  • Despite falling over earlier in the year, our oyster tree is still producing! In this video, I show you how we forage, clean, and cook our oyster mushrooms.

Found me some beautiful oyster shrooms today, going to saute in butter and garlic and have on hamburger.
We just moved to Kentucky from Arizona and there is so much to forage here compared to there. Life is Good❤

Found a ton of golden oysters today, gonna bread and fry some up fresh, leave some in the fridge, dehydrate some and also make a stock with a leftover turkey carcass I have and some leftover pheasant backs I found!

I eat the bug unless the buggers are large. Butter and garlic fantastic!

The bugs are just extra protein.

My grandmother used to forage for mushrooms. I dont trust myself to pick mushrooms. I'd probably poison myself. LOL! Good video.

I try to be very careful and get confirmation from the experts. There are only 3 or 4 species that I feel comfortable foraging, so far.

Man! Thank you for that!! I have NOT been feeling the UA-cam thing, lately. I had to kick myself in the butt to do this one, so this comment truly means a lot.

This was great. I went out on a trail near my home yesterday and stumbled onto some oyster mushrooms. They are a bit past their prime. I live upstate New York. I think I just missed their perfect stage. The ends of the caps are beginning to dry. I saw another batch that was petrified. Fascinating. I wasn’t looking for anything just walking with my tiny dog on my back. Lucky I always have poop bags. So I filled one. With mushrooms not poop. Anyway. I’m not sure if you can eat them slightly past perfection. Now I’m scared though. The bugs in the woods are one thing. This vegan doesn’t really want to be eating them. I can clean them but the worm freaked me out. I don’t know if I’d be able to spot them. Maybe I should give them to my neighbor. 🤣

I would rather eat the bugs than cook in canola oil
