I bought some EL wire a while back, while having a clear out I rediscovered it. It didn't age well, dimmer now it seems but still kinda cool. That said, it could just be my memory failing rather than the EL wire.
Temu or local E/bay i use bought a 1080p trailcam from temu au $55 with a 32gb sdd card delv looks good for the price
been A few chitty cheap products u stay away from is Endoscope and cheap spy type Cams they never work in 1080p or apps wont work most are just fail Junk
TEMU knows me well, I'm as bad as you Paul.....:) I have five orders I'm waiting for.
Silly question Paul. Did you power it off and on again with the dongle connected ?
Did you try and reboot the printer after you plugged in the WiFi dongles ? Just a thought.
I did. The dongles aren't really the problem. Makerbase and Elegoo have used a really bare bones Linux distribution called Armbian. One of the things they do to make it fit in small embedded systems is install only the absolute minimum of drivers. Which is generally not a problem. You can use the built in package manager (apt or another) to just grab the rest of the drivers you need from the cloud. But there is no package manager. So, you kinda gotta fire a large volley of shots and see which one hits. Another problem is the dongle manufactures change chips but dont change product numbers. So your xyz2239 wifi dongle might have a qrz1227 chipset when you buy it in the spring. But buy it again and the pruduct number remains xyz2239 but now the chip set is a iby6653. Just no way to know but to buy a few and see what works.
If you have seen my videos on the other printers I have, like Qidi Tech X Max, it has a working dongle installed on the board from the factory. Elegoo could have gone this route, but they were looking to get in under $300 when they designed this thing, probably 2 years ago. The newer Nep4 Max has a built in dongle. Same main board. 2 years later.
@@learnelectronics Oh, like I said, just a thought. As for the manufacturers changing the chipsets in WiFi, they do the same with Bluetooth dongles too. I have 3 BT USB stick from the same place and all 3 look identicle but have slightly different specs. LOL.
It's hard to believe it's been about 25 years since I first discovered EL wire while at Burning Man.
People were using it in all kinds of art there and I ordered a few kits to get started with the stuff after I returned to civilization.
It was really expensive back then. Just the battery driver box similar to yours was over $20 bucks back then.
I had thought about routing a channel in an electric guitar body to hold the EL wire to make a cool stage guitar but wasn't sure the high frequency power supply wouldn't cause problems bleeding into the audio chain.
Here we are decades later and lit up guitars have been done by others although I still don't think I have seen El wire in any of them.
Ill do an experiment. I wont cut into a guitar, but Ill hold it close!
You forgot the blinky light seizure warning
i have bought a few power strips from them so far all good
The EL light: Is it really a wire that glows or a glass/plastic fiber with an LED on the end? A LIGHT PIPE?
☮ brother.
Electroluminescent wire (often abbreviated as EL wire) is a thin copper wire coated in a phosphor that produces light through electroluminescence when an alternating current is applied to it. It can be used in a wide variety of applications-vehicle and structure decoration, safety and emergency lighting, toys, clothing etc.-much as rope light or Christmas lights are often used. Unlike these types of strand lights, EL wire is not a series of points, but produces a continuous unbroken line of visible light. Its thin diameter makes it flexible and ideal for use in a variety of applications such as clothing or costumes.
@@learnelectronics
The battery holder must be an AC source then. 🤔
@@bblod4896 Not necessarily. It could be a PWM signal. They are definitely high voltage and you can hear the high frequency whine coming from the battery operated power supplies I have for EL wire.
@@learnelectronics how does EL Wire's power consumption compare to LED?
@@bblod4896 Yep, 400 Hz
There is no software in the printer to run a dongle, any dongle.
If you are talking about the Nep4 Pro, I believe you are mistaken. May I direct you to @MandicReally who has successfully done the operation, as well as @makerbase who have designed the board and explain how to do it.
I'm not saying it can't be done, it just won't work without modifications, a much simpler way is to just use a wireless adaptor The printer needs a DNS so just use something like this DHMXDC Wireless-N 300Mbps WiFi Range Extender Wireless Router/Repeater/AP/WPS Mini Dual External Antennas Wireless Booster Signal Wireless Access Point
Oh ok, I'll look into that. Thanks
That EL wire is something ive been thinking about putting on FPV drones... not bad for the price!
anything from the outfit is junk.
This is my sad face. You cant see it though. Im busy playing with TEMU goodies! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA jackass
