  • The Battle of Evesham, fought on 4 August 1265 near the town of Evesham, saw Simon de Montfort, the powerful Earl of Leicester and leader of the rebellious barons, face off against Prince Edward, the future King Edward I, and his father King Henry III's forces. De Montfort, who had previously controlled the royal government, found himself on the defensive after the defection of key allies and the escape of Prince Edward.

Dude, 2 to 1 advantage on good defensive ground. And Montfort charged right up the middle without unit cohesion.
It took one simple flanking move and a blocking force to win. Mortimer charging from behind with a force equal to Montfort's was his own initiative.

It'd a waste if Mortimer didn't shout "To the King!" whilst riding down the rear of De Montfort's rear division.

It is Simon de MontFORT, Old French did not drop the final consonant/they were not silent like modern French. Likewise it is AgincourT not core.
Henry III had to reissue Magna Carta but like his father John he was not a strong king.

Well done lad! Demontfor lost his genitals that day along with his head! Edward l didn't make the same mistakes his father did by ignoring his nobles pleas for more control over the treasury & who the King indulged at court. The Scots were a good target for Edward to place his aggression. That and a crusade.

These days, normal tra -sh loves to wage war, but they love playing the victim even more. Back in the day, normal people simply fought to dispatch as many of each other as they could and didn't care if they didn't make it themselves. I support this channel.
