technique as I'm a little amateur on my colour theory. I do black skin with bluey purple carapace, with bone and pink weapons and accents. Thank you so much!!
Hello I just saw your video to please please can you tell me how u did your tyranids I love to paint mine as or like yours I really appreciate it soo much and the paints u used thank you for tacking the time to read this
YES. Your 'Nids look awesome! I'm using them as inspiration for my ongoing quest of painting with brighter and more saturated colors. How long do you need to let the PVA glue set before you drop in the super glue?
I tried this the other day and it didn't work, the superglue just dried in clumps floating on the pva. Turns out that Gorilla superglue has a different chemistry to other brands. I tried Gorrilla clear and gel, and even tried thinning them with actetone, no luck. I got it to work fine with Loctite and with Bostik. It looks great! Now I just need to figure out a recipe to replicate that water effect stuff.
heya was wondering if you have any recommendations to replace super glue? :D they come in small packs and don't really wanna buy a gazillion of them to do for bases haha
Make your own texture pallet out of old bits. Glue a bunch of them to a cheap cutting board from the dollar store and fill in the negative space with coarse sand or tiny gravel. Prime it black, and use it to remove paint for drybrushing. Texture pallets are over rated and do a worse job imo.
Hi Stephanie the super glue is heavier and more dense than the PVA glue and that's what pushes it away and creates a crator
Woop there it is
Thank you!

The paintjob is really striking. Nice to see this on WHC page also!
Aw thank you. :)
Wasn't convinced at first but as the process went on it all came together superbly and combined with your nid scheme looks bloody amazing!

this is awesome and give me inspiration for my tyrannides bases
Wow great end result. I told myself that the contrast paints were too expensive.... but I had to pick up that Burgundy and a couple of other colors.
I love making awesome bases and this video is amazing!
This is a great idea, I made my entire army with bases similiar to these!
Great base design for the new leviathan boxset! Many thanks and happy hobbying!
That hivefleet scheme is so good; great tutorial!
This came out so cool! And your explanation made it look super easy to try out. I have been really nervous to try basing things but this gives me inspiration. Thanks!
i came here to ask for the tyranid painting guide so glad to hear its in the way!
Well done! Thank you for sharing. I'm just starting my miniature painting journey. Learning a lot :)
Lovley video! Great ideas for my Atropal monster base.

Nice. Now can I pull this off with my minis already glued down! 🤣

that basing is so cool.. now to find something to use that technique on
those bugs look dope!
The green webbing effect looks really good. Want to go back and add it to my death guard army now.
Very cool! I've never seen the PVA v. superglue trick AND the tyranids look sweet as hell. Thanks for sharing.
That was a really cool technique you used on this. Very nice!
Oh I have to say I love your paint scheme on the nids as well, really damn good I dont think i have seen that type of colour combo on Nids before or at least in a long time plus its insanely well done :-)
Really cool bases. Thnx for the tip.
This is great! I was doing this for my death guard but with clay and it would take a while! This is prefect
They look awesome, good job!
Great work Stephanie. Very sweet techniques. I'm definitely gonna give this a go
Glad to hear it :)
@@OrionsBeltMinisif you don't mind me asking, what's the name of the neon green ink you used? I'm definitely gonna pick that up
It’s Daley Rowney in the color light green

Interesting new techniques and effects … I’ll be blobbing and goo-ifying based from now on! 😂
Truly disgusting. Good work! Thanks for sharing!!!
Magnificent!!
audio sounds definitly one of the "trust the process" jobs i wasn't sure about it until the paint came in.
Lady, when are you planning on showing us the method used to paint those incredible looking Nids?!
They look amazing and the bases look super gross! They are perfect!
Super glue is thirsty..
LOL

Groovy!
where did you get the water effects? Loved the video, and i cant wait to try this on my tyranid bases!

wel;l that new one purting crazay glue in PVA got try it to see what does looks good see the nest vid
Still waiting for your tyranid painting guide!
These bases are deliciously creepy❤

Will you do a tutorial for the tyranid color scheme?

Cool
How did you get the Uhu glue to stay stringy and not separate?
Did you prime the base before starting?
Were you in Victoria last month?
heya was wondering if you have any recommendations to replace super glue? :D they come in small packs and don't really wanna buy a gazillion of them to do for bases haha
Would you sugest thin super glue or like gorilla super glue is fine?
The only kind I had is the standard super glue so I can’t vouch for anything thicker but I imagine thinner would work as well :)
How long time did one base take? :) sort of-isch?
It took me two days to base the entire combat patrol but that’s including drying time in between steps. It was only a couple hours of work at my desk
@@OrionsBeltMinis not that darn long then. Really nice bases :) 💪🏻💪🏻
That looks gross, awesome work😁👍🏻
It was a mistake to watch this one while eating, the result is a little *too* good
absolutely vile and nauseating, 10/10

this is WAY too slow and too much energy for one base. Use super glue and a lit cigarette done, over next base......
