We used to soak chicken livers in milk for at least an hour. Then throw them into a bag with flour and seasoning, then fry them in oil until done/crispy.....very delicious.
Have you tried adding Marsala wine half way through cooking? After it flames up turn it way down with a lid for a couple minutes. Your method becomes a 4 star meal for 50 cents.
I don't see how any non-vegetarian/vegan could dislike liver. The combination of the soft texture and soft nuttiness/gaminess of the flavor is, to me, luxurious.
Sam you and your sons are a HOOT! I tried your recipe today (even thought you posted 2015). My twist was fry bacon first and then pretty much followed every think else. Didn't cut out the white strings but added a little equal incase the case was bitter (it wasn't). Love your sense of humor. My wife liked your recipe as well so I didn't have to wait for her to leave town to make the dish (LOL). Keep the great attitude and recipes coming.
I eat liver when I have a hankering for liver..... that means I want the taste of liver. Surprise, I also eat intestine when I get the hankering for the taste of intestine. Can you imagine eating intestine and not getting to taste it? WTF dude.
I laughed heartily when you felt compelled to explain the "TV GUIDE", and the difference between that and NOT what they might see on the television! But then again, I'm 61.
This reminds me of the times me and my dad cooked together. Good times, thanks for an amazing video. Subscribed for sure. Good to relive happy memories. Me and my dad loved to eat chicken livers. I will have to try this recipe one day soon.
I LOVE chicken livers! My now ex-wife never allowed me to cook them in the house if she was home, so I always waited until she was at work. I never added onions, pepper, or anything else that you did, but now that I'm divorced, I am DEFINITELY going to throw down and try this recipe.
This is an old video, but I've literally been laughing till crying watching it. I'm cooking livers for my husband and needed a recipe. I am also ready to gag. I love The Cooking Guy!!!!
I adore chicken liver! I'm not a real fan of beef liver but chicken livers are so delicate and tastey, I cook mine with thinly sliced onions, no peppers, and chopped garlic, dredge them in flour and fry them in a little butter and oil and I add soy sauce at the end and put on rice, give it a try!!! Forget about it!😋 I bet you would love it! And no siracha will change the taste! My opinion of course!😂😂😂
Being from the south, we ate chicken livers often. Slathered in ketchup and hot sauce. I still like them this way, but was searching for a different way to cook them when I found your channel. I will be cooking this dish today. Great show, very entertaining to watch.
I've been eyeballing some chicken livers in my local market, but have never cooked them before. This looks perfect and am going to give it a try tomorrow. For the uninitiated, the liver is our bodies natural detox system along side the kidneys. You do not need to do any kind of detox remedies as our bodies are already equipped with two perfectly good organs that do that already. Chicken livers are also densely packed with a ton of nutrients including thiamin, zinc, copper, and manganese, as well as folate, riboflavin, selenium, and B12. They're among the most nutritionally dense meats you can eat, along with most other organ meats. Well done, Sam. Just subbed to your channel. Also your kitchen is amazing.
I grew up in South Africa, with the Portuguese influence from Mozambique. Chicken livers in peri peri sauce is fantastic. Tonight I am making chicken liver pizza. I do not care for beef liver much. Chicken livers are a whole different world of taste.
Two cameramen and they can't focus in on cleaning the livers. Your son does a great job of showing your hands while cleaning the livers and the other cameraman gives a long distance shot of the same thing. Thanks a hell of a lot.
Lol i see unique people who are brave in the heart, and then i see "hipsters" who wear the clothes of what they think looks brave but internally theyre retarded.
I graduated in the class of 77 too. When I was in high school I worked as a dishwasher and they let the staff eat just about anything we wanted for free and as much as you wanted depending on what it was. Then was the first time I had chicken livers, I ate the whole quart. Always looked forward to eating some more. Bought some tonight.

