- Nov 30th-Dec 1st was the opening debut for Woodstown Central Ex US Army 0-6-0 #9. Built in 1942, the engine worked for the US Army and was no stranger to New Jersey. The engines early life worked for Fort Dix before going to other locations before being retired from the Military in 1958. 9 eventually worked for New Hope & Ivyland in the 60's and worked occasionally til 1981. SMS Rail Lines bought 9 in 2009 and after a 14-15 year restoration, the engine was completed and debuted at the Woodstown Central. We visited Woodstown Central on Dec 1st. During the visit, SMS GP38-3 2003 was put on the north end to shorten runaround time. Eventually after opening weekend, the engine was taken toward the wye near Salem to face 9 north and the engine now runs solo for the rest of the operating season. Come along as we follow #9 and 2003 on the Santa Trains in Southern New Jersey. Enjoy!
