Jobs tagged as remote - what could go wrong?
Josh, can you do a good jobs video soon?
I've done one before, but mostly they look vague and generic. You gotta get to the interview.

I got a job offer with the title "IT Specialist" when the actual job was cyber security engineer. I have over 5 years exp, degree along with a host of cyber security certs. They offered me 85k when this job with my experience pays 115k+. They were unwilling to move on the salary and said that the title " IT Specialist" couldn't be changed even though the actual job was cyber security engineering. The people who worked there all had the title cyber security engineer. I took another offer for 115k. Don't let these companies try to take advantage of you.
Any advice for someone trying to get into cybersecurity/information security?
No experience, but working on getting CompTIA Security+ at the moment and maybe Network+. in the coming months.
@@giggity3632 Dedication and interest in cyber security. Security plus is a great way to start. It's what I started with before getting more advanced certs
the crappy thing about these jobs doing this is that EVENTUALLY someone will be desperate enough to take the offer and then they're just going to slowly but surely repeat that standard til the HR department does a goody-tooshoo job of earning their stripes w/ the boss and saving him TONS of money while hiring overqualified individuals for underpaid salaries and in the long-run these companies will have a fair amount of internal complications and wonder where it all went wrong (:
Lol I had similar experience only the reverse. A reasonably big enterprise offered me a job with title of Cyber security analyst when they actually wanted a programmer who can automate and streamline their services. Obviously I didn't take it.
@@fantasyfan998 I am a IT Security Specialist at a large insurance company. Don't deal with cyber. Mainly information security, data segregation, applications, and audits. Any advice of how to become maybe an security architect. Plan on studying for the CASP. I know I know but it's a goal. CISSP maybe down the line. I do some scripting with powershell, SQL, and python. Want to build a web application so I can better understand application security, API'S, JSON web tokens. Never hear anyone talk about this much in security

That last one, the snarky clause is an ADA violation lawsuit waiting to happen.
Anyone wants to tell me that the ability to stand, use stairs, smell or taste is an essential job function of any data entry job and I will disprove by outperforming them while laying in bed using only one hand.
They secretly want ninjas
Time to update my resume: "5 years of work experience tasting and smelling."
They were indirectly rejecting differently-abled.

I've been a developer for over 20 years now. I've had people ask me if I'd be willing to take a junior developer position. I would say "Certainly! But my rate is still that of a senior developer!"
I had one guy once tell me during the interview that this was a 24 hour a day position. I said "Count me it. I'll have to charge for a 24 hour day rather than 9 hours then."
It's crazy how many companies try to take advantage of tech people because there's a presumption that we are introverted pushovers. And as for that Tyre Distribution company in the beginning, sounds like their entire development team left and now they are trying to hire ONE person to replace them... pathetic.
@@BillClinton228 i dont know if this is bs or not but ive heard that some governments try to create more jobs by forcing large companies to hire more people. So they put up ads when they already have the staff. So maybe they dont actually want to hire anyone? True story: I gave both a hiring manager, and a CEO of the company, a piece of my mind, once -- after I spent over an hour applying for their crappy job (through their terrible online portal) and after they offered to pay me half the going rate, and with no benefits for 90 days, on a phone interview. Oh, and they advertised the job as full time but in the interview said everyone starts as a contractor. I was basically like, "You guys are freaking crazy. See ya." This was during the last downturn of the economy -- some employers were really trying to take advantage of the situation.
Yeah i hate economic busts do bad because companies get really super scummy.
i dont get ppl who whine when employer wants to save money... whole idea of THEIR business is to MAKE MONEY... start ur own business and pay 100k a year to new employeers...
Get ready cause companies are already employing that same tactic due to the inevitable economic collapse from COVID.
@@jere9915 you're an idiot lol. No one is asking for $100k. Coming out of college with 1 year experience working as an intern data scientist I got offered 30k a year as a full time data scientist because the HR lady said I didn't have a masters or phd so they couldn't pay me a normal wage, I got up and left the interview
Yeah stand up to these people , so next time , they will come to their senses realising they ain't Google and will be happy with anyone with decent idea about the job.
I remember before when I was working as a Workforce Analyst for a big BPO here in my country, another company contacted me on LinkedIn with an attractive offer. In the middle of the interview, the lady said they didn't have an opening for me at the moment but they'll find one. I said, "You contacted me! I didn't contact you. I gave you the decency of replying and showing up. What the hell?" Then I just bolted out of there and went back to work. About 2 weeks later, another asshole from that company called my phone asking if I was interested in the same position. I just said, "Don't bother me. If I ever get a call from you ever again, I'm suing you for everything you've got." Never got a call again.

Low Key Fire I’m sure they’ve had that conversation before pursuing a relationship.

