[LW] 225 kHz - Polskie Radio 1, Solec Kujawski - news & maintenance shutdown, Sep 27 2021

News, sports, weather and an excerpt of an ad break leading to scheduled transmitter shutdown from Polish Radio 1st programme (Jedynka) LW transmitter Solec Kujawski on 225 kHz, at 06:00-06:10 UTC Sep 27th, 2021.
PR1 audio was muted mid-ad-break at 06:10, and transmitter went off air at 06:14:10 UTC.
This began a 2-week-long maintenance at the transmitter site, which is scheduled to finish at 17:00 UTC Sunday Oct 10th. DAB+ service from the same site will be off daily at 06:00-17:00 UTC from Sep 26th until Oct 10th, 2021.
Meanwhile, DXers acoss Europe are encouraged to try receiving Mongolia on 227 kHz at this rare opportunity of 225 Poland off the air.
This is the only remaining public/state AM radio service in Poland as the other longwave site in Raszyn ceased to exist as a LW tx site in 2008, and Polish Radio's rubbish shortwave transmitter near Warsaw closed in Oct 2006. Mediumwave network was shut down already on Feb 1st, 1998.
Solec Kujawski is also the only transmitter site directly owned and operated by Polish Radio. They took further advantage of this fact in Nov 2015 when they launched a DAB+ multiplex from the site. It is the only DAB+ transmission in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship, and it is affected by the maintenance too, meaning those few listeners who use it will have to switch back to FM.
Recorded in NE Poland, at 308 km away from the transmitter, using an Airspy HF+ Discovery and a trial 7.5x3m Conti SuperLoop, unfortunately with little side null to the West on LW as I only use a fixed 1000 Ohm terminating resistor...

To akurat SDR Console, ale zależnie od SDRa możesz użyć też SDR#, SDRuno, HDSDR, SDR++.

They have approx. 12 khz bandwith, almost FM quality! It produces local level signal here during the night.

Longwave sounds clearer than medium or short wave. Too bad it hasn't been used as extensively.

Well, sounds like FM. So I a long time ago I don't listen LW and MW, but now, when I saw this video, I am interesting now. Btw, earlier PR1 on news don't have any sponsors, why now they have? xdd

Well my listening recently was predominantly on SW, and some MW. FM Es was just very poor. But now I'm picking up :)
It's not the news that are sponsored, this is prohibited by law. Traffic updates, sports news & weather are sponsored on most of the stations. Yes, it's true that our "public" radio used to accept sponsorship of these items very rarely up until 2020 or so, but this had definitely changed. Well, they are trying to commercialize more 🙂
