Would it be weird to say that whenever I begin to drift away from myself and forget who I am, I see this and remember instantly what I love and the person I'll always be? probably right? I love this song. Thank you for your beautiful music. I'll be watching this throughout my life.
I was taken to a Jason Mraz concert and didn't realize she was the opening for him. When they told me who was the opener i was so excited to see her play. Unfortunately, it was full of teeny-boppers who had no clue who she was and just talked and complained during her whole set. I was so pissed. I made sure i bought her cd there and fell in love with this song. Everytime i watch this video i fall in love with her. Sorry for this little rant/story, but i wanted to share so...
It's impossible to multitask while listening to Lisa sing. Everytime I put one of her songs on, I have to watch her sing it so I can get hypnotized once again.
The muted trumpet is largely what makes this song for me. It gives the song such additional character and emotional depth. I, like others, come back and listen to this periodically, and always feel drawn to it. One of their best IMHO.
What IS it about her voice? I want to make a scientific study of it. My eyes roll up into my head, and I'm like a dog that's being scratched at just the right spot behind the ear. Hypnotic. I think there is something of the fey in her: The natural, unconscious grace (that somehow almost seems shy and even nerdy at times), staggering talent, that siren voice, those wonderful songs, and even her looks seem to defy description. She approaches the ethereal. Cripes, I sound like I'm 15 again.
THIS is what real music is made of, Talent married to Sentiment and multiplied by Authenticity with a generous dollop of the pure succulence that is Lisa...
She is brilliant...I mean it's so emotional. She is so beautiful when she sings the way she moves and the voice (no words)... I know it's a pretty long shot, but I hope I will see her one evening in Greece, or if the fates let me in a gig in the UK, so I can appreciate the live performance of it...
I love the contagious smile that they all seem to struggle to not show and stay focused on the music. Its great, I love true happiness and joy where you have to force yourself to hide a smile. I want to hang out with every single one of them, but especially (and of course) Lisa.
Sit down and fire away, I know it's tricky when you're feeling low, When you feel like your flavor Has gone the way of a pre-shelled pistachio, I know you're weighed down You're fed up with your heavy Your boots Laced with melancholy notion's all you own I do, like sugar, tend toward the brittle and sticky when spun And I know my demeanor Has gone the way of a photo left out in the sun, So I try to keep myself in lillies and flax seeds, Oh what a folly- fooling just yourself Sit down and smoke away,I wouldn't knock it till you're in them shoes Oh watch as ours subtlety blows away as a blusher gives way to a bruise, But seemly, we'd freely make a trade-off A dry rot to take the weight off Swap the boots for red shoes
someone once said: "I went to see Jason Mraz. I was looking forward to it for a few months. I knew there was this Lisa Hannigan but I didn't know anything more than her name. I was absolutely blown away by her performance. I left happily right when she finished. I was pretty sure that Jason couldn't offer me half of what this precious lady did..."
I came to see Lisa sing "Pistachio" live. I was pleasantly surprised to see her getting down down as well! Whoa. Be still my heart! How old is this video? 12 years or something!? And it still rocks!
I can't believe the people that don't like the way she is now compared to the Rice days. She always used to look so depressed, but here... She positively shines.
@mallzark I bought tickets for a Mraz show she opened for not knowing she was opening. Fourth row seats. I left after her set. How could Mraz ever follow these people???? I've been a super fan of every one of them ever since.
I recognized her because of Demian Rice. I'm a big fan of him, the more I listen to his sons, the more I'm curious about her. It's my first time to listen to her music such detaily, and I'm feeling that I've never felt from any singers... I don't know how to explain her voices. I'm shocked in a good way.
She's not drunk or high on drugs. Just enjoying singing with her great friends. The reason they are all smiling is Tomo (the drummer) cute little kids were coming in and out of the room. Just having a great time, that's all.
I don't know them and was not there personally but there was another video taken the same day with a mix of these videos that showed them playing with the kids who I believer were Tomo's kids because of another video. Lisa also says she in an interview that she doesn't drink before performances because she had done that once a long time ago and felt that it hurt her performance. Just tying info together. Just watch any video I can get a hold of Lisa and her performances. She is brilliant.
makin me tear up, hahaha. your so right.... on second thought, Bradley Nowell of Sublime was always really happy singing. but he was also really high or drunk...
@mallzark I have to admit, I went to see Jason Mraz before I'm yours was released and it was amazing. Then I went just after it had been released and it was full of 14 year olds who were only there for that one song. I definitely can relate!
@Kokkette I met her at a gig in Brighton last week. She was so lovely, absolutely beautiful and I was so nervous. She signed the setlist for me and I just blurted out, "Can I have a hug please?" and she gave me a hug. Made my life :D
... and 15 years later, it's still the most beautiful piano I've ever heard
Whatever vibe Lisa was in on this day, makes me want to live there forever.
Would it be weird to say that whenever I begin to drift away from myself and forget who I am, I see this and remember instantly what I love and the person I'll always be? probably right? I love this song. Thank you for your beautiful music. I'll be watching this throughout my life.
I hope you are still there after 3 years so you can come back and listen to it again 😊

ive seen her a few times in dublin, every jig you could hear a pin drop, the crowd was so captivated...
The muted trumpet is largely what makes this song for me. It gives the song such additional character and emotional depth. I, like others, come back and listen to this periodically, and always feel drawn to it. One of their best IMHO.
edge845 still feels like the first time I’ve heard this, lisa hannigans music will be with me forever

her vocals always blow me away with every live song
Something about her voice just makes me better whenever I'm down. She has such a gentle touch. Perfect Voice.
lisa's voice sounds soo angelic and pure, i wish i was in that lovely pub when she sings
It is rare to see someone look truly happy singing when there a popular artist. I definitely see she is super happy
12 years later. I'm now no longer a pistachio. Thank you Lisa.
I can't stop replaying it over and over.
The level of character in this whole song and vid is classss

Wow 15 xears later and this is still one of my favorite songs of all time, simply incredible
❤ Lisa you are an Angel that fell from the sky ❤
Heard this in Amsterdam airport before flying to Japan. It was stuck in my head all holiday. Certainly made me walk with a bounce in my step.
Sit down and fire away, I know it's tricky when you're feeling low,
When you feel like your flavor
Has gone the way of a pre-shelled pistachio,
I know you're weighed down
You're fed up with your heavy
Your boots
Laced with melancholy notion's all you own
I do, like sugar, tend toward the brittle and sticky when spun
And I know my demeanor
Has gone the way of a photo left out in the sun,
So I try to keep myself in lillies and flax seeds,
Oh what a folly- fooling just yourself
Sit down and smoke away,I wouldn't knock it till you're in them shoes
Oh watch as ours subtlety blows away as a blusher gives way to a bruise,
But seemly, we'd freely make a trade-off
A dry rot to take the weight off
Swap the boots for red shoes

I came to see Lisa sing "Pistachio" live. I was pleasantly surprised to see her getting down down as well! Whoa. Be still my heart! How old is this video? 12 years or something!? And it still rocks!

I can't believe the people that don't like the way she is now compared to the Rice days. She always used to look so depressed, but here... She positively shines.

I remember reading a comment on this video years ago that said it was the best four minutes of that person's life...
I recognized her because of Demian Rice. I'm a big fan of him,
