    QUICK CORRECTION - There is continuous autofocus system (thank you @OhanaJohan for that) that can be locked by half pressing the shutter button. The more I'm looking into this camera, the more I'm realizing how capable it is of pro-level polaroid photography!

    Great field test!
    One little note though, this camera actually has a 3 part lens element with auto-focus so it can do .4m to infinity (if my memory is correct) you just have to lock the focus if the subject is not in the center

      Oh it does? This changes everything! Time for some more research and field tests! Thanks for the correction!

    Great to see you out with a camera again!
    And a cool camera, a bit pricey for me personally (~€700). But cool to see some new film gear comming to market. Long live film!

      Thanks, man! Yeah. It was great getting out with something fun like this. I’m working on editing my next video (should be out tomorrow) and I think you’re gonna like it!

    I am a photographer andI bought an I-2 for fun. I tried to shoot some i-type black and white in manual mode with my sekonic lightmeter set to 640 iso. The images come out almost white. What is it going wrong?

    • @JudeStreicherPhoto
      @JudeStreicherPhoto  10 місяців тому

      Man, I'm not sure. I shot a couple packs and had them waaay overexposed even when I was metering for a darker exposure than normal. I've heard their film packs are wildly inaccurate and can be anywhere between 640 and 1250. I've started just using the camera in aperture priority and dropping the exposure dial at least 2 stops down, and that seems to be helping. They still come out a bit hot, though.

    Not a huge Polaroid fan but the Boise Depot is my favorite place to go and test shoot all my new toys.

      Haha! Can't resist a good clock tower for some photo tests! Glad to meet another Boise photographer!

      Oh yeah! It's super exciting! I've been wanting to get an SX70, but I got this new one instead! So far, I'm super happy with my decision.

    It is pretty funny how the photo tech seems to be very “circular” in a sense. We’ve got the tech side ever marching forward with high res 60+ mp cameras and digital medium format, then there’s this which is just like some of the cameras I had when I was a kid. Very cool!

      I guess that old saying "what goes around comes around" is true in more than just fashion. I think it's also funny how I either like the newest tech camera or the older tech camera. Nothing in between. Thanks so much for the view and comment, my friend!

    The photos look over exposed, blown out. It is tricky to meter off bright white wall, too. Polaroid film is going to over expose the highlights and blow them out, so the meter will just be a guide. Best to use the prominent exposure compensation and just know bright white things will get totally blown out with this film unless you under expose a stop (no matter what the light meter tells you).

    • @JudeStreicherPhoto
      @JudeStreicherPhoto  Рік тому

      Man, I am definitely noticing that the more I shoot with it. Not only is it almost always over exposed, unless I dial it back at least a stop, but the film is very inconsistent. That last bit isn't necessarily the camera's fault.

    Jude, nice video ! As you experiment with this I-2 would you try using a Lens Shade ? With that lens design and getting that much flare it's got to be effecting the light meter and focus. Plus, a ND filter ? Bless 🕊

    • @JudeStreicherPhoto
      @JudeStreicherPhoto  Рік тому

      That's a good idea! Next pack, I'll try that out. Not sure if I'll be able to find an ND small enough, but I could probably hold up one of the ones I have in my kit already. Thank you for the suggestion, my friend!

      @@JudeStreicherPhotoI saw a photographer who recommended a 52mm 6stop variable ND filter with a step down ring to 49mm which is the thread on the I-2. I just ordered my I2 and it comes Monday. I’m going to give this ND setup a try if I can find one.

      Yeah, it’s a bit spendy, but we don’t shoot film to save money. Haha!
