My best friends brother had a Black '71 Mark III with a Red Interior. I still remember riding in the back in with his sister between us, coming home from Harwich Port on Cape Cod in 1976 with the A/C on after a day at the beach. I felt like king back there, holding her hand while "Afternoon Delight" played on the radio. I think it's pretty safe to say the car made an impression on me...
Is it just me or are todays "Luxury" cars with the exception of Bentley and Rolls Royce, missing the pizzazz that these Mark IIIs, Eldorado, Riveras etc had?? To me new Luxury cars are just High Tech computers that you drive (soon that drive themselves). When a car like this pulled up you felt special to be in it. You WORE it! It made a statement! New Mercedes, Lincolns, Cadillacs, BMWs etc just don't have the glamor that these cars had. Perhaps it was the shear size? The chrome? I don't know but to me the style of the Mark III was, is and ALWAYS will be one of THE BEST looking cars you can buy! I'll go a step Further and if this were parked next to a new $600.000 Phantom I'll bet that it would get almost as much, if not the same amount of fanfare! GORGEOUS automobile. Then there's the quietness and smoothness. New luxury cars just dont float over bumps like these did! Again with exception of Rolls/Bentley. TO hell with sport suspension. I live in NYC loaded with pot holes and bumps. I want a smooth ride over corner carving performance. You can hardly go over 60-70 MPH unless its 3 AM so 1/4mile times are a mute point as well! Does anyone else echo my sentiments????
Jake I agree to me the mark 3 is the best looking ever made I drive a Benz s560 I’d rather drive the mark it’s much better looking I wish they made it again just the way it was I’d never get a Mercedes again Phil c
Brings back old memories. I bought mine new and traded it in 1978. What a wonderful car I wish it could have lasted forever. Just think no cheap Chinese parts whatsoever.
When I was a teenager, and driving around in my parents' cars I wondered what the cars of the future would be like. Certainly better than cars like this one. Well, it's the future now, and I drive a Prius. The future sucks!

I agree and so I own three of the last generation Lincoln Town Cars. Understated Elegance that does not feel like you are driving a space ship.
