Hey, this has become one of my all time favorites...I’m an older dude too (50). Saw them in New Orleans few years ago during pre high country. I still remember hearing “tears of diamonds”. Figured that would be huge. Lawless lands has some killer moments, anyone else’s thoughts?
@@JB-mc1blyes, the vocals are fucked up and thats the message of the music xD its like thrash metal but its stoner. If you really need sword singing you can go for" low country".
The mic was too low… if it was higher than his head he would be looking up which is a more natural singing position But I also feel while his singing is alright it lacks a little emotion which I feel is what makes a singer good
@@number8pencil perfect analogy. Knowing that I love "Freya" by Sword and almost all of Clutch. Would you recommend any other bands that are super similar?
@seniscram check out Gojira especially Stranded and Pray. Those songs are incredible. Sleep by Dragonaut is very similar style. And you can never go wrong with Pantera's I'm Broken. A History of Bad Men by The Melvins. Check out Metal Mac Attack playlist on Spotify.
@@number8pencil Saw them open for Clutch twice. Once in Charlottesville and earlier in Richmond. Both bands were great, though I went to see the Sword. Am a wee bit old but actually started a mosh pit in Richmond. Not intentionally. Asked a dude jumping around in front of me to calm down a little. He didn't listen and almost knocked my wife over. With me being on the right side of the size spectrum he was propelled a fair distance. Knocked into another guy who got perturbed and also sent him flying. Right away he turned into a human pinball and a mosh pit developed. Starting a mosh pit is one for the bucket list.
I don't know. Sounds more like he wasn't take good care of his voice, and he's straining it pretty hard here. I definitely miss their earlier sound though.
That's the challenge of touring - not wrecking your voice after multiple nights in a row on the road, getting little sleep and eating bad food. This is from 2011 - agreed, the vox can't compete with the thunder coming from the monster riffs. Last time I caught the Sword, JD's vocals had some chorus and/or delay in the live show, and it definitely gave it the fullness it deserves, complementing the riffage at volume. 3:27 mark in Freya is so sick! Viva la sword!!!

I was at this show. Opeth followed them and Akerfeldt dropped his guitar as soon as he got to the stage. Simpler times!
Badass
I saw these guys in Saint Louis in 2004 (or 2005?), opening for Trail of Dead. The Sword absolutely stole the show. Still one of the best riffs ever.
I played this song a lot on Guitar Hero 2👽🤘
Where I first heard song, also guilty of playing on guitar hero..lol
my favorite song of burnout dominator from ps2 2006 i ove this song so much
Damn would love to see them live
I didn’t want that to stop
Figures I’ve fallen in love with these guys. Silverburst LP custom😂🤘
So badass to hear more bass
DUDE!!!
Que som foda!!! 🇧🇷 The Sword! 🤘
Everyone hating on the vocals. Let’s be honest here...these guys are a guitar players band. Nobody listens to the sword for the singing.
It sucks the energy out of the performance. Kinda like Mastodon when they play live.
If you're into doom metal for the vocals I question your sanity.

Exactly 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 even Jimi Hendrix said he'd " yippie skippie " sometimes with the lyrics just to get to playing the guitar
the drummer is fkn bad ass !!!
0:24 tho🤤 so badass!
As hard as it gets 🤘
Excellent
Eargasm 🔥🥵🤘🏻
God damn... just... God damn...
Our band got to open for these guys in Denver on their first tour, amazing band.
This is so damn awesome
I love The Sword but I wish J D would work on his vocal chops and learn to get close to the mic.
I think it makes his singing kinda cool
Tbh I think the performance would’ve been better as an instrumental
The mic was too low… if it was higher than his head he would be looking up which is a more natural singing position
But I also feel while his singing is alright it lacks a little emotion which I feel is what makes a singer good
These guys kick fucking ass!
They came in a time machine after being in woodstock😅
This is some meaty shit
This band sounds awesome. They remind of CLutch a little bit. Do you all agree?
If Clutch and Sabbath had a love child.

Nothing like Clutch. Not even their first 3 albums.

finally found band Priestess got their sound from.
No mainstream \m/
the voice is so much worse but stil good performance
JD's vocals are absolutely horrible here.
Its like he's not trying at all.Massive disappointment.

Probably can’t hear himself I have the same problem
@@tommorris2771 He can't hear himself because he's like 6 feet away from the mic. You have to help the sound guy help you.
