Well said. I stream Smallville and I had a hard time watching the scenes where Clark and Lana repelled each other. I‘m almost at the end of the series (just started the 10th season), but I’m still having a hard time watching the final kiss between Lana and Clark...
…but you have to admit that what Clark and Lois have is (much) better than that what Clark and Lana had.

Smallville came out the year after I graduated. I was stuck around my hometown sorta waiting on my girl yet who was an underclassman. Our relationship to me felt much like Lana and Clark’s whereby there was real burning passionate desire, but also every odd stacked against us, and everyone stacked against us. We ultimately failed, like Lana and Clark despite it being the closest thing to real I’ve yet understood in my life. And in the end she might’ve well married Lex, cause what’s the difference? There was something about Smallville though that sort of encapsulated what love was like back then, it was a definite time of cultural transformation, and only now, in 2024 are we sort of waking up from the hangover that sort of came about and was birthed through the propaganda process of the Y2K era. I watched Smallville even after leaving my own Smallville and marching on with life, and it never let me escape the feelings I had and the experience I lived with my own Lana in my own Smallville. I wonder if it’s only people my age that look at these clips now and feel like it was just like this then.