Dang! We just finished dinner. Weekend guests coming that would never go for this, but first thing next week it'll be on the table! How nice to have a meal on the table in just a few minutes. Lovein' it! Alice
I have finally found chicken livers at Publix. The pandemic has made it very difficult to find. This preparation is close to how I fix mine. Kudos about stating they can be cooked just pink, they are horrible if you overcook them. I've never tried green peppers, only onion, I will give this recipe a try. Thanks for taking on a relatively unpopular food.
Notice Sam cleaning & picking up food off the floor. He does not wash his hands and continues to cook his prepoisoned germ infected food with his filthy hands. And no gloves!
When I was in grad school I would fry up a bunch of liver the night before an important test or defense. The blast of vitamins and protein makes you think so much clearer and faster the next day. Anyway how does such a beautiful kitchen have a raw concrete floor? :)
Thought the chicken liver recipe from 8 years ago was brilliant. I’m trying to replicate some of my Dad’s old recipes with liver mush & liver pudding & think I have those down. I plan to try your recipe as is, but with r/o/y peppers. Then I want to try it with corn & buttermilk, because I have people that don’t eat peppers.
Not a little pink, alot pink chef. Add some tumeric, cayenne and celery salt with the s n p . Remember you can safely eat liver raw. So don't overcook. Start with some bacon as well
As I TOTALLY understand that some people would be absolutely GROSSED OUT by chicken livers, once cooked and seasoned, they can be VERY good! In fact, it's on mf my favorite parts of the chicken! I do love chicken livers. I like that some people are grossed out by chicken livers, that just means, MORE FOR ME!!!! .... NICE job Sam!!!!
I enjoyed watching ya'll, and you guys are REAL, lol! The next best thing to actually being there in your kitchen with ya'll, I can practically smell how good it all is! Thank you for sharing this, I love chicken liver, and it's actually good for you as long as not consumed on a too frequent basis. Fun to watch! :D
Looks delicious ! I just made liver and onions with ketchup this week ....so delicious and they are good for your eyes as well !!! I like your squirt bottle! Where did you get it?
There was a great movie called The Sunset Limited where basically a Good Samaritan living in a ghetto played by Samual L Jackson and an atheist university professor played by Tommy Lee Jones argue the existence of god in a little kitchen the whole movie. Anyway Samuel goes on a tangent about cooking and how anyone can make a porterhouse steak taste good but it takes a real cook to make the innards taste good. This video reminds me of that scene.
Lol at everyone criticizing this video. Obviously they are doing a different style of video. Plus, at the end of the day it's UA-cam. It's for entertainment, people don't always need to be professional. I really thought the dynamic of the son, dad and the camera man was brilliant, personable and welcoming to me. Made me feel like I was hanging out in a kitchen while my friend's dad cooks and shoots the shit with us or something. Bf and I are trying to get liver in our diet so we were looking for recipes. We don't do dairy so we wont be using this one. BUT, I watched the whole video anyway since y'all were so entertaining :D earned my sub!!
add sliced Serrano peppers and sliced white mushrooms along with the onion, green peppers and cream is like heaven. I was waiting for you to add those to this.
I'm sure to be one of the many who saw this video and WILL TRY IT!! I'm shopping online for grocery pick-up in the am and simply wanted to try something other than chicken, beef or fish for one of next week's meals. Years ago I'd made livers and onions in the broiler, served over rice and they were delicious, I remember! Don't know about the hubby at the time, but I liked them. SO, seeing as you used the Sanderson livers, I'm for sure going to pick up a tub AND look for the white rice tub as well....I'm all for tubs of this and tubs of that! Get my onion and green pepper and a carton of cream but I'll use my white cooking wine along with the Worcheshire sauce, but skip the other ingredient (have a difficult time with the spelling). Great fun video, BUT. If you haven't done livers since the 80's, then you don't know livers. They are not lean, and are healthy only when cooked with mostly non fatty items. Can the cream and use flour and broth. More veggies cooked in butter and reduced to limp. Powder on some flour and add chicken broth. Same end result but healthier. Always serve with mashed potato.
Those are some expensive livers. I pay a third for them in Europe. My grandmother used to make a chicken soup using the innards, bones and the eggs inside the chicke that havent been laid. Just a bit of salt, no extra fat, and add a type of pasta that's shapped like tiny stars. It was my go to food for when I got sick, maybe because the liver has so many vitamins to help fight infections
I love chicken livers too delicious.Best is ıf you cook them on a iron with lines on it.Just like steak .And inside is still soft and outside is cooked just lşek medium rare steak.
😂🤣 Just came across ur channel looking for chicken liver recipes…killin me over here w the comments😂 I needed the laughs on this depressing New Years Day. Stay safe and blessed in 2022!
I hope that's a boning knife you are using because that's what I'm going to buy! I hope I can make quicker work of chicken livers than I've done so far.
love your videos Sam....i have been following you for a long time.....every recipe I have made of yours has been spot on. Can I sub the vermouth or do i have to use it?
We used to soak chicken livers in milk for at least an hour. Then throw them into a bag with flour and seasoning, then fry them in oil until done/crispy.....very delicious.

Mel Lyons lmaooooooo I thought I was the only one dying about the my wife comments
Bacon with chicken livers is everything! Forget about it!😋
Tip: Put the Liver in a bowl of water and ice while your cutting them up. It will prevent that harsh Liver taste that nobody likes.
yes but soaking in milk is better
I eat liver when I have a hankering for liver..... that means I want the taste of liver. Surprise, I also eat intestine when I get the hankering for the taste of intestine. Can you imagine eating intestine and not getting to taste it? WTF dude.
@@-o-The-Duke-o- LOL!
I soak in milk for 24 hours. But will try ice water

Ok, had a little trouble getting by the towel being used on the floor then right back on the counter, but this was a really good recipe.
Yes, same here 😳
This was sooo good. Will definitely make again. Thanks for sharing.
Being from the south, we ate chicken livers often. Slathered in ketchup and hot sauce. I still like them this way, but was searching for a different way to cook them when I found your channel. I will be cooking this dish today.

This the funniest cooking I saw. I really enjoyed the casual style. Good finale. Keep it up!
Clean the floor with the towel, clean hands with same towel and continue cooking. Lol

I didn't try liver until I was in my 30's. I'm so made - all those years I could have been eating it! Try it.
I graduated in the class of 77 too. with mushrooms - yes !
I know this is two years old but... YUM! Sounds good and I’m gonna do the same 😀
Mushrooms! That's a definite plus!
I will absolutely try this. I love using ingredients that are usually thrown out and make them taste great. It is truly and art form.

I would try this with Marsala instead of Vermouth.
Leave out vermouth and whit rice, use Jalapenos , Use ghee, And I would probably love it.

Haha! Great video, guys. Adding cream is a new one for me, but I’ma give it a try.

I would add a little white wine.
Love Chicken Liver !!!!
I’ve made this twice and neither of those times disappointed 🙏🏼

I'm watching this in 2024. This episode is described as being from "9 years ago." I wonder if Sam gets recent comments on older shows. Does he?
Sheesh, don’t play with them, just cook them 😂