@@TheJumpman319 LMAO, they have openly had that conversation on at least a few videos.
I dunno if some folks haven't been paying attention to culture starting around first-wave millennials, but all in all we're a lot less interested in family and kids. Generation by generation, fewer people have families. And yet somehow this idea persists that all women only want to get married and have kids. Meanwhile half of their generation doesn't have a family of their own. Marriage kinda has a checkered history at this point. It's almost stranger to find someone who's all about that traditional marriage life... around here you have to go to a church for that.
That aside, they clearly adore each other... why do people have to be so cynical? Sour grapes? Bad past experiences? With that attitude, why bother pursuing relationships at all? Just give up on what you want, because no woman anywhere will be honest in wanting the same thing? That shit is lame. Only works as an excuse for giving up.

Find a company where the HR lady looks at you like this
HR: Hello boss, what are the requirements for the new positions?
BOSS: Yes!
Having worked at a garbage dev job, doing 3 different job in one, I wish found your channel in 2017. Totally learned about that the hard way. But I'm definitely in a better place now. I really appreciate what your doing Josh!
I've been searching for a new job recently and one vacancy had a requirement called "data entry & keyboarding skills"
Uh Oh, watch out.
I feel Josh and HR are doing the Lord's work here. There's truly some garbage job postings out there with the vast majority of them not grasping what 'entry level' is or what seems like a little bullet point is actually someone else's $60k+ a year job to do right. "You are good with computers right? You should be able to update my database and color grade my raw video footage no problem! Oh and make sure the designs for my tshirts and social media strategy are done by tomorrow. And all my SEO."
When you have a restaurant or a tire shop looking to hire a developer, what they're really trying to do is create a relatively simple website or application without signing an expensive contract with a company that specializes in providing these services. There will likely only be one of you, so all the responsibility will be on you. Furthermore, they have no idea what to expect out of you, which means if you don't meet their skewed expectations (I use "skewed" euphemistically), then they'll let you go before your project is completed without pay.
It's a huge risk for these employers as well because their own ignorance invariably increases the risk (and frustration) over the potential failure of the project(s) they have in mind. It would be better for those employers to look for a senior developer, somebody who has enough experience to reduce the risk of failing to complete the project, and somebody who will be able to complete the project in less time due to their advanced experience, so that the project gets completed at a high level of quality for roughly the same cost overall.
You shouldn't try to mange your own development without knowing the process any more than you should try starting a reno without ever having lifted a hammer, or try to troubleshoot your car without knowing how to change a tire. I think these garbage jobs should be seen as the product of garbage management, and garbage management needs to be exposed for the increasing costs they are imposing on society.

I don't know how to find job as junior dev, because everyone wants experienced developer working for food.
1:30 I never understood why hiring managers put out ads with such specific requirements. When you're hiring a driver, you don't put an ad out saying "5+ years experience driving a left-hand drive 2.4 litre 2012 Toyota Corolla. Must also have experience driving green Nissan Jukes" and such. They just want someone who's pretty good at driving cars.
Exactly the same thing when hiring programmers. You don't need someone who's an expert with Angular 2, Subversion and Vim. You want someone who has some experience in a few programming languages (hopefully the one your team uses), with a fairly broad knowledge of technologies relevant to you.
Ahh, dealing with people who have no idea what they're doing or just how much skill, time and work these things take to do. I would be very impressed if there is a real person who is an expert in UIX design, graphic design, front end, back end, database, marketing, data analytics, data analysis, business intelligence analysis, data science, machine learning, deep learning, aeronautical engineering, rocket design, satellite design, nuclear reactor design, structural engineering, finite element analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, etc... There is probably a job listing somewhere looking for all of those things for 40k/year.
Actually, no salary. They will pay in equity, a pathetic 1% of the company, but only once you have done all the work and delivered the big project that they need but lack the skills to do themselves. Meanwhile the CEO will own over 51% after doing nothing to make a product and not understanding how any of it works.

the title of this video is misleading. it actually shows you how to spot if a girl is in to you
You should see the unedited cut. But that's on my only fans.
Videos like this are so important because I'm always finding positions that sound ridiculous/impossible and I'm not sure if I'm right about that or if I just dont know what I'm doing. It's good to see someone more experienced than me putting this stuff into perspective.
(this comment goes out to all the internships that require years of experience and a degree)
I just want to make note to everyone that you all should get, and you all deserve, someone who looks at you like the girl looks at Joshua.
Josh, this video is so funny! I love these videos. Thanks for posting this. Also thanks for including HR with this as well.
"Remote while COVID-19 then on-site" -- that's garbage. I've proved to you I can do the work one hundred percent remote so what makes you think I'll be commuting to Beeswax, Virginia once the pandemic is over. GTFO
You both have great chemistry in the video. Loved it.
