- An all-nighter attempt to see the development of mandarin dragonet eggs, this time for about 10 hours - from the very first cell division to the point where they are clearly chordates.
I hope to get all the way to a swimming prolarva stage, but it may yet require a more complicated setup and upkeep.
Taken on a Zeiss Axioplan 2 imaging microscope with a 5x objective in brightfield. Hot air gun on low on the bottom of the stage to keep it warm, 100-150uL of RODI added each hour (in about three portions) to compensate for evaporation, shot in a cell culture slide with a 3d printed plastic piece to keep the eggs in frame. One frame every six seconds.
